Something similar happened to me too on 4.7.0 just now. Suddenly all e-mail I
get via IMAP get marked as spam by Bogofilter.

I even marked tens of thousands (sic!) e-mails as ham, to teach it, but it
still doesn't behave nicely.

At the same time the spam state fancy headers are gone as well.

I deleted Bogofilter's database with 'rm ~/.bogofilter/wordlist.db' and am
training it again using the Spam Not Spam buttons in KMail.

It seems to work now. So at least in my case I think it was Bogofilter's and
not KMail's fault.

(The fancy spam headers are still missing, but that's not what this bug is
about)

The Kubuntu 4.7 packages seems to have less problems. Still around 25% of my
memory are used by akonadi and co. and it now downloads since more than hour
the headers after imap account initialisation. I can't read my Kate
mailfolder, as it won't load it until it is finished it seems.
Status bar shows 100% thought every few minutes a new folder is synced (as
can be seen in tooltip of status bar)

[Bug 279642] New: synchronising folder results in 400 MB additional private dirty memory consumption

2011-08-08 Thread S . Burmeister
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279642

Summary: synchronising folder results in 400 MB additional
private dirty memory consumption
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Mixed Maildir resource
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sven.burmeis...@gmx.net
CC: kevin.kram...@gmx.at

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

I have a mixed maildir resource with several ten thousand emails in different
folders. After starting up akonadi/kmail2/kontact and navigating a bit that
resource uses ~5-15 MB of memory (private dirty). Akonadiserver uses ~4MB,
kontact ~40 MB and mysqld ~50MB of memory. I can open different folders with
1 emails in them, scroll and read emails without any significant increase
in memory consumption.

Yet after some time the mixed maildir process suddenly uses 460 MB,
akonadiserver 60 MB, kontact 250 MB and mysqld 110 MB of memory, i.e. private
dirty memory, and do not release it ever or to be more precise within tens of
hours. Closing kontact does not help either regarding akonadi's memory
consumption. To get the amount of private dirty memory you can e.g. right click
on the process in KDE's system monitor and open the detailed memory
information.

I can trigger that increase manually by issuing synchronise folder on the
same folder with 1 emails in it. So my guess is that kmail2 or something
else triggers that synchronise folder from time to time when a user clicks on
that folder and ends-up with the huge memory consumption for the akonadi +
kdepim resource.

To put this into numbers:

Private memory consumption right after starting akonadi (~120 MB including
kontact with only kmail2 open: 160 MB):

mysqld 45536 KB dirty

akonadiserver 3836 KB dirty

akonadi_control 1384 KB dirty

akonadi_agent_launcher akonadi_akonotes_resource akonadi_akonotes_resource_2
3708 KB dirty

akonadi_agent_launcher akonadi_ical_resource akonadi_ical_resource_2 4172 KB
dirty

akonadi_imap_resource --identifier akonadi_imap_resource_2 6296 KB dirty

akonadi_imap_resource --identifier akonadi_imap_resource_3 6964 KB dirty

akonadi_kabc_resource --identifier akonadi_kabc_resource_4 4752 KB dirty

akonadi_agent_launcher akonadi_maildir_resource akonadi_maildir_resource_1 3824
KB dirty

akonadi_maildispatcher_agent --identifier akonadi_maildispatcher_agent 4140 KB
dirty

akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource --identifier akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0 4640
KB dirty

akonadi_nepomuk_calendar_feeder --identifier akonadi_nepomuk_calendar_feeder
4092 KB dirty

akonadi_nepomuk_contact_feeder --identifier akonadi_nepomuk_contact_feeder 4040
KB dirty

akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder --identifier akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder 7192 KB
dirty

akonadi_pop3_resource --identifier akonadi_pop3_resource_5 4096 KB dirty

akonadi_agent_launcher akonadi_vcard_resource akonadi_vcard_resource_2 3656 KB
dirty

akonadi_agent_launcher akonadi_vcard_resource akonadi_vcard_resource_3 3660 KB
dirty

Increase in private dirty memory consumption after synchronising a folder:
mixed maildir: +450 MB
akonadiserver: +55 MB
kontact: +200 MB
mysqld: +60 MB

That makes a total of 1 GB dirty private memory when using akonadi with
kontact.

IMHO opinion this kind of issue is crucial for akonadi's acceptance, simply
because it gives people a valid and very easy argument to put off
akonadi/kdepim as bloated without even considering its advantages.

Just in case. If you want me to run valgrind, please give me detailed
instructions. I hope the issue is easy enough to reproduce.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Click on synchronise folder for a folder with 1 emails in a mixed maildir
resource.

Actual Results:
Private dirty memory consumption of mysqld, akonadiserver, kontact and the
mixed maildir resource increases by several hundred MBs

Expected Results:
Since navigating/reading emails etc. is possible even when the processes only
consume a fraction of that memory, they should release the memory (needed)
while synchronising after it finished doing so.

Is there anyway this could be made using QtWebKit?
If not then the program used should be configurable as some might have another
text mode browser installed.

And what is the real usecase for this?
HTML display only uses html elements present in the actual mail and executes no
scripts or does any access to the internet without being told so by the user.

[Bug 44880] would like to be able to strip tags from html messages

--- Comment #16 from Thomas Fischer fischer unix-ag uni-kl de 2011-08-08

(In reply to comment #15)
Is there anyway this could be made using QtWebKit?
To my knowledge no, as WebKit is made for graphical presentation of HTML code
and you still would need some translation step. Using lynx would avoid
re-inventing the wheel.

If not then the program used should be configurable as some might have another
 text mode browser installed.
That would be possible. My patch so far is just a proof-of-concept and can be
expanded. My idea would be to keep it automagically if possible, i.e
automatically falling back to e.g. links2 if lynx is not available.

And what is the real usecase for this?
HTML display only uses html elements present in the actual mail and executes
 no
scripts or does any access to the internet without being told so by the user.
It is not only about malicious HTML code, but also about really badly formatted
HTML code such as spam, mails from people with bad taste regarding fonts and
colors, purists who despise any formatting at all, but like to keep a basic
text structure etc.

now in kmail (even in 4.7.1 now) we can configurate akonadi/kmail notification

Just found a workaround for my manifestation of this, with the aid of Tobias
Koenig:
As per comment #3, setting a path for Local Folders fixes the issue.

KMail debugs that the SpecialCollections could not be fetched.

In my Akonadi config my Local Folders agent had no path, hence no
SpecialCollections. Upon creating an appropriate (empty) folder and configuring
this, the error wentaway.

[Bug 279669] New: Crash while loading message in Inbox

2011-08-08 Thread Graham Cobb
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279669

Summary: Crash while loading message in Inbox
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.11
  Platform: Debian testing
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: g+...@cobb.uk.net

Application: kontact (4.4.11)
KDE Platform Version: 4.6.5 (4.6.5)
Qt Version: 4.7.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64 x86_64
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux testing (wheezy)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I had clicked on a larger mail message (in the Inbox listing) and had left
Kontact unresponsive while it loaded the message (from disk -- the message had
been delivered many hours before and my Inbox is in local storage).

I cannot be sure whether the crash was as a result of loading that message or
of handling a subsequent message being delivered -- I just know that before I
switched back to Kontact it died.

[Bug 279602] changing identity breakes e-mail content

2011-08-08 Thread Silver Salonen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279602

--- Comment #2 from Silver Salonen silver salonen gmail com 2011-08-08
17:57:39 ---
Well, one of my signatures is just Silver and it happens to be my default
identity. When I reply to my own e-mail, it has On whatever date Silver
Salonen wrote: at the beginning. Then I change my identity that has some more
official signature and that Silver Salonen wrote is changed to Salonen
wrote: and the new signature is placed twice at the top of the quoted text.

BTW, this has been like this for many years, but I've taken it just as
something that KMail does. It's still a bug though.

I've updated KDE to 4.7 (still with Akonadi 1.6.0), fetched mails and I see no
 dialog to remove duplicates.

The dialog appears sometimes, but not as much as before.

[Bug 279702] New: Error while uploading message

2011-08-08 Thread Andreas Pietzowski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279702

   Summary: Error while uploading message
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.10
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: andr...@pietzowski.de

Version: 4.4.10 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

Everytime my IMAP has new Mail my KMail filters the incoming messages. Since
the update to KDE 4.7 the messages are not moved to a special folder but a
message pops up which tells me:

-
Error while uploading message
Could not upload the message dated 09.08.2011 00:33 from XXX with subject YYY
to the server.
The destination folder was: IMAP-Account/Subfolder.
The server reported:
Missing message size.
-

When I run the filters manually, the emails are moved into the respective
folder and the filters work.

Thanks for investigating.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
IMAP-Filter which should move a message. Maybe an problem since updating to KDE
4.7?

Actual Results:
No moving of messages.

Expected Results:
Message should be moved according to the activated filter.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-10-generic
Compiler: gcc

Hi,

did it work after you re-logged in? I just encountered the same problem with
KDE 4.7 even though I did not attach anything to the mail. Restarting KMail or
Akonadi did not help. Logging out and back in again solved it (I'm not saying
the bug is solved, it's just a work-around).

[Bug 279708] New: Crash when viewing unread mail

Summary: Crash when viewing unread mail

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

Application: kontact (4.7.0 )

Qt Version: 4.7.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.38-10-generic x86_64

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I opened my spam folder, which is full of unread mail, set kmail to only show
unread mail, clicked on the message at the top of the list, and then kontact
crashed. Because kmail is kind of slow, it took a second for the message list
to only show unread messages, and the message I clicked on might have already
been read.

The crash does not seem to be reproducible.

[Bug 44880] would like to be able to strip tags from html messages

2011-08-08 Thread Torgny Nyblom

--- Comment #17 from Torgny Nyblom nyblom kde org 2011-08-09 05:55:14 ---
If I understand correctly this is for those who get html only mail (against the
RFC:s) and who wish to overrule the formatting. If this is true then I wont'
accept this patch as it adds more then it solves. If not could you please
clarify for me the real usage?
