[Bug 250709] KMail: please use KWallet for GPG encryption/signing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250709 Thomas Fischer fisc...@unix-ag.uni-kl.de changed: What|Removed |Added CC||fisc...@unix-ag.uni-kl.de --- Comment #2 from Thomas Fischer fischer unix-ag uni-kl de 2011-05-09 10:40:27 --- Expected Results: KWallet provides the passphrase or the user is prompted to open KWallet I would like to suggest an alternative path here. Instead of making KMail take care of all the password handling and GnuPG communication without pinentry, write a new pinentry application called pinentry-kwallet, which works just like pinentry-qt or pinentry-gtk, but instead of asking the user for a password, it would look into the wallet first. This approach would have two advantages: First, it does not require any changes in KMail. Second, it would work for all application using gpg+pinentry, such as Thunderbird. Programming the pinentry-kwallet application should not be too difficult if one starts from pinentry-qt, as Qt already supports dbus which can be used to query the password from KWallet's storage. Volunteers? ;-) Maybe make it a junior job ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268120 --- Comment #22 from Stephen Kelly steveire gmail com 2011-05-09 12:09:45 --- I have only tested it in a KDE environment. I don't see how it is possible for this patch to be causing you issues. The changes are only defined in when KDE = 4.6.2 but you said you have 4.6.1. Are your packages compiled against 4.6.2? Are you able to build your own package, and try reverting the patches to see where the issue is? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268120 --- Comment #23 from Christoph Wickert cwickert fedoraproject org 2011-05-09 12:21:22 --- Yes, meanwhile Fedora updated to KDE 4.6.2. With KDE 4.6.0 and kdepim 4.4.10 I had the annoying dialog, but at least Kontact found the running akonadi instance. With 4.6.1 or 4.6.2 and kdepim 4.1.11 Kontact starts without the dialog, but is not functional. This problem first appeared when Rex applied the backported change from comment #5 in our kdepim-4.4.10-3 package. I will look into building a package with a reverted patch, but I don't think I will find the time this week. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 272854] New: After upgrade, unhelpful IMAP error messages are unhelpful notifications
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=272854 Summary: After upgrade, unhelpful IMAP error messages are unhelpful notifications Product: kmail2 Version: 2.0.95 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: kde-bug...@msquadrat.de Version: 2.0.95 (using KDE 4.6.2) OS:Linux I just upgraded to KMail 4.6-beta5, via the Kubuntu (natty) experimental PPA (KDE 4.6.3, Akonadi 1.5.2). After an otherwise uneventful migration, I was spammed by the Notification area with messages like Remote Folders: Select failed, server replied: A47 NO Invalid mailbox name. After KMail started successfully, these appear regularly. Remote Folders is the name of my IMAP account, the Ann are probably the IMAP sequence numbers from my Dovecot server. Still, I have no idea what is wrong here or even which folder is acting weird. Also, I have idea on how to fix this. That will be true for the average user, too, so unless the errors are significant (looks like everything works up to now), KMail should not spam me with errors I can't fix anyway. After a while the error Remote Folders: Unknown error. (Could not create collection) popped up as well. The server is dovecot 1.1.11-0ubuntu11. While most of this stuff is only slightly annoying, there is also the Fallback Encoding setting, which was changed to Arabic (I guess because it is the first element in the drop down list) instead of a sane (as in: matching my system settings/location or being helpful with broken mails) value like ISO 8859-1 or UTF-8.
