[Bug 247105] Can't use groups in kmail

Mandriva 2010 Spring is using KMail 1.13.3 KDE 4.4.3) and I have had the same
problem. Create Group is greyed out and the content of the distribution list
appears to be either encrypted in some way or just replaced with gibberish. The
group is then treated as a single contact and because the contents can't be
identified as valid e-mail addresses, KMail tries to send the mail to the group
name @localhost (in my case).

a kmail issue directly but had something to do with the addressbook backend?

In version 4:4.5~20101001.1181693-1maemo4.1181469 , above described procedure
does not result in an error message. But also it does not result in an folder
 creation in Local Folders, either

I got unknown collection errors after a while (couple of minutes). The folder
was then created.

[Bug 253374] New: Folder Selection as favorite does not always show all mails in that folders

2010-10-06 Thread Felix Wolfsteller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253374

Summary: Folder Selection as favorite does not always show all
mails in that folders
   Product: KMail Mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Maemo 5
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Keywords: komo3
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: felix.wolfstel...@intevation.de

In version 4:4.5~20101001.1181693-1maemo4.1181469 having multiple folders
combined to a favorite leads to wrong numbers of mails displayed.

0) start kmail-mobile
1) Create a couple of folders and populate them with mail
2) From the home screen, touch Select and select some folders with mails
3) Touch OK
 - The collapsed tree view will show You have selected X folders from Y
accounts Z emails.
4) Open Actions Flap/View/Add As Favorite and give the favorite a name.
5) Touch home
6) Select the favorite.

Now, multiple issues occur (not all always reproducible):

- Collapsed tree view shows wrong number of mails
- Home does not allow to reaccess the tree view
- Select Button does not allow to change selection
- Collapsed tree view shows accounts under a folder

If these do not stem from the same underlying issue, ask me to open separate
issues. I will then try hard to reproduce.

Email threading has the same problem. So I close this bug because it is
possible now to create subtasks, even though it doesn't look like that in the
treeview currently. I checked by creating a subtask and opening korganizer
(desktop version) with the same Akonadi data and the task indeed shows up as a
subtask there.

Eventually a new bug for a tree view (or other kind of indication for subtasks)
in the application could be opened.

I still can't reproduce this.

Does it happen for any contacts in any folders for you?

What if you start removing resources? Can you still reproduce?

Can you reproduce with only a PersonalContacts resource?

Can you back that up and start removing things from it so that you are left
with the smallest addressbook that still causes the bug?

Thanks,

Steve.

Maybe, but XDG_DATA_DIRS is very easy to test, if you had used just a few
minutes to do it and a little more openness in your mind you could have checked
it out of instead just dumping a suggestion with no real reason. I used to have
a problem with exactly same symptoms, correctly setting XDG_DATA_DIRS solved it
for me. I could have just forgotten about this bug, since I do not have it
anymore, it is not my problem anymore, but instead I tried to help, because
that is the attitude we should have when someone needs help and we have
something that may help, and you just dumped my suggestion without even trying
to check it out. With attitude like yours why anybody here would step up to
help? Just do be dumped too?

 which is:

Actually Akonadi::Control::start() may even work well (return proper status),
but... akonadi self-test dialog box is displayed *nevertheless*, and when it's
clicked it terminates application so end effect is identical as
Akonadi::Control::start() returned false despite the fact Akonadi started
 successfully..

Ok, so let's try your comment. I really do not understand how that could
happen. Me and several other people do not have this problem (I used to, but
not anymore as I said), if things happen the way you said everybody should have
this problem. How did you find that out? I looked at akonadi, akonadi-server
and kmail's source code yesterday but I do not see how what you described could
happen for some people and not for everybody. Maybe it is a suttle corruption
in akonadi's database, that would explain why not everybody have this problem.
You can try deleting the database and restarting everything again.

Might be that the first folder is not displayed (e.g. in a setting with many
folders the folder called Account - vs Bcount , Ccount...).

[Bug 253397] New: Account multiplication if kolab account is added as first account

2010-10-06 Thread Felix Wolfsteller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253397

Summary: Account multiplication if kolab account is added as
first account
   Product: KDE PIM Mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Maemo 5
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Keywords: komo3
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: felix.wolfstel...@intevation.de

To reproduce:

0) start e.g. korganizer-mobile and kaddressbook-mobile
1) in both, delete all configured accounts
2) in one of them, add an kolab account
3) the account will show up twice in both applications, a third might appear
after some minutes.

Instead, it was expected that account shows up a single time in both
applications only.

Observed in 4:4.5~20101006.1183155-1maemo1.1182955 .

I get a file dialog that is filtered by default on ICS/VCS. Do you have this as
well?

If not, that would be a bug, note though that I test this on a desktop computer
(running korganizer-mobile of course).

I'm not sure how much sense it would make to disallow other files than those
ending with .ics or .vcs. These might still be valid (either because they're
new file or because they contain actually valid data).

[Bug 230247] Akonadi::Control::start() does not work

2010-10-06 Thread Maciej Mrozowski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230247

--- Comment #23 from Maciej Mrozowski reavertm gmail com 2010-10-07 00:44:31
---
Take a look at akonadi log I posted here some time ago (and what other people
said as well before) - Akonadi *doesn't* crash or report *any* issue - yet
self-test dialog appears - I suppose it rules out database corruptions and XDG_
issues right from the start, do you agree?

The source you're interested in is in kdepimlibs as it's where Akonadi server
control library is implemented (akonadi server itself just provides DBus API).
Please digg there.

As for why it does not happen for everyone - if I knew that it would be
probably fixed already. Possible answers: race conditions or improperly or too
optimistic timeouts set - so depending on machine performance. Akonadi::Control
class uses timers and other workarounds to simulate synchroneous (blocking)
startup/shutdown (which is otherwise natively event based).

This bug has been voted by a few people and it has a few duplicates so it's
quite safe to assume issue is present.
