Wolthera confirmed it, so I change the status (also, REOPENED suggest it was
fixed once and now the issue appears again; but in this case the report was
just closed as NOT A BUG, so 'reopening' just confirms it is in fact a bug).

separe mobile text selection to avoid recursive imports

Summary:
the mobile text selection toolbar uses toolbuttons, which in turn use the
private import. This will make the components loading stuck in dependency

[digikam] [Bug 406428] Video preview - no sound

2019-04-12 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406428

--- Comment #11 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
Note : AppImage maintainer report me that OpenAL must be included in the bundle
to prevent this problem but... if i do it digiKAm crash into QtAV.

Also OpenAL is a low level layer near Linux kernel. this one must be installed
on the system, there is no choice (as plenty of other low level libraries).

If it's not installed, there is no sound with video, but application do not
crash. So for me it's acceptable.

Look here :

https://cgit.kde.org/digikam.git/tree/project/bundles/appimage/04-build-appimage.sh#n354

This script clean up the low level dependencies while AppImage bundle is
packaged.

libopenal1.so is removed, abut also libasound.so.2

https://cgit.kde.org/digikam.git/tree/project/bundles/appimage/04-build-appimage.sh#n277

So check well if both shared libraries are installed on your system.

It's late... I don't see what info is needed. Can you tell me the comment
number where the request is made please?

In any event, I have info to submit here:

1) This bug continues to exist with "NOMODESET" in the kernel boot parameters.

2) With my profile active AND .xinitrc the bug seems to exist.

3) KDE is now working. "currently", nomodeset is NOT set and .xinitrc is NOT
present... KDE startup executes seemingly correctly in a reasonable amount of
time. The freeze is gone.

4) I'm trying to isolate where the problem occurrs. I will post here when/if I
discover something.

Thanks,

George...

At a guess, you've got some custom color profiles installed, one of which is
broken and causes Krita 4.1.7 to abort on start. Either remove the corrupt
profile (you'll have to move all of them out of the system location and move
them back in one by one) or try to use the current nightly builds:
https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Krita_Nightly_Windows_Build/ which work
around broken profiles.

[dolphin] [Bug 406460] New: Dolphin freezes or crashes when opening a mounted cifs share over slow VPN

2019-04-12 Thread Christian Schütze
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406460

Bug ID: 406460
Summary: Dolphin freezes or crashes when opening a mounted cifs
share over slow VPN
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 18.12.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: schuetze.christia...@gmail.com
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

I'm using a mounted cifs share of my NAS and sometimes if I'm working remotely
(via VPN) using the share will freeze or crash dolphin. Using LAN is totally
fine and everything works as expected. Also if working remotely a standard
smb:// access is also working fine (if the connection is slow, it might show an
empty folder for some time before showing the contents, but it stays
responsive). However using the same share via mounted cifs share dolphin starts
freezing and suddenly also crashes as the connection is slow.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Mount a network cifs share (in my case freenas)
2. Connect to external network (in the best case for this to happen - a slow
one)
3. Connect to VPN
4. Access share (Open folders, quickly going up and down in the folder
structure)

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin is fetching the folders contents (while it fetches these the folder is
empty) and then starts freezing if I'm switching folders (most probably because
it fetches the subdirectory sizes) and might also crash after a short time of
unresponsiveness.

EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin should never freeze or crash while accessing a mounted cifs share
remotely via VPN. Longer loading times should be indicated not by an empty
folder but a loading bar somewhere (maybe reuse of free space bar in the bottom
right like then access is done via smb://)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20190408
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.56.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This might not happen if the folders are small and contain only a few items or
the connection is good.

[KDynamicJobTracker] When kuiserver isn't available, also fall back to widget
dialog

It asks kuiserver whether we need to display a widget job tracker.
However, kuiserver itself might not be available at this point, so handle the
call itself failing, too.

Just as note - using Blur effect on a non-white layer also causes blurred white
borders to appear and I'm kinda sure it wasn't always like this. If there was
some update that changed blur algorithm(s), maybe the answer to the problem is
somewhere there?

[plasma-integration] [Bug 406464] New: Unexpected folder selection in native QFileDialog

2019-04-12 Thread Michael Weghorn
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406464

Bug ID: 406464
Summary: Unexpected folder selection in native QFileDialog
   Product: plasma-integration
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: m.wegh...@posteo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 119370
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=119370&action=edit
Sample program that opens QFileDialog to select directory

SUMMARY

When using the native Plasma file dialog to select a directory, clicking on a
directory and confirming will not select the selected directory, but the "base
directory" currently shown in the dialog.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create test directories: 'mkdir /tmp/testdir/subdir'
2. compile attached sample program ("main.cpp") that opens a file dialog to
select a directory
3. start the program
4. navigate into directory "/tmp/testdir"
5. click on directory "subdir"
6. click the "Open" button
  -> dialog closes
7. check what directory has been selected (printed on stdout for the sample
program)

OBSERVED RESULT

The folder "/tmp/testdir/" has been selected.

EXPECTED RESULT

Expected result: The folder "/tmp/testdir/subdir" should be selected.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Debian

Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux testing (with plasma-integration 5.14.5-1,
libkf5kiowidgets5 5.54.1-1)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
Qt Version: 5.11.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Kernel Version: 4.19.0-4-amd64
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

* The non-native QFileDialog behaves as expected, which can be tested by
forcing QFileDialog to use non-native mode (s. line 11, currently commented
out). When clicking a directory, it updates that shown path accordingly and the
test program prints the path after clicking the "Choose" button.
* The attached screenshots show the native and non-native dialogs at the point
in time the corresponding buttons are clicked.
* The Qt documentation for QFileDialog ([1]) mentions: "Returns a list of
strings containing the absolute paths of the selected files in the dialog. If
no files are selected, or the mode is not ExistingFiles or ExistingFile,
selectedFiles() contains the current path in the viewport." -- I don't thinks
this describes what happens here, though.
* Commenting out 'dialog.setFileMode(QFileDialog::FileMode::Directory);' in
line 12 in the sample program makes the QFileDialog behave as expected.
However, that will make folder selection impossible with the non-native
QFileDialog (so behaviour differs here as well).

That's part of the plan, yes. When KIO automatically mounts URLs to local

Elisa from git master.

1. Click on "Artists" on the sidebar
2. Find an artist with multiple albums
3. Click on the Play button on the artist

The artist's albums are added to the playlist with the songs all mixed up,
rather than in the correct order. This is 100% reproducible for me with all
albums and artists when using git master. See attached screenshot.

On all of the views that display individual songs, single-clicking on a song
does nothing. It should instead immediately play the clicked-upon song. Maybe
the defaulty click action could be configurable in settings, with the options
being to play or add to playlist.

But having it do *nothing* on click is extremely frustrating, especially
considering that there's a highlight effect when the cursor passes over a song.
Highlight effects generally mean "something will happen when you click this",
so violating that is not good.

I can use Elisa to view metadata, but not edit it. My most common use case for
this is changing/correcting the genre of an album. I prefer to use Genre as the
base level of organization (I do Genre > Artist > Album) but most music I buy
comes tagged with the wrong genre, so I often need to change it.

Not being able to edit metadata in Elisa means I have to do this with 3rd-party
software like Picard, but this is made more difficult than necessary due to the
lack of Bug 406471. If this feature were implemented, I wouldn't feel the need
for Bug 406471 so strongly.

[ktouch] [Bug 406473] New: Accuracy score does not account for character omission

2019-04-12 Thread kde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406473

Bug ID: 406473
Summary: Accuracy score does not account for character omission
   Product: ktouch
   Version: 18.12.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: sebastian.gottfr...@posteo.de
  Reporter: k...@chrisittner.de
  Target Milestone: ---

If I accidentally *mistype* one character followed by five correct characters
(before noticing the typo), this counts as one single typo on my accuracy
score.
If I accidentally *omit* one character followed by five correct characters,
this counts as six typos on my accuracy score.

As a result, omitting a character (and noticing it late) results in a large
drop in accuracy. This is not very intuitive.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start any ktouch lesson.
2. omit one character, type a few more.
3. observe how your accuracy score plummets.

OBSERVED RESULT
The accuracy score penalizes omitted characters much harsher than misspellings,
in case one doesn't notice immediately.

EXPECTED RESULT
Omitting a character and typing a wrong character should result in a similar
penalty.
A natural behavior would be: If a character is omitted, the following
characters should be highlighted as errors (underlined in red), but only the
first incorrect character should count against the accuracy score.

[kstars] [Bug 406446] Ekos fails to recognise Astrometry index files

Hello Jasem,

I installed KStars/INDI on my laptop essentially following the same
procedure I had used for the RPi. I followed the procedure given in the
INDI/Support/Tutorials/Ekos on Raspberry PI Beginner's Guide.

I downloaded the Astrometry index files following the instructions in
http://indilib.org/about/ekos/alignment-module.html
. I downloaded
and installed all the .deb packages. These are in /usr/share/astrometry.
The only file in ~/.local/share/kstars/astrometry is an astrometry.cfg
file. This contains the lines:

add_path /usr/share/astrometry
add_path /home/zac/.local/share/kstars/astrometry

The Ekos/alignment/options/Astrometry.net Configure-KStars screen lists
the config file as /etc/astrometry.cfg. This file only contains the line:

add_path /usr/share/astrometry

The Ekos/alignment/options/Index Files Configure-KStars screen lists the
Index File Location as /usr/share/astrometry (blanked out). Clicking on
the "Open" button next to the file location opens /usr/share/astrometry
and shows all the index files are present.

Very plain Genre view

Genre view is my preferred base level of navigation, and I'm happy that Elisa
has it. However it's currently a very plain view because each genre has the
same icon, negating the purpose of using icons. Any view where each item has
the same icon is generally not a good candidate for being an icon grid.

I recommend either setting custom images for each genre, or else making it a
list-style view and removing the icons.

I would actually prefer to have all the genres listed in the sidebar, if
possible. Lollypop does this and I really like it.

The Artist view grid is visually overwhelming and very difficult to navigate
due to the use of the same icon for every artist. It suffers from the same
problem as Bug 406474. See screenshot.

Lollypop automatically fetches artist artwork, which would be nice (see

would work too.

finally that artist's genres. It's really nice and very compact; as you can

Grid delegates: Elisa vs Lollypop

Elisa from git master.

The grid delegates in genre/artist/album views have three buttons that appear
on mouse hover. However they suffer from some issues:
- The grid delegates are quite small
- The entire grid delegate is not clickable; you need to click on one of the
individual icons
- All three icons are the same size
- When the icons appear, the art behind it becomes washed out and you can no
longer see what it is

I really like the way Lollypop handles this same situation. There, the grid
delegates are larger, and the whole thing is always clickable; a click takes
you into that item to the next level of navigation. However on hover,
additional buttons appear allowing you to play all items in it or add it to the
current playlist. These buttons cover up some of the art, but most of it is
still visible.

See attached comparison screenshot.

How Lollypop handles saved playlists

Right now Elisa does support user-saved playlists. You can save the current
playlist to disk, and open it later via the file open dialog. However this is a
pretty awkward workflow compared to other music players I've used. Here are
some ways that the UX could be inproved:

- When a playlist is saved, don't spawn a save dialog; instead, ask for a name
and automatically save it to an appropriate location on disk (presumably
somewhere in ~/Music?)
- All saved playlists should be visible in a new "Saved Playlists" item in the
sidebar

This would allow user-saved playlists to actually be useful because you could
access them quickly using the main UI rather than having to tediously open them
using a dialog.

I'm attaching a screenshot of how Lollypop does it, for comparison.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 406478] New: Show latest program window thumbnail in taskbar

Bug ID: 406478
Summary: Show latest program window thumbnail in taskbar

   Version: unspecified

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

 Component: components
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: watisthis...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Implement mode for taskbar that allows pausing programs but also stores and
shows the latest available thumbnail.
The taskbar should show the latest available thumbnail instead of changing it
to the app icon.

-Compositor's settings have Keep window thumbnails options Never, Only for
shown windows and Always.
Setting it to always shows a hint that says something along the lines "Always
showing window thumbnails disrupts minimized state of the windows. Hence some
windows won't stop their work when minimized."

-So, selecting the option Only for shown windows is required for some programs
like games to automatically pause their sound and graphics when they are
minimized. It is probably quite popular choice as many people don't want to
hear a game when they Alt-Tab out.

-This, however, is quite restrictive as it disables thumbnails for every
minimized window.
Now the thumbnail for minimized window is just the program icon, which is
normally already visible on left of the program name (hence of no use). Latest
thumbnail, even if not completely up-to-date, would be much more helpful.
As I see it, the whole idea of thumbnails is to help identify the program
window and that would be especially important for minimized windows.
Maybe the mode should have a hint in compositor settings saying "thumbnails for
minimized windows may not be up-to-date".
Also, is it possible to detect paused programs and have only their thumbnail
generation paused?

-e.g. Microsoft Windows seems to mostly show the latest thumbnail

A quick fix would be to make the grid delegates larger, which would allow the
pretty art in album view to be more prominent. However this would exacerbate
the issues with Genre and Artist views that currently have generic icons See
Bug 406474 and Bug 406475). Those issues could be solved by making them lists

> It's not necessary to use kpart. We have a lib for my highlighting.
> For sure if we have a code block callback I will be able to highlight it.

Laurent, Discount dev has finished implementing this and asks if you could
please test it:

"It Works For Me(tm) -- can the Kmail crew check it out for nontrivial external
formatting (I don't do any syntax highlighting in my little test callback, I
just wanted to make certain it works)?"

Hi, it was at wintab and I tried to set it to windows 8 pointer. Not much
difference in lagging but some improvement on drawing without touch.
I will report back after installing the latest nightly build. Thank you.

Elided sidebar text

Elisa from git master.

Sidebar items' text gets elided for window sizes any smaller than being
maximized. See attached screenshot. In English, this affects "Recently Played"
and "Frequently Playing", and I imagine the problem is even worse in languages
where test is generally longer.

It seems like there are two problems here:
1. The sidebar dynamically resizes itself according to the window width instead
of being a fixed size according to the length of the longest string
2. Sidebar items' text is really large, exacerbating problem #1.

Hi,

What you did seems to be OK!
Just to be sure, when you launch:
skrooge --version
do you have this ?
skrooge 2.19.0BETA

I did a new commit with more traces.
Could you do that?
1- build and install this new version
2- export SKGTRACE=3
3- skrooge > traces.txt 2>&1
4- do the import
5- Send me the generated traces by email (you can find it in the "About" of

It uses stat ctime as creation time, but it is the change status time.

To get the creation time, also called birth time, of files, there is a new
syscall statx more complete than stat available since glib 2.28.

Art visible in Dolphin, but not visible in Elisa

Elisa and all KDE frameworks from git master.

Elisa is now very good at displaying album art. However I still have a few
albums whose art doesn't show up despite it being embedded in the file. For
these albums, Dolphin is capable of showing the embedded artwork, but Elisa
doesn't see it. See attached screenshot.

[KUrlNavigator] Fix URL navigation when exiting archive with krarc and Dolphin

Summary:
If Krusader is installed, the `krarc` protocol is available and Dolphin may use
it to open ZIP archives. In this case, when the user goes back to a parent
folder outside the archive, a "file or folder does not exist" error will be
returned. This can be fixed by including krarc in the URL scheme check inside
the `KUrlNavigator::setLocationUrl` method.
FIXED-IN: 5.58

Test Plan:
1. Install Krusader and Dolphin.
2. Enable "Open archives as folder" in Dolphin and open a zip file using the
`krarc` protocol. (Change `zip:` to `karc:` when applicable.)
3. Click on the breadcrumb in the location area for a parent folder which is
outside the archive.

[frameworks-kfilemetadata] [Bug 406116] Baloo_file_extractor Crashes in kfilemetadata_epubextractor.so

Run `balooctl monitor` in a terminal window and leave it running.

Then in another terminal window or tab, turn off Baloo and turn it back on with
`balooctl disable && balooctl enable`

The terminal window/tab with the monitor running will show you in real-time
which file it's indexing.

Eventually Baloo will crash, and the last file listed in the monitor window/tab
will be the file it crashed on. Then you can attach that file to the bug.

SUMMARY
As a user, I would like to be able to use *.cube 3D LUT files to modify
pictures.

BACKGROUND
Currently, it is possible to import custom *.png 3D LUT files but it is
impossible to import *.cube files which are a quite popular format. It would be
nice to have this possibility. The codec must be implemented. There is the
topic where I asked about it:
http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/Lut3D-in-digiKam-td4695429.html

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
There is a possibility to import *.cube 3D LUT file and apply it to pictures
using 3D LUT option in the editor.
