Hello,
I have encountered a similar problem with KMail 1.13.5 (kubuntu-ppa kde 4.5.3):
I use disconnected imap on home and work pcs. They are never on at the same
time. Yesterday I asked my boss to send me an important mail again, because I
could not find it, and I received it on my work pc. Later I went home and I
turned on my pc and I noticed that the mail wasn't in my inbox, even after a
manual sync. Today I turned on my work pc and I clearly saw that mail just
after starting kmail, but after few seconds the mail disappeared. I looked for
it with a search, but it was completely expunged.
This is really a sever bug.

Always look up keys by canonical email address

The original code did first try to look up the key by
non-canonical email address (e.g. 'Joe User j...@example.org') which
can lead to wrong key results if there are keys with the same name but
different email addresses. The fallback lookup with canonical address
wouldn't be triggered in this case, because the first lookup did return
a result (although a wrong one).
Now we only do one lookup with the canonical email address.

Hej Sabine,

I have changed the message viewer already to show status information if some
error condition happens. Attached is a patch which forwards the item retrieval
errors (caused when calling requestItemDelivery on the IMAP resource in
offline-mode) to the Akonadi::ItemFetchJob object, which itself will show the
error as status information in the message viewer.

@Volker is the patch Ok to commit or do you see any unwanted side effects,
since the complete ItemFetchJob fails now whenever requestItemDelivery fails?

I just found this bug after encountering this problem as well. I installed
Kubuntu 10.10 today and immediately upgraded to KDE PIM beta 3 through
Kubuntu's repositories. So I only started using KMail/Kontact for the first
time after having upgraded to 4.6 beta 3.

At first nothing seemed to be wrong and KMail would quote messages fine when I
would hit the reply button, but then I encountered the charset bug which is
described in bug #251658, see my comments there too. I used the workaround
(removing the empty 'pref-charsets' entry in $HOME/.kde/share/config/kmail2rc
in the [Composer] section) to fix that bug, but after doing that I noticed that
all standard templates were suddenly blanked as well. Possibly there is a
connection between these somehow?

Because by default the behaviour was fine and the templates were suddenly
blanked later on, my problem would indeed be more related to bug #184307
mentioned here in the comments, but that bug is for the old KMail.

I guess it'd be best to have a checkbox (per mail server) to say whether KMail
should care about the away mode or not.

--- Comment #7 from Waldek Szostak claim interia pl 2010-12-29 18:38:16 ---
Ah.. sorry, forgot to add..

I generally agree with Bjorn, though. If you decided it's too much bothering
with the checkboxes (meaning - the new functionality, aware of the away status,
would have to be always enabled), it's definitely better to let it stay the way
it is now.

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash

Operating System: Linux 2.6.34.7-0.5-desktop x86_64
Distribution: openSUSE 11.3 (x86_64)

-- Information about the crash:
I was editing a to-do item in Korganizer that had originated within eGroupware
project manger/info log. Actually all I did was place a check mark in the left
side box next to the item inKorganizer. I received a warning message that the
item was to be changed and then the crash message. I have to stop
Korganizer/Kontact and restart it along with stopping and strating Akonadi
after thesee crashes. The particular calendar I am saving to wihtin in
eGroupware does not sync through Akonadi however. This calendar was estalished
using the groupdav option in Korganizer. I also have a link to the eGroupware
calendar wihin Akonadi.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[Bug 261559] New: KMail stopped recognizing KWallet for password for specific SMTP server

2010-12-29 Thread Alexander van Loon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261559

Summary: KMail stopped recognizing KWallet for password for
specific SMTP server
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: a.vanl...@alexandervanloon.nl

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS:Linux

KMail gives the following error message if I try to enter a password for an
SMTP server:

KWallet is not available. It is strongly recommended to use KWallet for
managing your passwords.
However, the password can be stored in the configuration file instead. The
password is stored in an obfuscated format, but should not be considered secure
from decryption efforts if access to the configuration file is obtained.
Do you want to store the password for server 'smtp.gmail.com' in the
configuration file?

It then offers the options 'Store Password' and 'Do Not Store Password'.
However, KWallet seems to be fine so the error message is unjustified. I
apparently worked around the problem by simply sending an e-mail through the
specific SMTP server. Then KMail asks for the password on it's own initiative,
and then the password also appears in the settings. Without any further
complaints that KWallet is unavailable. This also means that I can no longer
reproduce the bug.

This is on KDE SC 4.6 RC1 with KDE PIM 4.6 beta 3.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Not sure how it started to happen. For the first e-mail account I added KWallet
stored the passwords fine, now that I have added a second one it starts
complaining when I need it to remember the passwords for the SMTP server. The
password for the IMAP server is remembered correctly.

[Bug 261572] New: POP3 account keeps downloading mails in offline mode

Status: NEW

I set KMail to offline mode and confirmed that pop3 went to offline. Still, it
keeps asking for the password from kwallet. I probably entered the password,
and it downloaded the mails. :( This is very bad as (in my case) cause two
computers to be out of sync regarding the downloaded mails.

[Bug 255388] Kmail filters dont work in incoming mail

KMail2 configuration files (AvL)

Today I installed a fresh Kubuntu 10.10 and upgraded immediately to Kontact 4.6
beta 3. After that upgrade I used Kontact for the first time and specified my
filters. My filters operate on the Inbox of an IMAP account. I have three
filters which filter on the List-Id header and the X-Bugzilla-URL header and
move the relevant messages to different subdirectories of the Inbox of that
IMAP-account. In the 'Advanced' section of the 'Configure Filters...' dialog
I've set the options for all three filters to apply them to incoming messages
and to only apply filters to the specific IMAP-account which is receiving those
messages (I have another IMAP-account as well which doesn't need filtering).
Like the other commenter, manually applying the filter works fine, but KMail
doesn't do it automatically on incoming messages. So beta 3 doesn't fix it for
me either.

I have similar issues in KDE 4.6 RC1 with PIM beta3 under Kubuntu 10.10. From
time to time Kmail cannot recall a password for POP/SMTP servers from Kwallet.
When I do not enter the password into the dialogue, but click on abort and try
to check for new mails again it works. I am not sure how to reliably reproduce
this behaviour, it appears only sometimes, especially when I recently startet
Kontact. Is Kontact running for some hours I did not see this bug.
