Yes, I botched the communication on this, my apologies about that.

Voting has now been disabled on Bugzilla. We are investigating ways to
make the CC count affect the bug janitor's automatic priority
categorization in its stead.

No problem with me, but would have been nice with some sort of
announcement (sorry if I missed it!)

I'm with Elvis.

Why were votes removed? Or was this a mistake?

The discussion here was IMO not conclusive.

And even if it was, it needs to be announced before it happens.

Otherwise we have 0 knowledge of what's going on and have no way to answer our
users when they start complaining of why the votes are gone.

If we were to remove them, users would have no way to show that they care about
a bug aside from adding annoying "Please fix this, it is important to
me"-comments. So in that sense it serves a similar purpose as the duplicates
count. Duplicates count is very imprecise though because there will be more
duplicates for bugs that are difficult to search for. Votes aren't a great
metric either but it is sometimes interesting tp me to see when many people
felt compelled to vote on a bug.

So I do look at them as an additional metric to see how many people are
negatively impacted by a bug. I don't feel that strongly about them overall
though.

I never take them into account. I'm an adult, I can set my own priorities.

I do vote on Bugzilla, but given the limited development resource, I
find vote less useful than the number of duplicates or CCs.
