Thank you Rob for your endeavours developing such a lovely software !
I will wait for the next release.
In the new feature list of KStars 3.1.0, I saw that you developed a
comprehensive script along with detailed documentation for building KStars with
Craft on MacOS.
I would like to help (another way than donation) : so I had a look to
https://github.com/rlancaste/kstars-on-osx-craft. But it is too complicate for
me (although I programmed for many years in Pascal in another life).
Don't hesitate to contact me if I can help.
Best regards.

So this wasn't a bug, this was the intended behavior. Basically when I build
the software for the DMG, it creates the astrometry config file with the path
on my computer. In response to some complaints about this path being wrong in
the last beta version, I added this dialog and stored the correct path so that
it could be easily changed with one click.

But based on your comment here, and a discussion with Jasem, I guess that users
would be confused by this dialog coming up every time they update the software.
So, instead, I came up with a way to automate the process. In the next
version, it will automatically update the path in the astrometry config file
without needing user intervention.

The likely consequence is that the astrometry index file gets damaged and that
astrometry always fails
