[kontact] [Bug 394889] KMail/Kontact crashes when accessing a mail in the Outbox

2024-02-15 Thread Sebastian Turzański
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394889

HI all
I was able to narrow down the case

When sending a signed mail with default openPGP for an account all works fine
if I send it instantly.
All works fine if I you send later but without openPGP signature

If I select send later the openPGP signed mail is put to OUTBOX and sits there
.
When I try to open this message to see or modify it kmail or kontact crashes.
This bug has been bothering me for years but now I narrowed it down to the case
where it only happens with SIGNED mails that are opened from outbox folder.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create openPGP signed mail
2. Send it with "send later" option
3. Go to outbox and try to open this mail

OBSERVED RESULT
Kmail/Kontact crashes , when you run it again kmail opens it's main windows
plus addtional windows with the signed outbox mail it failed to open before
crash

EXPECTED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Opensue Tumbleweed latest
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115

Sorry Christoph, I did not get notified of your request above. Today I
received a notification that this message had been waiting for information for
15 days! Odd that I receive the nag but not the original question.
The good news is that this situation has resolved itself with no input from me.
I can only assume an update to some component or other has provided the
solution? IN any case, KMail now operates as expected and this bug, I guess,
can be marked as "resolved" or do we mark it as fixed but no resolution
somehow?

My knowledge level would have made answering your question tricky but, as you
suggested, I would have asked in Kubuntu forums and done my best to get the
correct information. If you would still like me to do this then please say so
and I will endeavour to provide the info.

For the moment though, all is well with Kontact and Kmail on my machine.

James

Same issue as in bug 398570.

Please state where the 'libKF5MessageViewer.so.5abi4' library comes from. If
unsure, ask for help in a forum of your distribution.
