[Bug 172388] New: Attachments saved as filenames enclosed in quotes
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172388 Summary: Attachments saved as filenames enclosed in quotes Product: kmail Version: unspecified Platform: SuSE RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Version:(using KDE 4.1.2) OS:Linux Installed from:SuSE RPMs When saving attachments from emails sent from Outlook, KMail includes the quotes from the attachment description in the filename. Outlook adds the attachment as per the attached screenshot, with the attachment filename in quotes, then the description as the filename with no quotes. Here is an example of the relevant headers from the Outlook email: Content-Type: application/msword; name=#2782339-v1-Southern_Expressway_RS485_Wiring_Audit_-_July_2008.DOC Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Description: #2782339-v1-Southern_Expressway_RS485_Wiring_Audit_-_July_2008.DOC Content-Disposition: attachment; filename= #2782339-v1-Southern_Expressway_RS485_Wiring_Audit_-_July_2008.DOC When saving the attachment from KMail, it encloses the destination filename in quotes by default. This breaks kde's filetype associations due to the fact that the filename extension now includes a double quote e.g. KMail saves test.doc as test.doc - KDE then sees the document extension as .doc and does not recognise the file type. This may well be due to Outlook's handling of attachment filenames (I haven't read the relevant RFC to see if it is compliant). The workaround is to delete the quotes from KMail's Save As... dialog before saving the file, however it would be better if KMail stripped the quotes from the beginning and end of the filename automatically. Could this be added please, at least as a configurable option? We already have Outlook compatibility options for sending emails and invitations, so it shouldn't be too hard to add an option for receiving attachments also. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 172387] New: mail context menu: open link with firefox, konqueror, opera, other installed browser
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172387 Summary: mail context menu: open link with firefox, konqueror, opera, other installed browser Product: kmail Version: 1.9.9 Platform: unspecified OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Version: 1.9.9 (using 3.5.9, Debian Package 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6 (lenny/sid)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.26-5.slh.9-sidux-686 Alas there are a lot of webpages that don't work with konqueror, especially sites making use of javascript. For this case it would be very helpful if when reading an email notification I could choose with which browser I want to open the link in that email (e.g. meineleute.de, last.fm, emusic.com I need to open with firefox). As it is now I always have to copy the link address, open firefox and paste the address... So this is a request for a context menu for links in mails in kmail where all installed browsers are listed to alternatively open the URL with one of them instead of with the standard browser. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 95784] Please activate Use fixed font by default

Maybe someone should either deny or act on it. This comment and thus mail might help in that regard. :) As to defaulting to fixed width for all: Strong oppose! I use Pine alongside with KMail have Terminus installed on all my systems with a tty/X server, so I _am_ a huge fan of fixed fonts. That being said, as OP points out, KMail should cater to the masses. My mom will definitely complain if her email is not pretty any more. She even me colored text, even though I told her I don't even read the HTML part, only the plain-text one. And that is the type of person who KDE needs to cater to. The power users can simply switch over to fixed width if they want to. Normal users can't do the reverse (or won't even bother to try as the application looks weird). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
