Correct - to be a pain in the backside, this *only* crashes when I log out.

I can open and close kmail as many times as I like within the session and am
unable to trigger the crash.

Do you also get a crash when just closing KMail? It is a bit hard to obtain a
backtrace if the crash only happens when ending the session...
