I can confirm that this bug also affects a fully-up-to-date installation on
Fedora 28 (just launched).

It affects only the Wayland session, and not the Xorg session.

Moreover, it affects all effects such as Present Windows, Application Launcher
etc.

Makes 'Screen Edges' features useless.

Missing icon

Since few days ago I have an empty slot in System Settings intro page.

I assume it's because the Workspace KCM has been renamed to kcm_workspace and
System Settings saves the old name without checking if the KCM still exists.

The error message is:

I followed your indications to know how to do the cleaning of: -
- ~ / Library / Application Support / digikam
- ~ / Library / Preferences / digikamrc
- ~ / Pictures / .mysql.digikam
as well as / opt / digikam
I used the package of 22/05 5h49 either:
digiKam-6.0.0-git-20180522T074156-MacOS-x86-64.pkg
When launching the app in normal mode, it shoots for a long time before having
the error message. I made several inconclusive tests.
The penultimate package had resulted in an import of my photos in internal sql
after relaunching the application twice in terminal mode.

About 'acting weird' it looks like mouse sometimes clicks somewhere else than
cursor is pointing (or is not clicking at all) also gtk4-demo window cannot be
moved without pressing 'Alt'

The first scan can be long, this depend of collection size and number of items
to populate in database. 

In my case, i setup a small collection to test (less than  images). I recommend
to do the same in first.

For the error reported previously, i insist : it's abnormal to see
mysql_install_db using conf file from user space instead DK bundle one (from
/opt/digikam/...).

At init you must to see someting like this on the console :

digikam.databaseserver: Database initializer:
"/opt/digikam/lib/mariadb/bin/mysql_install_db"
("--datadir=/Users/gilles/Pictures/.mysql.digikam/db_data",
"--defaults-file=/opt/digikam/Applications/KF5/digikam.app/Contents/Resources//digikam/database/mysql-global.conf")

This line come from my debug trace. Look the path to mysql-global.conf. It come
from /opt/digikam/..., not my user space (/Users/gilles/...).

This is mandatory as the shell script from mysql/mariadb is bugous and do not
accept space in path).

After that, creating mysql server instance in memory, using the binary file
mysqld which is not a sheel script, can use a path with space. From my debug
trace :

digikam.databaseserver: Database server: "/opt/digikam/lib/mariadb/bin/mysqld"
("--defaults-file=/Users/gilles/Library/Application
Support/digikam/digikam/mysql.conf",
"--datadir=/Users/gilles/Pictures/.mysql.digikam/db_data",
"--socket=/Users/gilles/Library/Application
Support/digikam/digikam/db_misc/mysql.socket")

This one use conf file from user space, as the temporary socket file used to
communicate with the internal server from DK, through localhost.

This has been fixed in konsole > 2.12.4[1]; you may use OSC 7 (OSC is ESC] or
\033] or \e]) escape sequences to let the shell tell konsole about the $PWD.

Something like this should work:
- Get your current/default PROMPT_COMMAND:
$ echo $PROMPT_COMMAND
on my system it looks like this:
printf "\033]0;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}" "${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"

- Then append the the OSC 7 escape sequence to it:
PROMPT_COMMAND='printf "\033]0;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}"
"${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"; printf "\033]7;file://%s\007" "${PWD}"'

You may then put that that line in e.g. ~/.bashrc and PWD will be set to the
current working directory even if it's a symlink.

Discover is looking for updates

When I click on the Updater applet indicating there are updates, Discover
window opens with "Fetching..." in the title, "Checking for updates..."
selected and "Looking for updates" in the main area (see the attached
screenshot). However, this screen stays in this state forever with no change
(I've waited for about 10 minutes, maybe more) and there is no indication of
progress or completion anywhere to be seen.

If there is some potentially time-consuming work to be done, there should be a
progress bar of some sort. It should be possible to place it somewhere in that
large unused area of the window. If the process has ended, successfully or not,
an indication of that completion should be given to the user. Window title and
contents should not imply that the work is still going.

I also have this issue on Kubuntu 18.04. I "got around" it by just adding
exactly the same panel config to each screen. Which works for now, but I'll be
moving to a different distro and DE soon if this isn't fixed, because it seems
to be causing other issues such as this one:

Plasmashell randomly uses 100+% CPU (when checked via top).

kMail 5.8.1 seems to load external references in HTML emails without asking,
possibly disclosing to a third party (company / spammer / scammer) that the
mail has been displayed.

I configured kMail to prefer plain text messages and not to load any external
references. (The current Efail debate shows the validity of those measures.)

After clicking "activate formatted HTML display", older kMail versions (until
recently) would roughly format the message but display a second question "load
external references" which had to be confirmed explicitly.

If I click "activate formatted HTML display" in kMail 5.8.1, all external
images for example seem to be loaded immediately, possibly disclosing
information about validity / reachability of my email address to adverse third
parties.


Expected behaviour: If "load external references" is unchecked in the options,
no external references (CSS styles, images, anything else) is loaded until I
explicitly confirm that I actually want to do so.

It's important that "render HTML" and "load external references" is split into
two separate steps, as lots of HTML mails do not have any proper plain text
content embedded, so I sometimes have to resort to the renderen HTML contents
to even decide if the mail is legit (or I want to trust it fully) or not. This
gets close to impossible if activating HTML rendering will automatically load
all stuff it references from the internet, including activating counter pixels
or submitting tracking ID information by specifically crafted HTTP GET
requests.

Additionally, externally referenced file types may be loaded which I really do
not want to be downloaded like PDF or even some script or executable files.

This seems to be "fixed" if I make the left-hand monitor the primary screen.
The right-hand task manager now lists the correct tasks after screens are
switched back on, and continues working without needing to restart
plasma-shell.

However, the windows are all still moved to the left-hand monitor.

Sorry, on my Kubuntu 18.04 Desktop LXQT User-Krusader has only Icons and no

I confirm that in normal mode the direct launch fails. As for the long time I
wanted to talk about the time taken for the app to request information.

By cons I launched digikam in terminal mode:
/opt/digikam/Applications/KF5/digikam.app/Contents/MacOS/digikam 1> / tmp /
rendering 2> & 1
and actually it works, the import of my test collection went well and if I
restart digikam always in terminal mode the app opens correctly but if I run it
in normal mode the error message appears .

After I moved to linux-4.16, transparent windows stopped working.  They do work
on Xrender, but it ends effects like the cube transition between different
virtual desktops.

So applications like yakuake (dropdown shell) don't work.

It could be something I just did wrong in my system.

MinimizeAll triggers on mouse touching screen border. This didn't occur with QT
5.10 and beta release versions of QT 5.11. Qt 5.11 Release candidate and final
version of QT 5.11 both enable the bug.

OS: Archlinux

QT: 5.11.0

Disabling the script stops windows being minimized accidentally by touching top
of the screen.
System settings->Desktop behavior->Screen Edges->Top is set to "No Action".
Setting another action here also stop the accidental minimizes.

So, if the problem appear with a large collection, we will need a full debug
trace from the console with all collection scan stages, until the failure
event.

You need to reset the database before, of course, to be sure to not mix
previous data.

Before Key 'Left'

Reproduce:
 * use Wide-screen view
 * resize article list so horizontal scrollbar appears (see screenshot
akregator-before-key-left)
 * Use 'Left' cursor key to goto the next article
Result:
 * Additionally to going to next article the article list is shifted to the
left.
   Therefore the beginning of the article titles is no longer visible  (see
screenshot akregator-after-key-left)

Expected result:
 * article list is not shifted to the left and therefore the start of the
titles is still visible.

I am experiencing same issue with plasmashell 5.10.5 on kubuntu 17.10 
and configuration with single screen and two panels organised as in unity 
where left panel is set to auto-hide, this worked once it was set up
originally, but often stops working - even when plasmashell is restarted, and
auto-hide is set again, the right panel still does not hide and covers the
active window forever.

You can sort of achieve that with current konsole:
- There's a "Show window title on the titlebar" option (Settings -> Configure
Konsole -> General); if it's disabled, the same text is used for both the tab
and titlebar
- If it's enabled, you can set the window title using escape sequences, e.g.
you can use PROMPT_COMMAND for bash to set the window title, this is done by
default on my system (Fedora 28), I have this line in /etc/bashrc (preferably
you can add it to your ~/.bashrc):
PROMPT_COMMAND='printf "\033]2;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}"
"${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"'

the same thing can be done for zsh but you'd have to use precmd (I don't know
much about zsh).

- OSC is ESC]
- \033 is octal for ESC, you can alternatively use \e

I've had several crashes with the transform tool and a transformation mask.

I just tried to transform something, and then it crashes. This happens
randomly.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

I checked on another computer and a virtual machine, both with the same OS
(Windows 7 64 bits) and the first is updated while the second has absolutely no
updates. Both Kdenlive are successfully closed (except “dbus-daemon.exe”, but
this seems intended), it is very strange.

Looking at the code this warning should always be there (first build with gcc
8?). It is also irrevelant, unless someone uses 8-digit-long terminal
width/height. Increasing the buffer size to 27 will solve the problem.

That would be a very serious security issue obviously, but I can't reproduce
this here either.

Besides the global setting, there is a per-folder setting for this (Folder ->
Load External References). Is that also switched off?

An 'strace -f calligra', showing calligra exiting at startup.

Unable to start calligra. It just exits with no error message at all.

An strace -f calligra results in (many Resource temporarily unavai
lable) messages, mostly around futex and recvfrom).

Attached is the strace log.

I am running Fedora release 27. I did a 'dnf insall calligra', then tried to
run it.

I do not think I am running out of memory or VM, and everything else, big or
small runs.
