I'm experiencing the same problem. I've added a CardDAV resource and deleted it
later. The birthdays are still in the birthdays resource.

The mysql.err suggests there might be something wrong with the MySQL database.

If you can still reproduce this problem, please wipe your Akonadi setup first
(that is delete ~/.local/share/akonadi and ~/.config/akonadi), then open
konsole and type:

akonadictl start

and copy/paste here all the output that it generates.

Building asapcat on Windows has been disabled (some time ago).

There does not seem to be any simple drop-in alternative to fcntl for Windows,
but since it's a developer tool and all devs are using Linux right now, it's
probably not a big problem.

[kmail2] [Bug 323066] New: local folders not created or used.

2013-07-31 Thread Fred Jackson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323066

Bug ID: 323066
   Summary: local folders not created or used.
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.10.5
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: fredrick.o.jack...@gmail.com

kmail no longer stores my email in local folders. This started after kmail
crashed and corrupted my folder structure. After repairing my folders and
re-importing my email in kmail, i find that kmail will no longer store my email
in maildir format, and further will not export my emails in any format I'm
familiar with or use. Is it possible for kmail to store my emails in maildir
format? if not, can I export it to maildir format? simply put, I've already had
kmail corrupt my entire email store twice and I don't trust the new backend
that stores everything in one file, permitting no chance recovery if a single
byte is corrupted.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. unable to get kmail to store my email in maildir format, period!!
2.
3.

My concern is that I have no UNBREAKABLE way of storing my current email store
which contains more than 10,000 emails. I've used kmail and the maildir format
for at least six or seven years and the maildir format has saved my email store
against any number of problems that could have destroyed it. I need a
TRUSTWORTHY way of backing up my email store.

[kmail2] [Bug 323066] local folders not created or used.

2013-07-31 Thread Fred Jackson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323066

--- Comment #1 from Fred Jackson fredrick.o.jack...@gmail.com ---
an additional mystery: it seems that any folder I create now, is stored on disk
at the local-mail directory (specified by the properties on the Local Folders
account). any content copied from my originally imported folders which are not
stored on disk to a newly created folder, is put on disk.
so I have found a workaround. So the real problem may be that the kmailcvt
doesn't import content so that it is stored in the local-mail folder. My inbox
folder is still not archived to disk but I can remove my content from the inbox
to another folder without too much trouble.
It seems to me that we should have control over the option to store our email
in maildir format, if not for the live store then perhaps an export utility?

[kmail2] [Bug 323068] New: Exponential growth of CollectionFetchJobs (infinite loop)

2013-07-31 Thread Thiago Macieira
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323068

Bug ID: 323068
   Summary: Exponential growth of CollectionFetchJobs (infinite
loop)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: thi...@kde.org

I don't know what caused this. Downgrading to a previous build of akonadi +
kdepim* did not help. This problem happens now with the build from April 11 as
well as the latest sources (as of right now).

Whenever Kontact / KMail is running, it is constantly requesting a full folder
listing, for whatever reason. Here's what I can tell from debugging and from
Akonadi Console:

Job tracker shows that KMail is creating *two* Akonadi::CollectionFetchJobs at
a time, two or three times per second. Since each job takes about a quarter
second to complete running, there's a build up of jobs. That is, every second,
KMail is requesting 1.25 to 1.5 second of work from the Akonadi Server. This
does not stop.

The Debugger in Akonadi Console shows an endless stream of:
 [red] 24 LSUB 0 INF (MIMETYPE (message/rfc822)) ()
[blue] * 420 419 (NAME Common Folders MIMETYPE (message/rfc822
inode/directory) REMOTEID .Common Folders REMOTEREVISION RESOURCE

/vendor/cmu/cyrus-imapd/partition default timestamp 1375301134)
[a lot more blue]
[blue] 24 OK List completed

In stderr, kontact is printing these two messages over and over again:
kontact(8751)/libakonadi Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsPrivate::emitChanged:
Emitting changed for akonadi_maildir_resource_0
kontact(8751)/libakonadi Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsPrivate::emitChanged:
Emitting defaultFoldersChanged.

(see below for the lines in LSUB that contained akonadi_maildir_resource_0)

The backtrace of that function is:

Conclusion:
1) when KMail starts, I suppose MailCommon::Kernel::initFolders is called to
initialise the folder listing
2) MailCommon::Kernel::initFolders creates a
Akonadi::SpecialMailCollectionsDiscoveryJob job (derived from
Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsDiscoveryJob)
3) when Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsDiscoveryJob finishes,
Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsDiscoveryJob::slotResult is called
4) Akonadi::SpecialCollectionsDiscoveryJob::slotResult iterates over the result
(201 folders). For two folders, it calls:

Hmm... note how there's a listing for *both* a localised and a non-localised
name of the outbox:

* 6 4 (NAME caixa de saída MIMETYPE (message/rfc822 inode/directory) REMOTEID
caixa de saída REMOTEREVISION 0 RESOURCE akonadi_maildir_resource_0
VIRTUAL 0 CACHEPOLICY (INHERIT true INTERVAL -1 CACHETIMEOUT 1 SYNCONDEMAND
true LOCALPARTS (ENVELOPE)) SpecialCollectionAttribute outbox ENTITYDISPLAY
(\caixa de saída\ \mail-folder-outbox\ \\ ()))
* 5 4 (NAME outbox MIMETYPE (message/rfc822 inode/directory) REMOTEID
outbox REMOTEREVISION 0 RESOURCE akonadi_maildir_resource_0 VIRTUAL 0
CACHEPOLICY (INHERIT true INTERVAL -1 CACHETIMEOUT 1 SYNCONDEMAND true
LOCALPARTS (ENVELOPE)) SpecialCollectionAttribute outbox ENTITYDISPLAY
(\caixa de saída\ \mail-folder-outbox\ \\ ()))

Both folders exist on disk. There is nothing in that outbox folder, though.
It shouldn't exist, but does.

After removing the unwanted folder from disk (rm -rf) and restarting the
maildir agent, the problem seems to go away.
