[digikam] [Bug 469117] No explanation for folder aware or random aware options in the Advanced Renaming tool documentation
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469117 --- Comment #6 from Maik Qualmann --- Hi Gilles, This was a user wish to have a random numeric code for the numbering. It is a random number with up to 31 digits created by QUuid. It is clear that with e.g. "##" there is still no random sequence, with more "#" it becomes more and more unique. [digikam] [Bug 469117] No explanation for folder aware or random aware options in the Advanced Renaming tool documentation
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469117 --- Comment #3 from michael2macdon...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Maik Qualmann from comment #2) > I assume you don't mean Folder aware numbering, but Counter aware numbering. > Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the > filename in the image's directory and continues it. > > Maik Thank you, I did mean counter-aware numbering. Random aware numbering is pretty self-explanatory, but my main issue is that counter-aware numbering is unclear and I could not find any explanation on how it works. It would be great if you could add that exact explanation to the docs: "Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the filename in the image's directory and continues it." -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469117 --- Comment #2 from Maik Qualmann --- I assume you don't mean Folder aware numbering, but Counter aware numbering. Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the filename in the image's directory and continues it. Maik -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469117 Maik Qualmann changed: What|Removed |Added CC||metzping...@gmail.com --- Comment #1 from Maik Qualmann --- Folder aware is explained in the documentation and Random is unique string/numbering. - In the sequence Number dialog you will find two options: Extension aware numbering and Folder aware numbering. If they are checked digiKam will start a new sequence for every file extension and / or folder. - Maik -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
