That is a problem in the documentation. Granularity means the reverse: the
higher the value is, the lower quality image you get.

This probably needs to be checked in code, I cannot tell if there is any
difference between 4/32 and 32/4... And since I can see that sometimes my
custom numbers get reset to 16/8 again, I wouldn't be surprised if it ignored
user values altogether.
