I'm on 5.5.4 + frameworks 5.18 and get this bug on git as well. To reproduce,
right click the tray icon and open audio volume settings, and then do it again
(close settings, click icon, open settings). First time works, second time
segfaults plasmashell. Of note this crash only happens when audio is playing -
ie, when the first tab the window opens has an audio bar in it that the
plasmoid is going to read from pulseaudio. That seems to strongly indicate that
these crashes have to do with asynchronous operations with the PA reader. I
attached one of the useless Arch traces, and I could recompile plasmashell and
plasma-pa with debinfo if it would help.
