Sorry Tom, but this bug report is in general too vague to really pin point the
issue at hand. If you find a reliable way to reproduce the issues you
experience and can better narrow them down, pls reopen.

For example if plasmashell freezes, try to get a backtrace as David mentioned.

I also think so. Now the apt update will also freeze plasmashell itself. I did
not know why.

the only thing executing plasma-changeicons is the icons KCM in systemsettings

I think I may found a possibility about freeze.
I found plasmashell will const execute plasma-changeicons in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec in ubuntu causing large cpu usage and causing
freeze even I just copy a file, not change icon.
after rename about that file. the plasmashell will become normal.

1. connect phone or camera.
2. browse camera:// on dolphin
3. delete lots of file on that device.
4. it may freeze during deleting.

It did not 100% reproduce, but I has met frequently.
