On the laptop bottom, i have a 'taskbar' with application launcher, icons only taskmanager, system-tray and on the bottom of the 4K monitor, there is also a panel with icons-only taskmanager (this is not the whole screen witdth, just 1/6th of the width (see 'vvv' below to indicate the current - horizontal position). This panel has autohide activated and is working ok. ``` | | +-+ ``` Now, i tried putting this small panel vertically, just so it's attached to the lower left corner of the 4K monitor (see '<--' in above picture where i want to put it) This also works ok, but the auto-hide feature does not - the panel is always visible I know, that's a strange setup, but still very handy, because this lower left area of the 4K monitor is like an 'infinite target area' (Fitt's law) that's very easy to reach with the mouse. [xdg-desktop-portal-kde] [Bug 466252] Settings.tabletMode doesn't work in Flatpak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466252 Harald Sitter changed: What|Removed |Added CC||sit...@kde.org --- Comment #3 from Harald Sitter --- Huh. This is a bit complicated. So tablet mode (or as we call it in the GUI: touch mode) is ultimately controlled by kwin and currently kirigami talks directly to kwin. The easy fix is to have relevant apps talk-name=org.kde.KWin but that is a bit questionable from a security POV what with kwin being the wayland compositor. The reasonable, albeit more invasive, fix is to restructure how things work. The settings portal should talk to Kwin and abstract the tabletmode setting. Kirigami should then talk to the portal rather than kwin. Flatpak apps equally talk to the portal. IOW: everything needs to talk to the portal and the portal talks to kwin. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Maybe every 20th time, sometimes even more frequently (very random), when opening popups of various applications, they visually flicker disturbingly, this happened for me in jetbrains rider, vscode and unity3d so far. In IDEs it's especially disturbing as auto completion opens and closes popups at a high rate, making this glitch occur quite a lot more frequently. While recording it i noticed that when it glitches it actually just shows the top left of my desktop. Enabled related desktop effects are "Fading Popups Kinetic" (installed) and background contrast and , but this also happens without any of them enabled, it's just visible for like a single frame instead of a few in that case. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open popups in one of the mentioned applications repeatedly 2. Notice it sometimes rendering the desktop into the window content for a short period 3. acknowledge it as an issue OBSERVED RESULT (At random times) flickering popups, rendering the desktop as content briefly before showing their actual content EXPECTED RESULT Smooth, non-glitchy popups, rendering their own content or a default color or what's actually behind their rectangle from the start SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.10 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I'm not sure if kwin or compositing is the correct category for this issue, as i don't have the technical knowledge about what makes up my desktop internally; it might be related to something completely different, it just seemed correct to me. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Also I want to add, that it was a pleasant surprise how easy it was to build konsole, clean simple CMake usage. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 463718] System performance severely degrades as I use PC until plasma restart
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463718 gudvinr+...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Attachment #156771|0 |1 is obsolete|| --- Comment #9 from gudvinr+...@gmail.com --- Created attachment 156823 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=156823=edit nvtop So, I again have issues with cursor stutter and overall noticeable performance issues. I opened nvtop and now I see that kwin consumes almost half of my VRAM (1.5 out of 4 GiB) and GPU load up to 40%. Load is caused by me playing youtube video though, once I stopped playback it goes back to normal (not performance issues though). Although it still doesn't seem right that despite of hardware decoding in firefox, kwin consumes 30 to 40% of GPU time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdelibs] [Bug 306352] 100% cpu usage when waking up from suspend or switching between x servers, might be caused by kglobalaccel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306352 --- Comment #22 from Robin Bankhead --- Further data point: I just added a systemmonitor plasmoid to my panel to show CPU usage, and interestingly after first opening my vnc session it actually did not show any heavy activity. It started maxing one core, however, as soon as I opened Yakuake (with a keyboard shortcut, natch). This sort of makes a lot more sense, even if it doesn't present a full diagnosis: I'm actually giving kglobalaccel itself some input that "upsets" it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
