Please install markdownpart (sudo apt install markdownpart) and either remove the Okular markdown backend or move it down the list in file associations in System Settings. The markdown part works nicer with Kate as it has much less keyboard shortcuts that might conflict. If you want to continue using the Okular kpart, you need to file this bug to Okular.
