Cool, thanks for confirming my suspicion.  It looks like something (minor) has
changed in Qt v5.9.0 and KWin will need to accommodate.

Let's hope one of the developers can get moving on this soon.  I don't want to
have to spend time rebuilding/downgrading my 19 Qt5 packages!

As mentioned here [https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380902#c5] in the other
related bug, the hotkeys work as expected when downgrading the Qt packages
alone to 5.8.

I'm changing the importance of the bug back to "normal" as the bug is clearly
not a wish against any intended resolution to remove that functionality.
However, I'll leave the status of the bug to the KDE developers.

Downgrading kwin to v5.9.5 didn't fix the problem either.  I tried it with both
plasma-workspace v5.9.5.1 and v5.10.1.  I'm still thinking incompatibility with
Qt v5.9.0 is the likely cause.
