[Bug 172388] New: Attachments saved as filenames enclosed in quotes

2008-10-08 Thread Rodney Baker
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172388

   Summary: Attachments saved as filenames enclosed in quotes
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Version:(using KDE 4.1.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

When saving attachments from emails sent from Outlook, KMail includes the
quotes from the attachment description in the filename. Outlook adds the
attachment as per the attached screenshot, with the attachment filename in
quotes, then the description as the filename with no quotes. Here is an example
of the relevant headers from the Outlook email:

Content-Type: application/msword;

name=#2782339-v1-Southern_Expressway_RS485_Wiring_Audit_-_July_2008.DOC
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Description:
#2782339-v1-Southern_Expressway_RS485_Wiring_Audit_-_July_2008.DOC
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=
#2782339-v1-Southern_Expressway_RS485_Wiring_Audit_-_July_2008.DOC

When saving the attachment from KMail, it encloses the destination filename in
quotes by default. This breaks kde's filetype associations due to the fact that
the filename extension now includes a double quote e.g. KMail saves test.doc as
test.doc - KDE then sees the document extension as .doc and does not
recognise the file type.

This may well be due to Outlook's handling of attachment filenames (I haven't
read the relevant RFC to see if it is compliant).

The workaround is to delete the quotes from KMail's Save As... dialog before
saving the file, however it would be better if KMail stripped the quotes from
the beginning and end of the filename automatically. Could this be added
please, at least as a configurable option? We already have Outlook
compatibility options for sending emails and invitations, so it shouldn't be
too hard to add an option for receiving attachments also.

[Bug 172387] New: mail context menu: open link with firefox, konqueror, opera, other installed browser

2008-10-08 Thread Janet
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172387

   Summary: mail context menu: open link with firefox, konqueror,
opera, other installed browser
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.9.9
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Version:   1.9.9 (using 3.5.9, Debian Package 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6
(lenny/sid))
Compiler:  Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.26-5.slh.9-sidux-686

Alas there are a lot of webpages that don't work with konqueror, especially
sites making use of javascript. For this case it would be very helpful if when
reading an email notification I could choose with which browser I want to open
the link in that email (e.g. meineleute.de, last.fm, emusic.com I need to open
with firefox). As it is now I always have to copy the link address, open
firefox and paste the address... So this is a request for a context menu for
links in mails in kmail where all installed browsers are listed to
alternatively open the URL with one of them instead of with the standard
browser.

Old wish, indeed. Maybe someone should either deny or act on it. This comment
and thus mail might help in that regard. :)

As to defaulting to fixed width for all: Strong oppose!

I use Pine alongside with KMail have Terminus installed on all my systems
with a tty/X server, so I _am_ a huge fan of fixed fonts. That being said, as
OP points out, KMail should cater to the masses.
My mom will definitely complain if her email is not pretty any more. She even
me colored text, even though I told her I don't even read the HTML part, only
the plain-text one.
And that is the type of person who KDE needs to cater to. The power users can
simply switch over to fixed width if they want to. Normal users can't do the
reverse (or won't even bother to try as the application looks weird).

Reprocude:

* Select Email
* Press X
* Click 'View', see that the setting _has_ changed
* Look at Email, see that the actual font did not change

Then

* Set KMail to use custom font
* Select Email
* (re)Enable fixed width font
* Look at Email, it is displayed correctly

Then

* Switch back to system-wide fonts, same bug

Changing the system-wide font does not help, either.

After a suspend/resume on laptop, imap connections aren't opened again. Then,
after sending an email, kmail crashes when trying to move the mail to sent
folder using the imap connection.

Trying to close and reopen kmail to have the connection back doesn't work,
because the process isn't terminated after all the windows are closed. Kill
must be used.

OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.9-0.2-pae

Hello,
for a long while recently I get lots of annoying spam mails that all match the
same criteria, but I cannot find that special feature in the KMAIL spam
asssistant.

All of the SPAM Mail have identical To: and From: address.
example:

Von: Lorena [EMAIL PROTECTED] An: Lorena [EMAIL PROTECTED]

(German transalation:
  Von: = From: and
  An:  = To: )
This could be easyly trapped by a spam assistant.
I would prefer the moving of these spams to a special directotry where I can
check before final deletion of the SPAM mails.

Yours,
WillyFoobar
