This may break 3rd-party software and ports which relay on this includes,
but I don't consider this as a drawback: passing additional flags when
 you
need them is much easier, than removing flags when they bring problems.

The idea of setting LIBRARY_PATH and CPATH in CONFIGURE_ENV and MAKE_ENV
is to make the change transparent to 3rd-party software: the only change
is that while we explicitly passed -I/usr/local/include and
-L/usr/local/lib before via mkspecs/freebsd-*/qmake.conf, they are now
passed implicitly via those environment variables.

I may have to move those definitions from bsd.qt.mk to Uses/qmake.mk
though, as the previous setup only affected ports which used qmake and
the new approach should be limited to qmake as well.

The same situation with the linguist and lupdate/lrelease: if you need to
build l10n for simple Qt 4 port you have to install tons of stuff.

I agree with Max on this: keeping UiTools on its own is worth some extra
patching, unless it becomes unmaintainable. The whole Qt 5 build system
needed heavy patching anyway, so it shouldn't be a big issue.

Hope I'll be able to join you on this effort some day!

Yes, you can replace USE_GSTREAMER=yes there with USE_GSTREAMER=cdparanoia
 core.

Then you should do it for any other plugin, that's why
phonon-gstreamer has an optional dependency on gstreamer-plugins-all,
and mentions it in pkg-message (by the way, I see the logic for
showing it has now changed - I think it should depend on the option
being off). The problem is that people don't read that (and pkg(8)

This directory belongs to misc/kde4-shared-mime-info. All these hier ports are
useless with staging. kde4-shared-mime has to be deprecated, considering that
we have USES=shared-mime-info now. As for kdehier4 port, we can move KDE 4
ports to LOCALBASE and use kdehier4 only to cleanup common directories.

A bold approach to the issue would be officially proposing support for
multiple mtree files, but is it worth considering that, iirc, pkgng
should kill packaging of directories? Maybe we should just kill *hier
ports and rely on `make makeplist` to generate complete plists, with
all the *hier directories listed too, until @dirrm* goes away.

About KDE 4 move to LOCALBASE, it could be the right time. I hope KDE
Frameworks 5 did something similar to what Qt 5 did, but I'm afraid
we'll have to create a kde5/. :(

`kdemerge -o ...` also syncs bsd.kde4.mk, which currently has

Good choice. I will remove the setting from bsd.qt.mk, and will make

was already going to do this anyway).

Just noticed the difference between CONFIG and QT_CONFIG, so the
setting in bsd.qt.mk has to stay. By the way, why didn't you add
separate_debug_info when WITH_DEBUG is defined?

Not necessarily a good idea. Build time and size for webkit-qt5 WITH_DEBUG
is incredibly bigger. Probably the same for other big ports.

This will break pkg-plist for almost all USES=qmake ports.
Separate debug is nice feature, I'd like having it enabled by default. In
principle we could enable it for stage ready ports.

From: Alberto Villa avi...@freebsd.org
To: bug-follo...@freebsd.org, me...@bris.ac.uk

Subject: Re: ports/180999: sysutils/qzeitgeist makes shared libs in SYSV

One difference is in INSTALL_TARGET;. When you install by hand you run
`make install`, while the ports system uses `make install/strip` for
CMake projects. Try running `make install/strip` in WRKSRC and see if
 you get the SYSV library.

I'm not sure, but I think that the KDE battery monitor

but I only have one battery installed.

I see that Alberto Villa submitted this patch to KDE:

 https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/110941/

I think this patch is related to my problem and may solve it. Has this
 patch
been pushed upstream to KDE, or do we have it in the FreeBSD port?

The patch should not be related as it was supposed to solve the exact
opposite problem, i.e., battery being considered always plugged in.

A lot of changes were committed to the battery monitor in 4.11,
especially to improve multiple batteries support, so it's worth
waiting for the update to hit the ports and see if it's enough to fix
the issue.

I have merged the umbrello patches and can build it with clang/libc++ now.
Step however still fails even with the patch added. I have attached the
build outputs of step and also telepathy-qt4.

The telepathy-qt4 one is already on my schedule, and I've got some
more debug output by Atjim. Unless someone fixes it in the next hours,
I should be able to take care of it.
