STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Press Ctrl+L to start editing the current path. 2. Press the Tab key to "complete" the current path entry. OBSERVED RESULT After pressing Ctrl+L to make the location bar editable, the full path is selected but pressing Tab moves the focus from the location bar. EXPECTED RESULT On pressing Ctrl+L the current path is selected and pressing Tab "completes" the path and allows continued editing of the path. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon 5.19 KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.72.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION It is still possible to use the End key here, but this requires more movement away from the home row when typing than using the Tab key does. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424995 Bug ID: 424995 Summary: Secondary display resolution lost when attached when the display is powered-down Product: kwin Version: 5.18.5 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: multi-screen Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: soltesz.and...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY KDE switches to the lowest possible resolution when a secondary display is attached but not yet turned on. It never restores the correct resolution when the displayed is powered up, detached and reattached. I use a USB-C port replicator with my XPS 9360 laptop and a fullHD display attached via an HDMI cable to the replicator. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Attach the USB-c port replicator to the machine with the HDMI cable already attached but the display itself powered down 2. A new display appears in the Settings > Displays with 480p resolution (DP-1) but of course cannot be used. 3. Power-up the external display 4. KDE will switch the display to 480p resolution and the displays becomes usable 5. Detach the port replicator and re-attach it. A proper display name will now appear in Displays. OBSERVED RESULT KDE still keeps the 480p resolution instead of switching to the correct, last known resolution of the display EXPECTED RESULT KDE restores the correct, last-known resolution of the display. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 20.04 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION It is like KDE somehow identifies a virtual display on the port replicator and handles that instead of the actual display at the other end of the port replicator. [Discover] [Bug 424994] New: Warn about insufficient package security
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424994 Bug ID: 424994 Summary: Warn about insufficient package security Product: Discover Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: discover Assignee: lei...@leinir.dk Reporter: lq1prs+2rm8s1mam7fmjxo0...@sharklasers.com CC: aleix...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Please add the following security warnings to Discover: - No/Insufficient Transport Encryption - No/Insufficient Package Signing - No/Insufficient Repository Signing - No/Insufficient Security Notifications - Package Is Not Reproducible - Package Cannot Be Cross-Checked No/Insufficient Transport Encryption Transport encryption can mitigate critical package manager vulnerabilities such as https://justi.cz/security/2019/01/22/apt-rce.html, provided that the mirror that's being used is not compromised. In most Linux distributions though, either the package manager downloads packages over plain HTTP/FTP, or the mirrors sync over plain rsync, or both. Solus is one notable exception [1]. No/Insufficient Package Signing === Package signing prevents compromised mirrors from serving malicious packages. Guilty: Solus [1], KaOS [2]. No/Insufficient Repository Signing == Repository signing prevents compromised mirrors from withholding security updates. Guilty: Arch Linux [3], Manjaro [4]. No/Insufficient Security Notifications == Even with signed packages and repositories, a compromised mirror can still withhold security updates until the user notices the lack of updates or the repository expires. This can be solved by fetching security notifications from the distribution's official servers. As far as I know, Fedora is the only distribution that implements this [5]. Package Is Not Reproducible === Reproducible builds allow anyone to check if a binary package corresponds to its source code by building the source code themselves and comparing the output with the original binary package. This makes it very easy to detect backdoors introduced during the compilation process. >From https://reproducible-builds.org/: "[...] most software is distributed pre-compiled with no method to confirm whether they correspond. [...] This incentivises attacks on developers who release software, not only via traditional exploitation, but also in the forms of political influence, blackmail or even threats of violence." "This ability to notice if a developer has been compromised then deters such threats or attacks occurring in the first place as any compromise would be quickly detected. This offers comfort to front-liners that they not only can [not] be threatened, but they would not be coerced into exploiting or exposing their colleagues or end-users." Package Cannot Be Cross-Checked === Cross-checking packages against multiple independent mirrors (or even against packages downloaded by other users via peer-to-peer communication) would prevent an attacker who has compromised the developer and one of the mirrors from serving a backdoored package to a specific user who's using the said compromised mirror. I don't know of any Linux distribution or package manager that implements this. In fact, I got this idea from some obscure article that I can't even find anymore... To try and explain this better, assuming a folder structure of: 1 - A - B 2 STEPS TO REPRODUCE If the tabs are: | 1 | 2 | Opening 'A' folder from '1': | 1 | A | 2 | Opening 'B' folder immediately after from '1' | 1 | B | A | 2 | EXPECTED RESULT If the tabs are: | 1 | 2 | Opening 'A' folder from '1': | 1 | A | 2 | Opening 'B' folder immediately after from '1' | 1 | A | B | 2 | SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon 5.19 KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.72.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[frameworks-kio] [Bug 424990] New: Tab key changes focus from field with Automatic and Short Automatic completion rather than completing current path
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424990 Bug ID: 424990 Summary: Tab key changes focus from field with Automatic and Short Automatic completion rather than completing current path Product: frameworks-kio Version: 5.72.0 Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: URL navigator Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: carmanau...@gmail.com CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The Tab key behaviour with the Automatic and Short Automatic completion options does not work as expected, moving the focus from the editable location bar, rather than completing the path. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start typing an existing path and be presented with the with some faded completion text, e.g. using '/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org' will present either the first sub-directory ('org.kde.desktopcontainment' for me) for Automatic completion or the shortened common path ('org.kde.') for Short Automatic completion. 2. Press the Tab key to accept the completion. OBSERVED RESULT Pressing the Tab key completes the path entry as per the completion, but moves the focus from the location bar. EXPECTED RESULT Pressing the Tab key completes the path entry as per the completion and the focus stays in the location bar. A subsequent press of the Tab key would then move the focus out of the location bar. My expectation for what happens here comes from a combination of familiarity with shell-style completion and previous use of Nautilus for some of the path editing behaviour (the behaviour is consistent in other GTK based file managers as well). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krusader] [Bug 424189] Krusader file copy failing for larger files in Ubuntu 20.04
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424189 --- Comment #2 from Judy Kerr --- Hi Christoph, thanks for the reply. We don't currently have Dolphin installed, but we will put it on and give it a try to see what happens. It may well be a supporting component that's implicated, but I did check that we had KIO Extras installed and at the latest version. No-one else seems to have reported this exact problem, so maybe that suggests there is an issue on one of our machines. I will get back to you. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 391430] "Tags already assigned" button configuration is not saved between sessions.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391430 --- Comment #3 from MarcP --- I woukd really like if this feature was implemented. It seems quite simple, but it would save me quite a lot of time, since I activate that option manually every time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[digikam] [Bug 416213] People tags appear duplicated after having moved them in the tag tree, if the tag was already present at /People/
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416213 --- Comment #14 from MarcP --- This problem still exists, but has a difficult solution because face rectangles cannot store a hierarchy. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
