[konsole] [Bug 417469] New: Konsole scroll bar is difficult to see with a black background
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417469 Bug ID: 417469 Summary: Konsole scroll bar is difficult to see with a black background Product: konsole Version: 19.08.1 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org Reporter: p...@pmarks.net Target Milestone: --- STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch Konsole 2. Set the color scheme to "Linux Colors", or anything with a black background 3. Do anything that requires scrolling OBSERVED RESULT The scroll bar is rendered as dark grey on black (see attached screenshot.) I have at least average vision, and I have to hold my face up to the screen and squint to determine the scroll position. EXPECTED RESULT The scroll bar should have reasonable contrast, and there should be an option to revert to the system-wide theme. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS I'm currently using Konsole 19.08.1 with LxQt 0.14.1 on Debian testing. The problem also occurs on my work computer with Cinnamon. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This started a few years ago, when Konsole (unnecessarily, imho) switched to a custom scrollbar. I've been using the blue "Solarized" theme to work around the problem, but I prefer black. This was reported twice on the forums: - https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=227=142814 - https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=227=156174 The latter speculates that https://phabricator.kde.org/D11184 is the cause. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 417464] New: Limit battery charging to e.g. 80% to improve battery lifetime
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417464 Bug ID: 417464 Summary: Limit battery charging to e.g. 80% to improve battery lifetime Product: Powerdevil Version: unspecified Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kje...@kjernsmo.net Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY There's an interesting article on prolonging battery life at: https://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries They recommend: "To make this feature user-friendly, a device should feature a “Long Life” mode that keeps the battery at 4.05V/cell and offers a SoC of about 80 percent. One hour before traveling, the user requests the “Full Capacity” mode to bring the charge to 4.20V/cell." So, it is basically my wish that this is implemented in KDE. You can't do that now, right? If not, it seems like Powerdevil would be a nice place to have a setting that limits the charge to a certain percentage of full, and then possibly a plasmoid or something that makes it really easy to override that like they suggest. If I understand it correctly, there is stuff in TLP that can help with this, at least on some system, but I don't know if that's the appropriate way to implement it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 417471] New: Add a new column with a new tag "check back later"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417471 Bug ID: 417471 Summary: Add a new column with a new tag "check back later" Product: kmail2 Version: 5.12.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: alexandre.bonn...@linuxfr.eu Target Milestone: --- In kmail there are two great features ; you can configure the columns shown to display an icon for important messages, as well as an icon for the TODO tag. Also, when you click those icons, you simply toggle the important/not important state, or the TODO/DONE one. When the important state is used, the mail text color is shown in red. When the TODO tag is used, the mail text color is shown in green. This is great, and allow an efficient workflow. But that workflow could be improved with a small addition : When you receive some mails, you often have a choice to make : - The mail is basic information -> Read it directly and be done with it - The mail contains information you need to act on -> Read it and set the TODO tag (so you get a nice color you can identify easily while browsing your previous mails to search for unfinished todos) - The mail contains information that you worked on, then replied to with a question of your own. -> Now, since some people are unreliable and may miss your email, you WILL need to check later if you got an answer. To do that you need to mark that initial email as "Check back later" (which could color the text in pink for instance). This way you know you _already have done the work_, but only need to ping again the person you answered to. This "Check back later" tag (name to be defined) is different than the "TODO" one since a todo means some amount of work have to be done (and that take time), while "Check back later" only needs you to resend a quick message like "Hey, I haven't heard about you on this subject. Could you please get back to me whenever you're available? xoxoxo". This would go a long way to improve a mail management workflow, and be sure to not miss anything (this is loosely based on the Get Things Done methodology). Bonus : Even better, when adding a 'check back later' tag to an email, it could automatically create a task (like you can already do) and just asks for the date and hour, the default calendar being configured somewhere else. Right now once you created a task from kmail, you have no indication if a particular email has tasks attached to it, or even if those tasks are done. So the main purpose of this wish is to have a way to color an email with a one click toggle like the TODO one. Regards -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417416 Bug ID: 417416 Summary: Hide background when not needed doesn't work as expected Product: lattedock Version: git (master) Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: application Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com Reporter: ra...@foxmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY A dock with 'Hide background when not needed' checked won't hide its background when using 'Show Desktop' provided by KDE. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add a dock with 'Hide background when not needed' checked, dodging active. 2. Move an active window behind the dock to make the background of the dock visible. 3. Use the 'Show Desktop' function provided by KDE. (In my case, I bind a corner action to show the desktop.) OBSERVED RESULT No windows are present on the desktop. [valgrind] [Bug 416436] Unrecognised instruction at address 0x1006037BD (__pthread_init.cold.2) macOS 10.15
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416436 --- Comment #2 from Louis Brunner --- Created attachment 125843 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=125843=edit Fix _pthread_init illegal instruction by providing ptr_munge I have been investigating the problem and I have a fix (patch included). Some context: it is difficult to be sure without the libpthread sources for 10.15, but if you check libpthread-330.250.2 (for 10.14), you will find a parse_ptr_munge_params function that tries to get ptr_munge value from the environment (through the Apple environment or an actual environment variable, PTHREAD_PTR_MUNGE_TOKEN). In previous versions, __pthread_init would just carry on even if the value wasn't defined, but while stepping through the code, I have found that macOS 10.15 seems to crash using the ud2 instruction just after the environment variable check, hinting that this value is now required. My patch adds PTHREAD_PTR_MUNGE_TOKEN with a value of 1 everytime valgrind starts a program. Note that a value of 0 is considered an error by pthread. Disclaimer: while I found where ptr_munge is generated (kernel) and used (some kind of conversion in jmp instructions in libplatform), I don't understand what it does exactly. On the other hand, the dummy value doesn't seem to make a difference when executing a program with valgrind. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Is this still a problem? If so which versions of libsmbclient are you using? >From looking at the current GVFS code gnome does pretty much what we do, which is to say it tells libsmbclient to use kerberos and only if that fails fall back to NTLM, so I would rather expect the same timeout. [libtaskmanager] Fix shared VirtualDesktopInfo::Private tied to the 1st creator Summary: VirtualDesktopInfo::Private is ref counted and shared between N VirtualDesktopInfo's. We were passing the first VirtualDesktopInfo as a parent to VirtualDesktopInfo::Private which didn't manage the lifespan or do anything useful. The wayland backend incorrectly used this 'q' object and spanned mulitple internal objects and connections to the first object that created the shared private instance, leaving us with dangly objects inside.
