With current version, the message is more sensible : Could not connect to host
news.example.org. Thus I'm closing this report.

[Bug 203814] New: Auto-compression for IMAP folders unsing shared folders, menu item like comress folder now is gone

2009-08-14 Thread Oliver K
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203814

Summary: Auto-compression for IMAP folders unsing shared
folders, menu item like comress folder now is gone
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: k...@ollismail.de

Version:(using KDE 4.3.0)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

In earlier versions it was possible to manually compress IMPA folders (that
means deleting mails that have been marked for deletion, which are not shown in
kmail).

In kmail 1.12.0 those menu entries are not available anymore. Kmail
auto-compresses a folder when you open another folder.

Unfortunately kmail shows new mails in a folder (in this case a shared folder)
which are already marked for deletion by other users (with different mail
programs). When I open this folder there are no new mails. This behaviour is
rather annoying! Though auto-compression doensn't seem to work correctly here,
because those new/deleted messages are indicated as new messages in this
folder still after I changed to another folder.

A good solution would be to ignore mails that are already marked for deletion
when counting new mails for a folder. Another solution would be to bring back
the compress folder now or the compress all folders now menu entry.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 203823] New: Kontact crashed while trying to send out two GPG signed mails

2009-08-14 Thread Martin Steigerwald
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203823

Summary: Kontact crashed while trying to send out two GPG
signed mails
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: mar...@lichtvoll.de

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.0
KDE Version: 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-rc5-tp42-toi-3.0.1-05139-gb4d43f4 i686
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.1 (lenny)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I wrote two mails in different composer windows. None of them had any
attachment, beside that GPG signing stuff. On sending the first mail I was
asked for the GPG passphrase, I entered it and the window faded a bit. Then
nothing happened. I lost patience - well I am struggling with quite some bugs
in KDE 4.3 and have a tight schedule for today - and used Ctrl-Alt-Esc to quit
Kontact after I press send on the other mail - unsigned. On quitting I quickly
saw a dialog window - maybe it was a KWallet password dialog did not open in
the front and that the systemtray did not notify me about. Well I hoped that
KMail will get me the mails back and it did ;-).

Then I pressed send on the first mail, signed. Then Kontact crashed.

I hope I can send out the second mail after restarting Kontact after sending
the crash report.

I have no instructions on how to reproduce this in the moment.

I am using Debian testing / unstable packages:

Reading from the backtrace this should probably assigned to KMail. I had it
running in Kontact.

Kmail does not currently allow a user to change the message list font size.

After selecting a font face and/or font size for *any* of the message list
options, the chosen font and size is remembered by Kmail but it is *not*
applied to the message list.

It is currently not possible to change the font size for either the normal
message list or the fancy message list.

- Configure Akonadi with an IMAP and Kolab resource.
- Create a new contact called 'TEST A' in KAddressBook with an email address.
- Go to Kmail and after a sync, a new email should appear in your 'Contacts'
folder containing the information from the new contact.
- Modify the email address of 'TEST A' in KAddressBook.
- A new email appears after a sync, in the 'Contacts' folder of Kmail.

But the previous email (from 'TEST A' creation) is still there as well whereas
it should not be.
(On the long run the folder will be swamped with emails.)

I'm missing the feature to add my vcard automatically to E-Mails I've sent.

This is a feature, which every mail client i know (Thunderbid, Outlook*, iMail)
has.

Maybe it should be possible, to select one address record from kaddressbook
which will be attached to every mail.

In further development this could be improved e.g. for different sending-ways.

Hej Sabine,

this sounds like a bug in the Kolab Akonadi resource. KAddressBook just stores
the contact in Akonadi and the Kolab resource is responsible for the
synchronization between Akonadi and the IMAP server. So I reassign the bug to
the Akonadi product.

[Bug 203844] New: Uncorrect format completion when entering members into a group.

2009-08-14 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203844

Summary: Uncorrect format completion when entering members into
a group.
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sab...@kdab.net
CC: to...@kde.org

Version:(using Devel)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.2
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled sources

- Configure Akonadi with an IMAP and Kolab resource.
- click on the 'New Group' button
- In the 'New Contact Group' dialogue enter 'Group A' in the 'Name:' line edit.
- In the 'Contact group members' line edit the tooltip gives a 'Enter member in
format: name mail' message.
- However as soon as you start typing the first letters of the name an
autocompletion appears giving the full name of the contact (ex: John Smith).
- If you select it and click on the 'ok' button then the group and contact(s)
added appear on the right hand side of the KaddressBook main window.

But, instead of displaying name mail for each contact a number is displayed
(ex: 198, 199 ,200) which is confusing.

So I think the autocompletion should give the 'name mail' format instead of
just the 'name' format to avoid this bug.

additional information:
In the 'Edit Contact Group' dialogue, if you enter 'John Smith' and click on
'ok' as above, a number is displayed under the Group name on the right hand
side of the KAdressBook window.
But if you go back to the same dialogue, you can see that the correct format is
now displayed : 'John Smith jsm...@bugsquad.org' eventhough it was never
entered as such.

[Bug 203868] New: Inconsistency between header info in message list and message view

2009-08-14 Thread Thomas Fischer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203868

Summary: Inconsistency between header info in message list and
message view
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.4
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: fisc...@unix-ag.uni-kl.de

Version: 1.11.4 (using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc (Gentoo 4.3.2-r3 p1.6, pie-10.1.5) 4.3.2 CFLAGS=-O2
-march=prescott -pipe
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

When accessing an IMAP account (not DIMAP), for some mails the message list
view does not show all header information properly (e.g. subject), whereas the
message view for the same email displays all information correctly.
In my example, for some emails the subject is shown as (No Subject) and the
date is set to Unknown. Clicking on the mail (thus showing it in the message
view) updates the date to the correct value, whereas the subject stays (No
Subject).

It is not obvious why some mails are affected and others not.
Corruption of the IMAP database can be excluded as when accessing the IMAP
account via webmail no problems occur.

Screenshot visualizing behavior will be attached to bugreport.

Well my first idea proved to be the cure, but the root cause would of course be
valuable to you so I will try to get more out of the way my old configs messed
this up, but I don't know when I have enough time.

Solution was that I had old configs from earlier KDE-4.* versions and after
wiping all old KDE configs the shortcut setting seams to work OK even through
multiple quit relaunch cycles.

[Bug 53185] [PATCH] Crash when switching message while GPG passphrase entry dialog is shown

2009-08-14 Thread Alexis Papadopoulos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53185

--- Comment #33 from Alexis Papadopoulos iacp free fr 2009-08-14 23:41:10 ---
Hi there,

I've tried it and I still get a crash on KDE 4.2.4 (debian packages), KMail
1.11.4.

@Dominik: If I'm not mistaken, whether the password dialog shows up
automatically or nor is configurable (Settings Configure KMail Security
Attempt decryption of encrypted messages when viewing). [For some strange
reason this setting is discarded for some mails and every time I click on them
I get the dialog; might have something to do with how encryption was performed:
inline, MIME, etc.]

Anyway, when the pinentry dialog pops up, I just come back to KMail and click
on another mail or folder (anything that changes the currently displayed
messages will probably do). Although nothing happens immediately (it's a modal
window as you suggested), the click is registered and performed right after the
pinentry dialog closes. If I press CANCEL on the pinentry dialog, KMail changes
the active message and crashes right after.

I don't have broadband internet access to get the 4.3 packages from sid
(although I doubt this was fixed in the meanwhile, given that this bug report
was closed way back) and cannot check the source code, etc.

In the meantime, can someone else test this and if confirmed, please reopen the
bug?

--- Comment #37 from Florian E.J. Fruth spammail01 gmx net 2009-08-15

The problem still exists for kde-4.3.0-1 (Debian/SID/using pinentry-qt) - but
in a different matter than it was in early stages. In early stages kmail
crashed when selecting another folder while the pinentry dialog was still open.
At the moment I can create a SIGSEGV in the following way:

1. select an encrypted email and wait till the pinentry dialog pops up
2. now the keyboard doesn't work anymore (read: I can enter my pin but I'm
unable to use other keys like Alt+Tab, ...)
3. in this state use the mouse to click through the kmail folders (You don't
see anything happen because kmail blocks while the pinentry dialog is still
open!)
4. close the pinentry dialog (by entering your passphrase or clicking cancel)
5. now you can watch kmail processing the queued mouse-clicks (the ones from
step 3). After some (or all?) of them are through I get the SIGSEGV again...

- Konsole output:
QGpgMEProgressTokenMapper::map( -30 63 )
QGpgMEProgressTokenMapper::map( -30 63 )
QPainter::begin: Widget painting can only begin as a result of a paintEvent
QPainter::translate: Painter not active

- Configure Akonadi with an IMAP and Kolab resource.
- Enter a couple of Contacts in KAddressBook.
- Go to Kmail and create a new message.
- Enter a few letters from one of the Contacts you created above in the 'To'
line edit.

There should be an autocompletion but at the moment nothing happens even if you
type the Contact name entirely (ex: John Smith)

[Bug 203906] New: Allow filter action Mark as to use custom tags

Summary: Allow filter action Mark as to use custom tags
   Product: kmail

  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR

Version:(using KDE 4.3.0)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

Hi,

now I created my own little set of tags in Kmail, and would like to
automatically have incoming messages tagged.
What you can do with filters is, you can select the filter action Mark as and
that will give you a list of predefined tags such as Ham, Important, this
kind of stuff. I'd love to see my own custom tags in the list there.

Cheers,
Nico

Hi,

I have that list of tags defined in my Gmail account, and the tags would
reappear to me in Kmail as folders.
Well, now that there are *tags* in KMail, I'd find it a lot more useful to
actually display those in tags as well. That's require of course that the tags
from GMail are available in KMail as well.

Cheers,
Nico
