[plasma-browser-integration] [Bug 395651] CMakeLists.txt MOZILLA_DIR hard coded /lib/mozilla

You know I was hoping for a follow up on this. Always trying to learn new
things.

Would be kind of cool to know a reason for "not possible to do it in a way
which works everywhere" since my proposal allows the user to customize all
aspects of the MOZILLA_DIR variable except the mozilla directory part.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no plasma-redshift-control product to
correctly assign to. Code contributions are best done via phabricator.kde.org.

[dolphin] [Bug 396271] New: Unable to open files directly from mtp device (video inside)

2018-07-07 Thread Ashark
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396271

Bug ID: 396271
Summary: Unable to open files directly from mtp device (video
inside)
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 18.04.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ash...@linuxcomp.ru
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When you try to connect Android device via mtp protocol, then go to your files
and try to open some file, you get such error:

The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly.

But when you copy file to another location, for example to your home directory,
then you can open copied file.
Here is video demonstration: https://youtu.be/CUuvfIObqY0

I suspect it may be because applications are trying to get write access (for
example, change access time), but unable to do so, and fails.

As a workaround I think we could copy file to temporary directory and then open
it with corresponding application while warning user that he/she is working
with copy of file.

Sigh, I realize that. I like to know what was wrong with my approach as a
possible solution. I can understand that 'mozilla/native-messaging-hosts/'
should probably be static, but due to some distributions using the alternate
locations under the FHS for libraries it just made sense to me to add a
commonly used cmake variable to set the library location vice using the
MOZILLA_DIR variable. Thanks.

[krita] [Bug 396171] CPU related brush performance issues on many mid to low-end mobile CPUs

2018-07-07 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396171

I have tested Krita 4.1.0 on two latest Macbooks today, but none of them are
working well despite of their relatively high hardware specs. I don't know
whether we have plan to optimize Krita on macOS in the future, but since the
performance was alarmingly bad, I felt the need to report the detail as well.

### TEST
Macbook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017), Intel Core m3-7Y32 (1.2Ghz) 8GB 1866Mhz RAM.
Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports), Intel core i5-7360U
(2.3Ghz) 8GB 2133Mhz RAM.

Both Macbooks were running macOS High Sierra 10.13.2.
Krita 4.1.0.dmg
Wacom Intuos S Gen 3 CTL-4100 with driver 6.3.30-2 installed.

### SYMPTOMS
Brush preset "Basic-6_detail" is lagging behind, the drawing speed is even
worse than Celeron N3450 and APUs under Windows 10. Long and quick strokes
crawls far behind for seconds before they can be finished, it's simply
unusable.

Brush preset "Basic-5_size" and other less resource intense presets are more
responsive, but the tablet signal is clearly being dropped heavily, resulting
in undesired straight lines when drawing curves. Krita 4.1.0's release notes
said it had fixed this problem, but it appeared to be otherwise during my
tests.

Reminder: Core m3-6Y30 under Windows 10 can handle these without breaking a
sweat.

### MORE
I've also tested Pentium N4200 8GB under Windows 10. It was as slow as its
brother Celeron N3450. The only difference being its burst frequency of 2.5Ghz,
but it appeared to be irrelevant during the test. The result made me suspect
optimization issues even more.

So, you suspect that changes from Qt introduce this dysfunction ?

Remember that KF5 have been updated to last stable version in the bundle. So,
as all Mainview use KMainWindow class as parent, perhaps something has changed
to manage layouts ?

You need to repackage kwin.

* Install asp
  sudo pacman -S asp

* Get PKGBUILD file
  asp export kwin
  cd kwin

* Pass CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE option as said in the ArchWiki article

* Build and install
  makepkg -i

(if you'd like to skip signature check, pass --skippgpcheck)

* Restart your session

After you submitted backtrace with debug symbols, install kwin from extra

Maybe one of the security flags injected by Fedora build system leads to this
difference?
If you can give me any advice I can try to to some build excluding that flag.

Could be, since it crashes in libc. Well, one fix that might workaround it is
to switch away from std::vector to std:array for those colours. But I would
like to test it before comitting.

I can probably test it by patching your source in srpm with my changes.

But things are quite slow since I am working in Virtual Machine and furthermore
mouse is not working in VirtualBox (F28) :(.

[kmymoney] [Bug 396174] Cannot create new investment

this one:

kmymoney/wizards/newinvestmentwizard/knewinvestmentwizard.cpp:
KMessageBox::detailedSorry(this, i18n("Unable to create all objects for the
investment"), QString::fromLatin1(e.what()));

I looked at the latest commits but I saw nothing about this.

A simpler step list:

1. go to investments
2. select an equity account
3. select an existing investment
4. right click ANYWHERE to create a new investment
5. this fails for me.

BTW is there any way to remove an investment again? If I simply create one
without ever using it, I think I should be able to delete it in the Securities
tab. But the Delete button is grayed out.

Oh, actually I now remembered why I changed it from std::array to std::vector.
It was to help keep ABI compatibility when adding support to new file systems.

So I would like to avoid switching back to std::array. QVector might work
though if we can't figure it out.

By the way, are you on #fedora-kde?

I use an increased font DPI on my 4k screen (instead of scaling) and this works
well for most applications. On Wayland the Gtk applications look ok as long as
I run them via XWayland (example: GDK_BACKEND=x11 virt-manager), it sets the
same font size of Qt/KDE applications. If I run the same application directly
via Wayland, the font dpi seems to be ignored and the fonts are to small
(example: GDK_BACKEND=wayland virt-manager).

This bug still reproduces if patch from bug 381242 is applied over
plasma-framework package from debian stretch.

I can reliably reproduce the bug by:

- have Telegram Desktop application started
  - it has a systray icon, that by default becomes "hidden" i.e. shown only in
systray's popup dialog

- have Telegram window opened on desktop different from current one

- click on Telegram's entry in system tray's popup dialog.

On click, desktop gets switched to where Telegram's window is. And after that,
click on system tray no longer shows any dialogs up to when plasmashell is
killed and restarted.

Maik,

I renamed ~/.config/digikamrc file as *.old, restarted digiKam from scratch,
and the problem disapear with last 6.0.0 AppImage bundle.

So, it's look again a problem with GUI state storage in rc file or something
like that.

[kbackup] [Bug 396278] New: Support for the xz compression format

2018-07-07 Thread Francesco Turco
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396278

Bug ID: 396278
Summary: Support for the xz compression format
   Product: kbackup
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kol...@aon.at
  Reporter: ftu...@fastmail.fm
  Target Milestone: ---

Currently KBackup only supports the bzip2 compression format as far as I know.
It would be nice to have support for xz, too, because of its higher compression
ratio. See https://tukaani.org/xz/ for details.

2018-07-07 Thread Francesco Turco

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kol...@aon.at

  Target Milestone: ---

Currently KBackup compresses each source file individually, and then stores
them inside an uncompressed tarball. I would prefer instead to store source
files without individual compression, and then compress the whole target
tarball just once. What do you think?

[krita] [Bug 396281] New: Krita "Image reference tool" vs "Image reference doker"

2018-07-07 Thread Avelino De Sabbata
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396281

Bug ID: 396281
Summary: Krita "Image reference tool" vs "Image reference
doker"
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Dockers
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: avelinodesabb...@alice.it
  Target Milestone: ---

I know that this is not a bug, but I would still like to ask for attention on
this issue.

In Krita's forum, on the page
"https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=153091"; I wrote this message:
---
Hello everyone.

I know that in Windows the "Reference image" docker caused the application to
crash and has been replaced by the "Reference Images" tool.
The efficiency of this tool is by no means comparable to the suppressed docker
and therefore I strongly recommend that you restore the docker "Reference
image" at least in the Linux version.

Krita users who agree with this suggestion are asked to add a comment to
underline this request.

Thank you all.

---
I see that there are no reactions or comments: is it possible that this request
will be taken into consideration?

Thank you.

Scrollbar arrows in Firefox look pretty bad and are of no practical use

Reasons:

1. The arrows are too tinny to serve a practical purpose
2. The arrows are off relative to the scrollbar

When you say the list of accounts is incomplete, it is not showing all Asset
accounts or not showing all types of accounts? QIF and OFX import include
something about the type of account, so KMM tries to only display relevant
accounts. So, please specify the type of account of the import, and the
account type of accounts not shown that you think should be shown.

smb://share/folder etc.
Double click a money file and KMyMoney 5 opens as expected.
Change something to enable saving (without a change you cant click save).
Click save.
There is an error about cant write to share.
But it did write.. and destroyed all the data.

Before

File finance.kmy

After save and error.
Unable to write changes to
'/run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=bigstation.office.lan,share=house/money/finance.kmy'

After this the folder now contains.

finance.kmy 0 bytes
finance.kmy.1~ 0 bytes

All data is gone, file is destroyed.

Also please provide some more information about the file server - distro and
version of samba or whatever is actually providing the file share, as well as
the client's version of Samba (my assumption as to what is used to access the
smb share.)

Have you used any other programs which update/save files to that share such as
emacs and/or libreoffice. I suspect KMM is just doing a normal save, and
reporting the error, but it is some issue with the underlying file sharing that
is deleting the old file before actually saving the new one.

Also look carefully at any permission related settings that might see some
difference or conflict between the file share and your local machine.

  Platform: MS Windows

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: importer
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: jeffjl@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have a couple of problems with ofxpartner.cpp on a craft-mingw-Qt5.11-windows
build.

First, the "get" function of the OfxHttpRequest constructor does not work.
Maybe because KIO::copy does not work on Windows. Maybe KIO::copy doesn't work
because of QUrl problems on Windows (see problem #2, below). Or maybe this has
been overlooked because if you have an old ofx-bank-index.xml file laying
around, KMM will use that file even if it fails to fetch a new one.

I hacked around that issue by just commenting out the "if(type.toLower() ==
QStringLiteral("get"))" section around ofxpartner.cpp line 297 and always using
the "post" code. A full fix would just remove the "type" parameter from that
function (it was unused in KMM4).

I have not been able to figure out a "clean" solution to the second problem. It
has to do with QUrl paths. I can not find a combination of QUrl, QFile, QDir,
QFileInfo calls that will construct a file name that succeeds with QFile::open
in the slotOfxConnected() method. Even though QUrl.isLocalFile() returns
"true", the file path either does not include the drive letter, e.g.
"/users/jeff/ofx-bank-index.xml", or includes the drive letter looking like a
network name, e.g. "//c/users/jeff/ofx-bank-index.xml". QFile fails to open
either of those. This may only be a problem because my KMM program is on D: and
my app folder is on C:. If they were on the same drive, maybe the "/users/jeff"
path would work.

If I just hack in a string replacement to change the "//c/" to "c:/" to pass to
QFile::open(), then KMM will fetch a new ofx-bank-index.xml and everything's
good from there (assuming the "get" fix is in).

The "static QString directory" member variable is correctly "C:/users/jeff" at
the troublesome spot. It just gets lost in the QUrl.

I have a package which I have set on hold, which means it would be updated.
Unfortuneately this means my update notification is permanently notifying me
about available updates so I have to click from time to time in order to check
if there is something else then the update which I have set on hold. I think
the behaviour of notifying about packages "on hold" should be handled as
follows.
- No notification in the icon
- If the user clicks on the icon to see the updates, he then sees
* XXX updates
* XX security updates
* X package(s) on hold
The user then somewhere has an option update the package on hold anyway, but is
not asked on every updated if he wishes to do that.

In many cases, the "Minimize Windows"/"Show Desktop" applet is placed on one
corners of the panel, typically at the right-most side.

Especially when the panel height was increased to a two-rowed system tray, the
size of "Minimize Windows"/"Show Desktop" is unnecessary big.

I suggest to shrink the size of the applet to a small bar (at least when it is
placed at the end of a panel).

Not convinced the other two are related.

Backtrace makes total sense, drmPageFlip/drmHandleEvent is effectively async
and our user_data pointer we supply (the DrmOuptut) can get deleted.

We can try to make sure we never delete the output when we have a pending flip.

Alternatively I once did a clever trick in kwayland of putting a QPointer on
the heap and using that as our user data. Kinda safer, kinda just avoiding the
problem.

The patch as attached looks stylistically correct to me, using a CMake check to
generate a config.h file that would then be used for the include guard. That's
also how I'd do it, and I wouldn't have even bothered to fix the .gitignore
myself.

However the patch wouldn't have worked directly (the fix to FindLibIntl.cmake
uses "HAVE_..." while the code checks for "HAS_..."). Also I'd use a namespaced
include guard in config.h (e.g. "#ifndef KF5_KI18N_CONFIG_H ..." instead of
"#ifndef CONFIG_H"), but that's more about residual trauma from --enable-final
builds back in the day.

Since we've already got a soft +1 on this patch already I'll go ahead and
commit the corrected patch in the next day or two if there's no objections from
here.

P.S. I've previously built all of KF5 on Alpine Linux (also using musl libc)
while testing Docker, but I think that had worked because I had also installed
GNU libintl, presumably that overrides the musl libintl if both exist?

Patch against master

Hello,

I've done some work on making a valgrind tool to help test heap allocation
failures. The idea is that when an allocation is about to happen, the tool
checks whether it has seen this call stack before. If it hasn't seen the call
stack, then the memory allocation fails, otherwise it succeeds. Call stacks are
stored in memory and on disk in the form of a checksum, and each time the tool
runs it can load the checksums from disk so carrying out multiple runs of the
same program will test different allocation failures.

In theory this means you can test the failure of every single heap allocation
in your program, in practice that may be difficult to achieve, especially for
complex programs.

I've attached the patch for your consideration. The biggest limitation to my
mind is the use of the adler32 checksum function. Ideally I would use an actual
hashing function and have a version of this patch that uses a third party sha3
implementation, but didn't want to complicate things at this point. I have't
managed to get print-docs working, but I believe that is more down to my
environment than anything else.

I look forward to your comments...

[plasma-browser-integration] [Bug 396291] New: Activities

2018-07-07 Thread Philipp Verpoort
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396291

Bug ID: 396291
   Summary: Activities
   Product: plasma-browser-integration
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: philipp.verpo...@secure.mailbox.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Are there any plans to get the integration into KDE's activity management
working? (Or is it supposed to work? If so, this is a bug report rather than a
feature request.)

A Firefox add-on exists, but I was unable to compile its native component (it
may also be outdated, because Firefox is changing and developing so rapidly,
and the last change to this addon is dated 2016).

https://github.com/Scheirle/KdeActivitiesFirefoxAddon

Would be great to get this to work!

Many thanks for your effort and your support, very much appreciated.

[frameworks-qqc2-desktop-style] [Bug 396287] qqc2-desktop-style crashing when QApplication::style() returns NULL

2018-07-07 Thread RJVB

Well, that really puts a huge damper on using this plugin; setting
QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE=org.kde.desktop means random (from the user's PoV)
applications will start to crash.

Letting code crash like this is really sloppy too, IMHO. Apparently it's not
possible to let the style plugin deactivate itself when `qApp->style() ==
NULL`, but it can at least provoke a more or less clean application exit by not
registering anything in registerTypes. And maybe it's not that expensive to let
the style become a big NOOP in this situation.

[Spectacle] [Bug 358641] Have Spectacle remember filename

2018-07-07 Thread Albert
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358641

(In reply to Emmanuel Revah from comment #9)
> I can only add that I've been sad (and lost trying out other programs) since
> Ksnapshot's easy file naming thing has left us.

I was thinking that rather than the current

"if filename exists, next time it will filename+(#+1)"

or the date format as shown above, perhaps dev can add another option %d or
rather %Nd (where N is any number of 0s or none)
so that you can have the default format filename%ND.jpg (or whatever the user
selects as file type)
since you already added the date format as a type, adding an integer shouldnt
be too farfetched, right?
