I do not see how to achieve the desired effect with the buttons. Only the third
from the right is relevant to sorting. But the available options are only
(translated from german by me):

- unsorted
- date/time
- date/time of newest mail in a group
- sender
- recipient
- sender/recipient (intelligent)
- subject
- size
- status

I do not see how to get "date of arrival"

[Bug 187345] knode generates long References: headers

I can confirm this bug in Knews (both, in KDE3 and KDE4 versions). This is
a clear violation of RFC2822, which says:

http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2822.txt
# [...]
# 3.5 Overall message syntax
#
# A message consists of header fields, optionally followed by a message
# body. Lines in a message MUST be a maximum of 998 characters
# excluding the CRLF, [...]

This should be easy to fix, as all it takes is to remove the last 1-2
references to stay below the maximum line length.
A simple testcase is Msg-ID: ;
trying to respond to this message will trigger a "441 437" error by
the posting host (presumed to be RFC-compliant).

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

After deleting multiple messages from a dimap account, it will often grab the
same messages from the server on the next sync. It doesn't seem to matter if I
delete one at a time or select multiple and hit delete.

After they re-download, if I delete them again and re-sync, they are deleted as
expected.

Sorry I did not answer sooner. I have not had a problem with kmail since
installing, KDE 4.2.1, so I forgot about this bug. I was aware of problems with
knode and QT that also have disappeared with 4.2.1.

knode still has problem with authentication of news group. bug #188271.

Again sorry about the long delay getting back to you.

As it can be necessary to put „dem“ in between (e.g. am Sonnabend, dem 4. April
2009) there remains something to do.
(Btw - I don't like leading zeros like 04. and I prefer Sonnabend against
Samstag.)

Version: 1.11.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-11-generic

I can not change the width of the columns which can be displayed in the tree
showing all folders I can access. After adding the columns for "total" or
"unread" amount of messages or the one for the size, all 2/3/4 visible columns
get the same size, making the folder name so short that I can not read it
anymore (or I'd have to make the view fill the whole screen). That basically
makes the additional columns unusable.
So, please enable the feature to change the width of these columns.

Version: 1.11.2 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Mandriva RPMs

If you double-click on a message in kmail, a windows pops-up which is quite
handy to read your mail fullscreen, but then, you're not able to go to the next
message nor the previous. This funtion is missing both from the menu and the
toolbar.

This feature was present in KDE3 and I've read a mail from Ingo saying there
were some bugs with this functionality that would be fixed thanks to KDE4 (
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-pim&m=112492562620253&w=2 )... But this feature has
simply been removed :-(

This makes the separate reader view almost useless and thus, kmail requires a
large screen in order to be usable.

I have "pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt" set in ~/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf.
Somehow the package providing pinentry-qt got deleted. KMail then complained
that gpg-agent was not running whenever I had to enter the passphrase for my
secret key. gpg-agent was running, the problem was resolved by installing
pinentry-qt, nothing else was changed.
The error message is misleading. It should probably read that the required
binary was not found.

I can not use the decryption and signing functionality of kmail without having
gpg-agent installed. The very first time after installing KDE4 that I touched
an encrypted message (imported from an old installation), it asked me for a
password (I don't know if it got correctly decrypted then as this "touching"
was marking all messages of a folder as "Ham"). Since then, whenever I want to
view an encrypted message or sign a message I send, it tells me the passphrase
is wrong without even asking me. The configuration window of the OpenPGP crypto
module is empty so I can't change anything there. KGpg can decrypt and sign
messages without problems (it just asks me for the password each time, of
course). After installing and setting up gpg-agent it now works in KMail, too,
but I would really prefer to use it without having to manually set up anything,
especially since that seems to be supported in theory.
