TIFF with alpha

I've added one more example, it's not saved by me. Seems like GMIC and Windows
picture viewer both read alpha channel (GMIC shows 4th value 255 on man and 0
around). Take a look, Krita can't read alpha channel here. Maybe you can look
into GMIC code how it's done there.

[kfile] [Bug 293888] Filechooser is much slower than than other filechoosers

2018-09-28 Thread Alexander Schier
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293888

Filechooser in a directory with many images and thumbnails turned off:

- The dialog does not hang anymore
- It causes a short time high cpu on one core
- Scrolling is sluggy for the first 5-10 seconds or so, then it gets better
- The first 5-10 seconds have a waiting pointer, which makes it harder to
select a file, even when it is possible

This happens each time, but only the first time you see (noticable) hdd
activity. So some stuff seems to be cached, but other things still happen each
time you open the dialog.

It's kind of WORKSFORME, but possibly there is room for more improvement.

I'm not sure. I just know that every major version of every framework has it's
own theming engine and configures it differently, so it's a horrible mess to
try to keep them in the same style. I did it by manually editing config-files
long ago, so I can't say anything about GUI tools and what they may touch.

[Akonadi] [Bug 399167] New: Akonadi enters deadlock state which makes it completely unuseable

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399167

Bug ID: 399167
Summary: Akonadi enters deadlock state which makes it
completely unuseable
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@cryptomilk.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Every few weeks, akonadi runs into a deadlock state, the console output is:

org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Creating/updating items from the akonadi database
failed: "Multiple merge candidates, aborting"
org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Error during ItemSync: "Multiple merge candidates,
aborting"

It doesn't tell me in which mail account nor folder this is happening. To get
my mails back into a working state, I have to completely remove the database
any synchronize all my mails.

Sometimes after some time I see:

org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: DATABASE ERROR:
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: DATABASE ERROR:

( PimItemTable.id = ? ) )"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Query: "UPDATE PimItemTable SET atime = ? WHERE (

There is no way to solve this without deep akonadi knowledge.

(In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #2)
> It is already possible to add an 'Delete' entry to the context menu:
> Configure > Dolphin > Services > Delete

You're right. That's one place. The other is the "DEL" key bind can be
changed from "Move to trash" to "delete". In order to change the default
behavior in general (from the keyboard and the context menu), you must change
it within two places.

There could potentially be some UI dolphin preferences ("trash" submenu") to
change the default behavior of the context menu and the DEL key from "Move to
trash" to "delete". This could even potentially be UI without introducing a
new configuration option

I'm just throwing this out as an idea - I do realize that you can make this
change in two places (services and keybinds) to do this, but it could be a
useful addition to the "trash" dolphin submenu.

--- Comment #2 from netterfi...@astro.utoronto.ca ---
Looking at the request again, I see that the requested feature ("remotely
configure and control Kst") does in fact exist through the pykst python
bindings.

It is also possible for C++ code to control kst from a C++ program with the
interface used by the pykst python bindings: talking to a running kst session
with a QLocalSocket. The only problem is that the second is not documented,
except by reading the pykst.py bindings (which actually isn't too bad).

If neither of these will work, or if you are having problems making these work,
let me know. I am closing the bug in the meantime.

that does not mean that the app or wine do not break some X11 protocol by using
it too often. But the only way to confirm this is by using that specific app
under plasma 5.14

[dolphin] [Bug 399197] New: [Feature Request] Add toggle box to change "Move to trash" to "Delete" globally

2018-09-28 Thread Lukas Sabota
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399197

Bug ID: 399197
Summary: [Feature Request] Add toggle box to change "Move to
trash" to "Delete" globally
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 18.08.1
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lu...@lwsabota.com
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

In dolphin, shift+delete is used to delete instead of moving the file to the
trash.

It would be great if there was an option in dolphin that changed the default
behavior. Perhaps a toggle option could be added to "Configure Dolphin ->
Trash" that gives the user an option to prefer deletion instead of moving to
the trash. Maybe a toggle option like this?

[ ] Delete files by default instead of moving to trash

Thanks again for everyone for their efforts on KDE and plasma

[dolphin] [Bug 399197] [Feature Request] Add toggle box to change "Move to trash" to "Delete" globally

2018-09-28 Thread Lukas Sabota
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399197

A user in #plasma IRC has pointed out to me that within "Dolphin Preferences ->
Services" there is a "Trash" "service" that is shown in right click file menu.

A user could potentially change the "Delete" key mapping to actually delete
instead of move to trash and enable this service...

But I'm still convinced that a checkbox would be helpful to toggle this default
behavior.

I realize that UX can be very subjective so I want to bring this up to the
dolphin team at large. I suppose this is more of a UX idea than a "bug"

Unfortunately, this is not how kst realtime works - it only works with growing
files. If instead of deleting the oldest line, you just leave it and let the
file grow, it will work fine, at the expense of a small amount of disk usage.

One could, in principle, put in a timer based reload, but without also
implementing some sort of file locking strategy, this would lead to race
conditions or partial reads, so I am hesitant to implement it.

Is there a reason why you can't keep the old data and let the file grow?

[neon] [Bug 399171] New: No general snap packaging issue tracker available

2018-09-28 Thread Friedrich W . H . Kossebau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399171

Bug ID: 399171
Summary: No general snap packaging issue tracker available
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kosse...@kde.org
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

With the snap packages being published, even if only Beta/Candidate channels,
people will try and test them and (being good community citizens) want to
report feedback.

There seems no place where such issues are tracked, so people are tempted to
report the issues to the software products themselves.

It would be nice to have a dedicated issue product/component where general snap
packaging issues can be assigned to, so the snap doing team is aware of them
and people can see if their issue is already known.

Example: bug #399154 which is about missing fonts. There is nothing that I as
Okteta developer can do about this seemingly packaging issue, so I want to pass
this bug report on to somewhere.

Yep, happens for another user. Doesn't happen on a VM run on this machine.
Doesn't happen on my new Dell with intel graphics.
Something low level? NVidia with Nouveau driver (but iirc also happened when I
had NVidia drivers installed).

Current machine is ASUS Zenbook Pro ux501jw, now a few years old. If I'm the
only one complaining about this, suggest you file it under 'too hard' and close
it :-)

Hm... I'm sorry, I missed your earlier message. Could you please update to
4.1.3? That contains a fix at least for Windows users when saving to a dropbox
or google drive location, and it might also fix your issue.

The other thing you could try is run Krita as administrator or check whether
https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#windows-krita-cannot-save is the case.

Maik,

to update the DNG SDK from Adode, this require also to update the XMP SDK from
Adobe.

I already tried to do it in the past, with 5.x release, and... it fail due to
incompatibility between both SDK (Adobe is magic)...

We can try again, in hope that Adobe has fixed the problem.

Thank you, it works. But I'd much prefer it to be available as a menu item, as
I'm not so familiar with scripting. I used "Scripter" to test this one but it's
quite inconvenient to load the script each time.

Updating this as I have now updated the operating system Ubuntu 18 and
re-installed KDEorganizer.
The problem still exists with .ogg files, it just doesn't seem them even with
the options in the bottom right corner set to display ogg files. But I now have
a selection of .wav files which I can use.

I'm the one waiting (for constructive feedback).

Barring formal proof that it is in fact impossible in "stock" KDevelop code to
trigger a reload while another is already in process this a "task issue" that
should remain open because it describes a possible undesirable situation. One
that can have implications for performance or even lead to a crash.

[krita] [Bug 399170] New: Patterns docker swatch sizes affected by Brush Presets docker icon size slider

2018-09-28 Thread Ahab Greybeard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399170

Bug ID: 399170
Summary: Patterns docker swatch sizes affected by Brush Presets
docker icon size slider
   Product: krita
Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Dockers
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ahab.greybe...@hotmail.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

The Patterns docker swatch sizes can be adjusted by Ctrl+Scroll in the swatch
area, as noted in the manual.

However, the Brush Presets docker icon size adjustment slider also affects the
Patterns docker swatch sizes (at the same time as it changes the Brush Presets
docker icon sizes).

This has been observed in the latest nightly builds of 4.2.0 pre-alpha for
Linux and Windows and seems to have been the case since 4.0.3(?) first
introduced the Brush Presets docker icon size slider.

This is a minor UI/cosmetic matter but it affects the User Experience.

Same strange effect on konsole 18.08.1, KDE Frameworks 5.50.0,
Qt 5.11.1 (compiled against 5.11.1), in current KDE neon (based on Ubuntu
18.04):

\x2A or * always leads to "5",
\\x2A renders to "\5", see screenshot.

Please note: identical output of "5" insstead of "*" results if another trigger
(key combination), different from "5+Ctrl", is used.
