akonadi_imap_resource (4.7) on KDE Platform 4.7.00 (4.7.0) using Qt 4.7.3

This crash happens sometimes randomly when I experience network problems.
Unlike the reporter, my computer wasn't in suspended state at all when this
crash happened. I was just working on the computer, nothing special.

I started Akonadi Console and I don't have any Local Folders nor KMail
Folders.

I went to the Agents page, then choose Configure native on the Local
Folders agent. It has no folder initially. I pointed it to a new empty folder
and now KMail started without problems!

So, seems to me that the Local Folders agent should check it's configuration
on startup and crete it's directory or a default one if it's missing.

It was reported for my by a Windows user that after he created a personal
calender ical ressource on an external memory stick he ran into that Problem.

We really need to handle this error case (Akonadi has a ressource configured
but cant access the data for whatever reason) far more gracefully then just
shutting the GUI down.
I am setting this to Major severity and personally think this bug should even
be critical because it makes Kontact completly unusable until the user finds
some way to edit the configuration. The Error message does not offer enough
information with regards to what is really broken. So most of the users will
face the impossible situation that they just can't use their Groupware Suite
anymore after the configuration got somhow out of sync with the actual data.

Torgny, my script is located into /home/user/bin

I configure a filter rule: All email from certain sender pass through pipe.

So the email come in from STDIN, and out striped to STDOUT.

Warning, is experimental but functional. i accept any help and suggestion about
this.

I waited until Akonadi had finished processing the contents of the maildirs and
then re-added my filters 10 at a time (I have 44 in total). It seems to be
stable now.

So the bug might be some kind of race condition that occurs when new mails
(from the point of view of KMail: the files are not new but their availability
through Akonadi is) are coming in at a fast pace and there are a lot of filters
defined. Or perhaps there is a problem if filters are moving mails to the same
maildir folder that Akonadi is scanning.

[Bug 280125] New: Spamassassin rescans all mails in imap inboxes at each kmail startup

2011-08-15 Thread Ralph Moenchmeyer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280125

Summary: Spamassassin rescans all mails in imap inboxes at each
kmail startup
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: filtering
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: r...@anracon.de

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

I use KDE 4.7 with Kmail 4.7. Today I activated spamassassin 3.x (Perl) as a
spamfilter via Kmails spam assistant.

I know that spamassassin in the Perl version is a relatively slow filter, but
it worked very well for the old Kmail 1.x versions.

However, now it seems that despite appropriate filter settings spamassassin
checks all the mails in the imap folder for incoming mails again after each
restart of kmail or even after changes to the filter settings. And this, of
course, blocks the use of Kmail for quite a while in case there are many mails
in the imap inbox folder.

In my opinion - after an initial first run - spamassassin should only check new
incoming mails. This, however, is not the case. From the progress information
one can clearly see that all (!) the mails in the imap inbox folder are checked
again immediately after each start of kmail.

In contrast to spamassassin there is no such behavior for bogo-filter.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Start kmail with an online imap inbox folder with many mails and spamassassin
(PERL version) activated.

Actual Results:
Spamassassin investigates all mails in the inbox folder after a kmail start or
a filter change.

Expected Results:
The spamassassin filter should only check new incoming mails.

[Bug 280008] kmail silently causes data loss when when fetching mail from a pop3 server

--- Comment #2 from Christian Trippe christiandehne web de 2011-08-15

I have to correct myself. The bug also happens when no filter (which moves the
mail directly into another folder) applies.

But for me it seems to happen less often in this case. But that is a bit hard
to determine.

I have the same problem, but in my case it seems that the data is cached. Only
the first access takes a very long time.

My biggest folder with more than 3000 mails (467 MB) takes 20 seconds to open
on the first access, consecutive accesses to this folder are instant.

The system load is used by the process akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource and a lot
of io-wait.

In KDEPIM 4.6.0 or 4.6.1 I had accepted an invitation to a shared event — an
event that was organised by someone else and I was one of the attendents. When
I clicked I accept on the automated invitation e-mail in KMail, the event was
added to KOrganiser and all was well :)

Then I upgraded to KDEPIM 4.7.0 and I received another automated e-mail with a
change that the event organiser made (change the date, time and turned off the
recurrence). When I clicked I accept or Show in Calendar, Kontact crashed.

[Bug 280144] When accepting a change of a shared event (received via e-mail), Kontact crashes

2011-08-15 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280144

--- Comment #1 from Matija Šuklje matija suklje name 2011-08-15 19:26:29 ---
I tried to reproduce the bug 5 times so far ant it always crashed.

Also it crashes *before* changing the event, so the event changes don't even
get applied.

2011-08-15 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280144

--- Comment #2 from Matija Šuklje matija suklje name 2011-08-15 19:32:26 ---
Played around a bit and basically clicking *anything* from this list (basically
everything that the system lets you do with the event) makes it crash:
 * [Record invitation in my calendar]
 * Accept
 * Accept cond.
 * Counter proposal
 *DeclineDelegate
 *Forward
 *Check my calendar

If I click the attached iCal file though, I can manually import it into my
calendar (but not as a change, only as a new event).

--- Comment #1 from Thomas Zell t zell gmx de 2011-08-15 20:49:40 ---
Similarly as in bug 260647 the process keeps running and consuming memory even
