[kmail2] [Bug 372189] Dysfunctional areas with 1.5 scaling

2017-02-04 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372189

--- Comment #15 from Vishnu <vishn...@gmail.com> ---
For me, at 1.5, font rendering is horrible in a lot of other places ass well;
For example the screen that comes when you click logout/shutdown. Also, at a
scaling of 2 (what is my current workaround - with reduced font size) okular
has the same problem of grainy font rendering. I'm having to read pdfs in my
browser.

As you can see in the attached image, there is no option to skip. The 'Ignore

requires is a separate 'Skip' button.

--- Comment #1 from Vishnu <vishn...@gmail.com> ---
Setting the scaling to '2' solves this problem and additional screan tearing as
well as bad res icon problems. But that is not a solution, as then, one has to
decrease font size, which again may not be read by all application.

But this means that this is probably a compositor issue, and not that of KMail.
So I will shift it there.

When in the 'Present Windows' view, it would be nice if clicking on the desktop
(instead of on one of the windows) could take me to the bare desktop. i.e.,
minimize all the windows. (like what the bottom-right corner aero thing in
MS-Windows does)

Currently, i think doing that restores the windows to the state that existed
before activating the 'Present Windows' view.

Or this could be added as an option.

I don't understand. How so? If one accidentally clicks outside one of the

if they made such a click, they would would very quickly learn of the existence

--- Comment #4 from Vishnu <vishn...@gmail.com> ---
If you say so... personally, I expected it to behave the way I described it.
Because clicking on the wallpaper/desktop should mean that I want to go to the
bare desktop. For me, it is because I have a lot of widgets on it, that would
like to look at: Temp., HDD I/O, CPU, Memory, Network, etc. And when I have
lots of windows open, I end-up having to minimize each, individually to get to
the desktop.

p.s. Sorry if I'm being a bother. And thanks for taking the time to discuss. :)

Same issue with a 117 DPI monitor. Firefox seems very out of place.

[kde-gtk-config] [Bug 333146] gtk font settings has no effect

I too am facing this issue on my 2K monitor. Everything else is fine because I
can increase font sizes, but firefox looks very out of place with its tiny,
unreadable fonts. Tweaking fonts inside firefox only helps with the content,
not with firefox tabs or menus.

[kde-gtk-config] [Bug 333146] Font Family is localized and hence not understood by GTK applications

2017-06-22 Thread Vishnu

--- Comment #6 from Vishnu <vishn...@gmail.com> ---
(In reply to Aleix Pol from comment #5)
>
> Vishnu, are you sure you're facing this same issue?

Hmmm.. Okay, upon giving it a second look, I realise that the problem I'm
facing is slightly different. I have my gtk-config font set to: Noto Sans 12.
The font sizes are fine, but everything else in firefox (Tabs, buttons, etc.)
are too small on my 117 DPI, 25" screen.

The rest of KDE was also small, but that was fixed when I increads the font as
well as ICON sizes. But there isn't a corresponding option in kde-gtk-config;
If I increas the gtk font size beyond 12, my tabs are only able to display a
couple of letters, and the firfox menus don't display properly.

So there has to be a way to make other GTK aspect increase in size too, like
the ICON size setting in Settings > Icons > Advanced

I am using Okular version 1.1.2

Currently, I cannot have different view modes in two separate, simultaneous
instances. For eg., I can't have a single page view in one, and a double in the
other.

It would be nice to have this.

I have a scenario now, where this will help:

Say I do not use a 'Panel', and have lost of 'Widgets' on the desktop. Now, if
I also have lots of windows open, the only way as of now, to get to the
desktop, is to minimized all of my open windows.

But if this were implemented, it would be mcuh easier to do that.

I tried using a non-ASCII, UTF-8 character, but to no avail. The same issue

If there are multiple instances of a new, unrecognized word in a message,
Spellcheck flags them all for revision, and goes through them all even if the
first instance of the word was 'Added to Dictionary'.

The next time I compose a message, the added word is no longer flagged, so
adding to dictionary dies work, but not in the same message.

I think this is a necessary feature, especially when people who do not know the
language on the physical keyboard need to use the machine.

Now that 'kvkbd'(qt4) is old and KDE has no native on-screen keyboard
application, it would be nice if there were one as part of the Accessibility
feature set, using the 'qt5-virtualkeyboard' framework.

--- Comment #2 from Vishnu <vishn...@gmail.com> ---
Mine crashes every-time I don't manually 'Quit' the application. If I just
shut-down my machine, the next time I start-up, Akregator tells me it has
crashed, and asks me if I want to 'Restore-session'. Choosing to do so deletes
all my feed. This is a major issue.

I'm using version 5.6.2

[kmail2] [Bug 397483] New: Sendmail-type Sending account command does not take options

2018-08-15 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397483

Bug ID: 397483
Summary: Sendmail-type Sending account command does not take
options
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.8.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vishn...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have a couple of mail accounts, with sending configured using 'msmtp'. I am
able to send emails on all of those accounts, via command-line, choosing each
account as follows:

$ echo "" | msmtp --account= recipi...@email.tld

But when I configure KMail to use this under Settings > Accounts > Sending, as
a 'Sendmail'-like account (click on 'Add' in the same settings dialog), I get
the error notification:

E-Mail Sending Failed
Failed to transport message. Failed to execute mailer program /usr/bin/
msmtp --account=

Then again, it does work in one particular case. I have three accounts, and
the msmtp configuration allows you to choose one of your accounts as the
default. For the default account, the sendmail setting (in Kmail) is just '/
usr/bin/msmtp' (without the --account=). And in that case it is
able to send it.

Also, my mail, and its thread in the mailing-list, regarding the same issue:

[plasmashell] [Bug 403112] Crash on Alt+Tab window switching

2019-01-12 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403112

The 'Task Switcher' I had selected was 'Breeze'. I changed that and it solved
the problem. I can now switch even when there is a fullscreen application.

[plasmashell] [Bug 403179] New: Compositor (System Settings Module) window is open upon login

2019-01-13 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403179

Bug ID: 403179
Summary: Compositor (System Settings Module) window is open
upon login
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic-wayland
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vishn...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I just began using the wayland session, and when I do login (auto-login), one
of the windows open (along with my usual auto-starts) is one that reads:
"Compositor (System Settings Module)".

This happens on every login.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Artixlinux - kernel 4.20
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0

Additional Information:

I have a monitor connected to my laptop, and the laptop's display is disabled.

2019-02-28 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404705

What do those numbers mean? That should be the monitor. It is 25" and 1440p.

The laptop screen probably doesn't show up because I have it disabled in the
Settings, when I use this monitor. It is 14" and 1080p.

really handle 1440p very well)

[plasmashell] [Bug 390092] plasmashell crashes on boot

2020-04-07 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=390092

When using the wayland session, plasma crashes every time I boot. I have a
laptop connected to an external monitor via an HDMI cable. I use only the
external monitor, and have the laptop's display disabled.

My crash log is probably useless because I have no debug symbols, but Thread 1
starts with:
#6  0x7f07ed45eb62 in QScreen::name() const () from /usr/lib/libQt5Gui.so.5

I'm currently on Qt 5.14.2 and Plasma 5.18.4.1

2020-04-05 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419685

Okay, I should have added more information. This does not happen when I just
open Help Centre. It happenes (reproducibly) when I go to Settings > Display &
Monitor > Compositor, and then click on the 'Help' button at the bottom. It
gives me a Help Centre window that says "Document not found". Then when I
rapidly click the button to increase font size, it crashes.

Also, I'm on the Wayland session.

[Akonadi] [Bug 421664] New: Sending email does not work with XOAUTH2

2020-05-17 Thread Vishnu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421664

Bug ID: 421664
Summary: Sending email does not work with XOAUTH2
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Google Resource
  Assignee: dvra...@kde.org
  Reporter: vishn...@gmail.com
CC: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I have an account added using the recently enabled Google sign-in:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404990

But I am unable to send emails, unless I restart akonadi. It seems to be
requesting a new XOAUTH2 token in the process, and I am able to send for a
while after that.

There are no issues on the IMAP side of things. I am able to read all mails.

Sending also works, following advice by Aldo.

But not very well. I am having to restart akonadi every now-and-then, because
other wise, the email never leaves the local outbox.

It looks like the restart requests a new [SASL-XOAUTH2] token. Am I doing
something wrong? Is this a separate bug report?

[telepathy] [Bug 371661] New: Incomplete Google Hangouts support in telepathy ?

2016-10-25 Thread Vishnu via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371661

Bug ID: 371661
Summary: Incomplete Google Hangouts support in telepathy ?
   Product: telepathy
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kde-telepathy-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vishn...@gmail.com

There are two separate issues:

1) I can not see messages that were sent to me when I was offline. Also, there
is no way of looking at chat history if the chats didn't happen from here.

2) Is group chatting, which is possible in Hangouts, not supported? Pidgin has
this through a plugin that uses Google's proprietary hangouts protocol.

I added my google account through KDE Online Accounts.

Reproducible: Always
