[kwin] [Bug 461782] Something to do with windows management crashed or froze, system went totally berserk, forced me to reboot

I believe I'm experiencing the same issue: after a while kwin crashes (window
decorations disappear) and one has to restart it (`kwin_x11 --replace`); then
it repeats again.

After the crash, there are these messages in the terminal:

```
kwin_core: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 41305, resource id: 144759611,
major code: 129 (SHAPE), minor code: 6 (Input)
qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 41306, resource
id: 144759611, major code: 2 (ChangeWindowAttributes), minor code: 0
The X11 connection broke: I/O error (code 1)
X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
file:///usr/share/kwin/outline/plasma/outline.qml:14: TypeError: Cannot read
property 'longDuration' of null
```

The XCB errors are numerous, but the X11 connection error appears only at the
end.

Am experiencing this in Ubuntu 22.10 (X11 session), which includes
- KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.4
- KDE Frameworks Version: 5.100.0
- Qt Version: 5.15.6
- Kernel Version: 5.19.0-26-generic (64-bit)

KWin reports my system as:
OpenGL vendor string: Intel
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa Intel(R) Xe Graphics (TGL GT2)
OpenGL version string: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 22.2.1
OpenGL shading language version string: 4.60
Driver: Intel
GPU class: Tiger Lake
OpenGL version: 4.6
GLSL version: 4.60
Mesa version: 22.2.1
X server version:1.21.1
Linux kernel version: 5.19
Requires strict binding: yes
GLSL shaders: yes

Hope this helps to isolate and solve the issue...

The user has no indication to which page the annotation refers. It is simply a
big mess that makes this functionality unusable. No pdf software behaves this
way, there must be a reason, don't you think?

Video of corectrl hung until moused over

SUMMARY
Applications will hang if not moused over for a random period of time, few
seconds to a minute. Notifications will also hang and stop counting down and
new notifications wont appear until one of the stuck notifications is moused
over.
I believe the applications are hanging as programs like corectrl will ask for
root permissions again if it was hung for awhile and my Discord status will
switch to offline if it has hung for awhile.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a gui application
2. leave it unfocused without the cursor hovering over it
3. wait for app to hang or gui elements to stop rendering new frames

OBSERVED RESULT
The app or notification hangs until moused over.

EXPECTED RESULT
The app shouldn't hang and notifications should continue to count down as
normal without needing to be moused over.

[frameworks-kglobalaccel] [Bug 453661] Shortcuts are not working across multiple keyboard layouts (US and CZ for me)

2022-12-23 Thread Andrey
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453661

I have a question to all the reporters.
The Qt patch I suggested upstream implies all the shortcuts on QWERTZ keyboard
will behave as if they were on QWERTY, assuming US is the first layout:
pressing Ctrl+z as it printed on the keycaps will produce Ctrl+Key_Y shortcut
instead.
This is not the behavior XOrg exposes: for Hebrew, Ctrl+; (a key below Esc)
will generate Ctrl+` there, but for German Ctrl+z (where "Z" is on the keycap
on QWERTZ) will still generate the same shortcut as printed.

Do you think it's OK to deviate from XOrg behavior in a such way?

The fonts in Kasts appear garbled and unreadable when font anti-aliasing is
disabled in Plasma's settings. This does not happen with other applications
that I have used, nor do fonts in Kasts look garbled when font anti-aliasing is
enabled.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Disable font anti-aliasing by going to System Settings > Appearance > Fonts
and unchecking the "Enable" checkbox for Anti-Aliasing.
2. Open Kasts.
3. User interface fonts in Kasts appear garbled and unreadable.

OBSERVED RESULT

Thanks for your response! Unfortunately nowadays I cannot reproduce this issue.
In the meantime I switched to the Firefox Browser, as more and more websites
did not work properly with Konqueror. In addition the specific website that
used SPNEGO that I had this issue with was shut down some years ago.

I am not familiar with this bug tracker and don't know the proper way for
closing this report. Therefore I change the status back to REPORTED. Feel free
to close this report as cancelled, irreproducible, or such.

[kdenlive] [Bug 463382] New: "Replace Clip" on an image in the Project Bin can result in bad clip timing on timeline

2022-12-23 Thread TheMogMiner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463382

Bug ID: 463382
Summary: "Replace Clip" on an image in the Project Bin can
result in bad clip timing on timeline
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 22.08.1
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: therealmogmi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 154775
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=154775=edit
Before replacement.

SUMMARY
If the user replaces an image clip in the Project Bin with another image clip,
and the clip is currently in-use on the timeline with a duration that does not
match the default duration for image clips in the user's settings, any uses of
that clip on the timeline will have their duration reset to the default
duration.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create two image assets of identical format and size. For the sake of
matching the attached screenshots, I will call them tv_icon.png and
music_icon.png, both 32-bit 64x64 PNGs with no compression.
2. Create an empty Kdenlive project.
3. Add one image to the Project Bin.
4. Drag the image clip into the Timeline.
5. Drag the length of the clip to be greater or less than the current default
length for image clips.
6. Right-click on the clip in the Project Bin.
7. Select "Replace Clip".
8. Replace the current clip contents with the second image asset created in
step 1.
9. Observe that the length of the clip on the Timeline will be reset to the
default length for image clips.

OBSERVED RESULT
Image clips that are in-use on the Timeline will have their length reset to the
user's current default length for image clips.

EXPECTED RESULT
Clips currently present on the Timeline should have their lengths unaltered,
particularly as the same image may have a variety of lengths applied in
separate uses on the Timeline.

-- Information about the crash:
I have a Python script that uses pydbus to add feed URLs to Akregator via
`org.kde.akregator /Akregator org.kde.akregator.part.addFeedsToGroup`. The

Thanks for the report, unfortunately I can't reproduce. Looking at the
backtrace, this seems to be a rare race condition in the QML engine, I fixed a
few things related to it recently and the next release will contains these
fixes, hopefully this also fix this issue. If not, feel free to reopen.

[kwin] [Bug 462996] Windows do not stay on the virtual desktop they are on

2022-12-23 Thread Riccardo Robecchi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462996

One thing I've noticed is that Firefox stays on the same virtual desktop it is
on if I click on a link on Thunderbird. I have also tried setting Vivaldi as
the default browser, and it works as expected (the window is kept on the
virtual desktop it is on).

Given this, is it possible that somehow it is actually Firefox at fault here,
rather than KWin?

[kwin] [Bug 463389] New: Full screen windows open a new desktop : can't disable, buggy behavior when closing.

2022-12-23 Thread Lapineige
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463389

Bug ID: 463389
Summary: Full screen windows open a new desktop : can't
disable, buggy behavior when closing.
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.26.4
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-window-management
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lp@lavache.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
1) When I open a window in fullscreen, it goes on a newly created virtual
desktop (with desktop change slide animation). I believe it's the "fullscreen"
desktop effect. This effect is disabled. Enabling it and disabling it again
changes nothing.
2) When I close the fullscreen windows, virtual desktop is removed (with no
visible animation).
But if I exit fullscreen first, no matter what I do next (even opening another
window in fullscreen), if I close that window it removes one virtual desktop.
And then I have to recreate it, reorganize the windows again and so on.
This can be chained : 3 fullscreen windows close will destroy 3 virtual
desktops.
This works with any window (tested with Firefox, VLC, Dolphin, Gwenview,
games…)

This issue has been here for at least 3 major (5.xx) versions, and Kubuntu
21.10.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a window in fullscreen (this create a new virtual desktop)
2. Exit full screen and close it // close it.

OBSERVED RESULT
Fullscreen windows opens in a new virtual desktop.
Current virtual desktop is removed.

EXPECTED RESULT
- No virtual desktop is created
- closing a non fullscreen window don't close the virtual desktop.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.4 (bug here since older versions)

Git commit 8d96b64dcdd6a7e1dcd7783a7866e0d208a48772 by Sharaf Zaman.
Committed on 23/12/2022 at 14:01.
Pushed by szaman into branch 'krita/5.1'.

Revert "Disable the touch docker on Android"

This reverts commit 56456f59f898536a470bcf19832788aa8bb0d6bb.

Not having touch docker caused this bug. I don't exactly know the reason
why this happened in the first place and given the difficulty associated
with bugs involving events pipeline, I think it is best to leave it in
the same state as it was before. But maybe fix the touch docker to
disable or delegate the buggy actions.

Neither I nor Emilio Bova could reproduce this part of the bug report in
KDevelop master, even in a several-months-old version. Either it has been fixed
at some point or we need more information to reproduce.

[digikam] [Bug 463297] face tags not loaded when mysql deleted and import again

2022-12-23 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463297

If you perform face detection again with the option to clean everything and
scan again, it is normal that you now have an unknown name for your face
region. The previous information will not and cannot be used for face
recognition (larger area of face rectangle.)

To exchange tags between different programs, in the digiKam extended metadata
data for tags, you need to put an entry in the first position that is supported
by the third-party program and contains a tags path.
XMP.dc.subject is not suitable for this, try XMP.lr.hierarchicalSubject.

But maybe fix the touch docker to
disable or delegate the buggy actions.

xsimd: Avoid using zip_* in xsimd >= 10

xsimd 10 introduces an undocumented, breaking change in the batch
zipping semantics. These are relied on in the RGBA interleavers,
when they replaced the old gather/scatter implementation.

To work around them, the old implementation was brought back,
surrounded with suitable guards, and the corresponding error pragma
was added to KoRgbaInterleavers.h.
