path trace of segmentation fault

I have had numerous crashes since the start of this bug report, and here is
another bacttrace from a crash using the pthread_kill, but instead the crash
came from main instead of the new thread. I have not looked through the code,
but it seems like some bit of memory is being overrun at some point and not
being caught until the new thread gets spawned?

I would have to look at the code to confirm, but I have seen behavior like this
before in multi-threaded apps that I have created.

Managed to recreate it by putting my laptop to sleep then waking it up (I only
had a new Firefox tab open right after a fresh reboot). The following is the
new back trace:
