Actually, no need to open another report. This authentication issue has been
fixed in the upcoming libkgapi 17.04.1

@Jonathan: webengine is required by libkgapi, that cmake message should go
there.

This happened right after you granted permissions to Akonadi Resources for
Google Services. I googled a little bit and people say it's because google
forcing users to use 2-step verification procedure. But I don't want to use it.
I just want to enter my password once and that's all. Should I create a new bug
ticket for this?

you're a genius.

I've updated the package in KDE neon to depend on libqt5webengine5

Elvis you may want to put a message in cmake output to say it needs this
installed as a runtime dep.

Does kdeinit5 say something useful? (Just run kdeinit5 in konsole, then check
the output after Dolphin says "The process for the gdrive protocol died
unexpectedly.").

spookily git master built on neon user edition doesn't seem to work any better

anyone wanting to test this could use neon docker images

I confirm this testing with neon user edition docker image

runs fine on my neon developer edition machine

compiling 1.1.1 on my neon developer edition machine it still runs fine

compiling 1.1.1 on user edition and re-installing and it's still broken

most spooky
