I'm also not experiencing this problem anymore.

Similar to Ricardo I'm not sure if an Akonadi update (21.12.3 to 22.04.3) or a
MariaDB update (10.6.8 to 10.6.10) fixed it.

Cannot confirm this is fixed, the crash can still be reproduced with 5.19.3
(i.e. v21.12.3) as well as git master as of today:

- Compose new mail
- Add 1...@a.com, 2...@a.com, 3...@a.com as recipients, save those as
distribution list
"A"
- Select Recipients, unfold "A", click on first entry (1...@a.com), hold down
shift key, click on last entry ("3...@a.com")
- Observe crash (same backtrace as above: KCrash Handler points to
"QSortFilterProxyModel::sibling")

Note that the crash only occurs if all of the following conditions are met:
- Recipients are selected from a distribution list.
- Shift-Selection is used (instead of Ctrl-selection).
- At least 3 recipients are shift-selected.
- Shift-selection is performed by clicking (not via the keyboard).

I think you are right that something is wrong in kdev-css. See e.g.
https://invent.kde.org/kdevelop/kdev-php/-/blob/master/parser/CMakeLists.txt

Try to enclose the test code in kdev-css/CMakeLists.txt in the `if
(BUILD_TESTING)` block. If it works well, please create a merge request.

Did you know you can already paint on the selection? If you check "Show global
selection mask" on the "Select" menu, a selection mask appears on the layer
docker. If you select it you can paint on it. Although a quicker way of
toggling selection/current-layer painting would be great.

Still, I think my idea of just using painting tools with a special drawing mode
is better and more powerful (for the reasons I've stated in my second post).

[digikam] [Bug 460111] New: Photo with location does not show location

2022-10-08 Thread emilise
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460111

Bug ID: 460111
Summary: Photo with location does not show location
Classification: Applications
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.8.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Geolocation-Engine
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: emilise.vic...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello

I have some photos that do have location data, yet Digikam does not show that
they have location.
If I go to Edit Geolocation box, the location is actually shown there, and if I
copy, paste, apply, then the location shows in Digikam...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import attached photo in digikam. In thumbnails view, the photo does not
show the earth symbol. Open Map right panel : it says no geolocation
information available.
2. Edit Geolocation for this photo. You can see the latitude and longitude for
the photo. With right click, copy then paste coordinates from the photo on
itself. Apply. Close
3. The earth symbol now shows on the photo. The map displays the right location
in the map right panel.

EXPECTED RESULT
The location should be parsed without requiring any data edition.

2022-10-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457655

I figured out the process that will causing the crash. If you select "English
Title Case" followed by opening the QML console, both from the context menu,
Kid3 will crash when closing the application. It doesn't matter the order of
which you select. You can open the QML console first and then select "English
Title Case", but both actions have to be performed to reproduce the crash.

Git commit 62e5bb37a2c4751d5298aba8b4937feef31af9c9 by Bharadwaj Raju.
Committed on 08/10/2022 at 09:48.
Pushed by bharadwaj-raju into branch 'master'.

If an app is playing media but hasn't provided a title, say as much instead of
"No media playing"

Certain apps, like GNOME's Totem, provide a very rudimentary MPRIS interface
with next-to-no
metadata. Currently the applet and lockscreen show "No media playing" when
these apps play something, which is
inaccurate. Change the message in case of (playing || paused) && !title to "No
title".

For information, I found the same issue with several books that were given for
2 other books bought.

For example “Une vie merveilleuse” by Laurie Collins (Editor: Le Livre de
Poche)
They display the (pretended) ISBN# on the back of the book: “ISBN :
301-0-000-03813-9”
The ISBN# for the buyable book is 978-2-253-06696-5 (but the cover is very
slight different as the gift book has a small patch saying it’s 1 free for 2
bought).

I was ready to open a bug for that but I saw this ticket : Does anyone know how
to open a bug on the editor side? /o\

The symbol for geological information is displayed here without problems. We
know the problem that under Windows, the metadata is sometimes not fully
recorded during the first scan. The cause is probably that the image is open in
other processes under Windows and is therefore locked for digiKam.
Reread the metadata of the image (item or album menu).

I also found the culprit: you must enable the KDE wallet subsystem in KDE

You can use the "Show global selection mask"
action/shortcut/button-in-the-toolbar to activate/deactivate the global
selection and paint on it. The effect is very similar to what you propose.

[kwin] [Bug 460115] New: Active window isn't highlighted in any way.

2022-10-08 Thread leftcrane
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460115

Bug ID: 460115
Summary: Active window isn't highlighted in any way.
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.25.5
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-overview
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: leftcr...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Active window should be marked somehow so the user doesn't lose his place. Bear
in mind that there are three areas that potentially might need highlighting: 1)
the active window 2) the window that's focused via keyboard (arrow/tab keyboard
navigation is currently missing but presumably it will be added later) 3) the
window that the mouse hovers over, AFTER being moved.

It isn't trivial to figure out the optimal UI here, so I recommend just copying
whatever Gnome does for starters. Their overview is ten years old, so
presumably its UI makes sense.

[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 458341] KWallet/SecretService: Support "plain" algorithm for DBus communications

> The upgrade today was from KWallet 5.96.0 to 5.98.0.

5.97 introduced Secret Service API support in KWallet, there was no Service
Service support at all prior to that. The "plain" algorithm discussed here is
specifically the "plain" algorithm for the Secret Service API, which was never
implemented.

What I suspect in your case, is possibly the VPN client was using the Secret
Service API to store its credentials in Gnome keyring. You can try disabling
Secret Service support in the KWallet settings to see if that resolves your
issue (you may need to kill the `kwalletd5` process or restart the PC for the
change to take effect). If that doesn't help, you'll need to provide more
details on the software you are using. But this is not likely to be related to
this issue.

[KScreen] [Bug 416475] Display Configuration not saved properly on Wayland with multiple monitors

2022-10-08 Thread Amado
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416475

Amado changed:

I recently installed Nobara Linux, and the version I chose comes with Wayland.

When I was initially installing the OS, the live USB installation configured my
triple monitors just fine, but once I installed it onto my hard drive, as soon
as the first boot I was running across the issues noted above.

I have 3 monitors, 2 of them are identical (and I suspect this may have
something to do with it, I'm not sure) and the other is from HP.
I have the two identical monitors (ONN monitors) on the sides of the HP
monitor.

When I log on, the two ONN monitors mirror each other and I have to go into
Display settings to change it.
But when the settings open up, I only see 2 monitors, and it's not until I
click on the ONN monitor to the right of my HP monitor that the other monitor
pops up BEHIND it (its the weirdest thing).
Once that third monitor finally shows up, then I'm able to move them to the
right place, and when I hit apply the changes happen (my monitors are on the
right place) but the (*) at the top of the window showing that there are
unsaved changes doesn't go away because I assume it hasn't properly applied
these new settings to a config file. And again, when I click to close the
settings window, it asks me if I'm sure I want to leave without saving (again,
clicking save doesn't have any effect).

These are my settings in
$HOME/.local/share/kscreen/140737127c1f84dab4342c93476a5523 (the only config
file there)

As you can see, it seems like on bootup the system only recognizes 2 monitors
(the HP, and ONE of the ONN ones) and its not until I open up settings that it
finally sees the other, but again these changes don't actually persist.

One more peculiar thing is that I have the task manger panels on all 3 of my

No problems on the HP monitor, that one shows the right taks. No problems on
the ONN monitor on the right, that one also shows the right tasks. But the

Just adding another data point:

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #214)
> […]
> As I said, if we do our own thing to fix it for only KDE apps, or only for
> Qt apps, we make apps' presentation of formats inconsistent across the OS.
> […]

In corner cases, it already *is* inconsistent.

I was desperately trying to find a locale where Qt/KDE *and* the rest of my
system use ISO date format and 24h time format. I failed. And I now understand
why:

(In reply to Kevin Kofler from comment #220)
> […] Qt does not actually use POSIX locales
> internally, but ICU locales, and has a hardcoded mapping from POSIX to ICU
> locales. […]

It seems that mapping is not (and probably cannot be) perfect.

I worked around the problem as follows: It turned out that for Qt/KDE there is
the en_SE locale, which provides the format I want, but that locale does not
exist in the POSIX world. However, for POSIX the de_BE locale provides the
format I want. So I ended up creating an en_SE POSIX locale by simply
symlinking en_SE to de_BE and using en_SE system-wide (i.e., in the Qt/KDE
world as well as in the POSIX world) for date and time. It is still not perfect
because long date format is still inconsistent, but I can tolerate that.

PS: In case this is relevant: I am using Arch Linux.

PPS: If you search for an alternative POSIX locale providing ISO date format,
here is a list:

> localectl list-locales | while IFS='' read -r; do echo -n "$REPLY | ";
> LC_TIME="$REPLY" date -d '2022-01-03 13:02:01' '+%a | %A | %b | %B | %c | %p

As it happens: life got in the way in a major way, but I did create a thread on

[kwin] [Bug 460118] New: In KWin Wayland session, cursor does not change correctly when hovering over certain GUI elements

2022-10-08 Thread Kyle Devir
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460118

Bug ID: 460118
Summary: In KWin Wayland session, cursor does not change
correctly when hovering over certain GUI elements
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: platform-drm
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kyle.de...@mykolab.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update to latest KDE Git via kdesrc-build
2. Backup and / or delete ~/.cache/
3. Fully restart KWin Wayland by logging out and logging back in

OBSERVED RESULT
Cursor does not change correctly in response to hovering over particular GUI
elements. For example, when hovering over click-and-drag resizable elements,
the cursor will not become what it becomes in X11, but turn into a normal
pointer that is misaligned to the element it is hovering over. As soon as the
element isn't being hovered over, the cursor shifts back to normal. Same result
when hovering over editable text box elements.

Cursor sometimes shifts bizarrely from state to state when changing the GUI
element being hovered over.

Will try to capture a video, but don't know how to do so in a Wayland session
right now, alas.

EXPECTED RESULT
Cursor should act in a KWin Wayland session as it does in an KWin X11 session.

Hi Martin

Thanks for the reply :-)

apt the package manager reports: -

When i try and build the package

:-(
Your logs are saved in file:///home/clive/kde/src/log/2022-10-08-05

The build log shows the following

I did a search for the qwaylandwindow_p.h file from the root directory with

./usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtWaylandClient/5.15.2/QtWaylandClient/private/qwaylandwindow_p.h

It has the Distribution version from QT 5.15.2 and a private built latest
version QT 6.5.0

Is there a predefined path in a make file that is not one of the above?

Thanks for your support, and I look forward to your reply

Regards

I'm a very happy user of Digikam for years now, about 100.000 photos, I don't
know how big is the tags tree, etc.
I'm using the windows version, and photos are on a synology NAS
I recently installed exiftool on the NAS itself, and when I have to run
exiftool, instead of running it from my laptop, I open a SSH connection with my
NAs and execute the exiftool command on it.
there's no file transfer on network, it's extremely fast. And that's good :-)
Is it something that could be managed with Digikam ? executing remotely
exiftool ?
that would be a great performances improvement
thanks for what you do

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 5.23.3 is no longer supported by KDE; supported versions are
5.18, 5.24, and 5.25 or newer.
Your distribution is responsible for providing support for older versions of
KDE software.

Please do one of the following:
- Upgrade to a supported version and see if the issue is still relevant
- Report the issue to your distribution

We don't support Flatpak, Flatpak uses a sandbox, so you have no rights outside
of your home directory. Use Flatseal to configure the rights or use our
AppImage if your distribution is not able to provide current native digiKam
packages.

[digikam] [Bug 460121] what about executing exiftool on the NAS instead of the client?

If I remember correctly, the development of ExifTool on NAS by an external
developer has stopped. We currently do not plan to support it. Since we need
the file anyway to create thumbnails or file hash, we can also use ExifTool
locally.
