Ok, I think I see what is going on. The Unity desktop hijacks the application's
menu bar and replaces it with some "global appmenu". I have no idea which
packages need to be installed (or uninstalled) to fix this broken appmenu.

I suggest to ask in a forum of your distribution, how to fix the global appmenu
for Qt4 applications.

Upon invoking, "kile -style Plastique" - I am gettting the same view as before,
I am unable to see the shortcuts as usual!  : (

Oh, I was assuming that you already used the Qt5-based version. For the
Qt4-based version, please try "kile -style Plastique", the Fusion style is only
available with Qt5.

When I ran "kile -style Fusion" from Konsole, I get the following... message in
it ... and the Kile gets opened .. but with as usual appearance.

To get the default Qt widget style, which should also display keyboard
