[kmail2] [Bug 332952] New: when sent mail goes to the inbox, incoming mail is labelled by To field, not From

2014-04-02 Thread Diggory Hardy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332952

Bug ID: 332952
Summary: when sent mail goes to the inbox, incoming mail is
labelled by To field, not From
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.12.3
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@dhardy.name

Instead of having sent mail placed in a 'sent' folder, I have it put in the
inbox (this allows email threads to be shown together like Gmail; eventually I
move the whole thread to an archive folder).

Bug: messages listed in the inbox are labelled with subject and recipient (To
field), using the Fancy theme. It appears this happens in any folder where
sent mail is placed, which makes sense for folders only containing sent mail
but not for folders which are also inboxes.

What should happen: whether sender or recipient is shown should be
configurable, or be the sender when in an inbox. ('Folder properties' → 'view'
→ 'show column' may be configuration intended for this, but doesn't work.) Or
possibly the theme should show both To and From using abbreviations for
common names or something.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Edit identity, set sent mail folder to the inbox. Restart if necessary, then
view mails in your inbox.

[Akonadi] [Bug 332953] New: maildir: Not supported type popup on mail receive: Unable to deserialize payload part

2014-04-02 Thread Martin Steigerwald
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332953

Bug ID: 332953
Summary: maildir: Not supported type popup on mail receive:
Unable to deserialize payload part
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.12.0
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Maildir Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: mar...@lichtvoll.de

I am setting this to critical, as I am not sure whether this causes data loss.
Please verify and lower the priority if the error message does not indicate
data loss. Thanks. I will now log out and do a clean reboot and filter / sort
mails. If they are still there then I will lower the severity myself again.

I upgraded from Akonadi 1.11.0 (from Debian Sid) to Akonadi 1.12.0 (from Debian
Experimental) to see whether it gives improvement regarding some issues I have.
I let the database migration complete.

On the first mail download / filtering I get some Maildir: Nicht unterstützter
Typ (translated: Maildir: not supported type) popups and Unable to
deserialize payload part errors in ~/.xsession-errors

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade from Akonadi 1.11.0 to 1.12.0.
2. Receive mails for a POP3 account which are to be locally stored in Maildir
3. Filter them. I think this step is not even needed.
Actual Results:
Maildir: Nicht unterstützter Typ (translated: Maildir: not supported type)
popup and errors like the following in ~/.xsession-errors:

This looses data! And worse yet: Due to the database upgrade I bet I cannot
downgrade to Akonadi 1.11.0!

I moved a Toyota newsletter from _Inbox folder to Mobil folder. I
disappeared from _Inbox but never appeared in Mobil folder:

martin@merkaba:~/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data grep Toyoda *

Toyoda .
martin@merkaba:~/.local/share/local-mail/.Lichtvoll.directory/Mobil#1

I did look in the folder above and below as well, in case I´d misdragged.

This issue has already been fixed in 1.12 branch. We will do 1.12.1 release
before KDE 4.13 final is out.

commit 50495dcbad84799af23bd24dfbbbefd99bc32afb
Author: Dan Vrátil dvra...@redhat.com

Don't emit flagsChanged notifications from AKAPPEND handler

We use DataStore::appendItemsFlags() to append flags to the newly created
item, but we don't want it to send out change notification, because it's
called before we actually send out the itemAdded notification, which can
confuse clients (and resources).

Bug ID: 332973
Summary: Kmail fails to recognize the digital signature of DHL,
reason kmail fais on nested multipart html messages
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11.5
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Created attachment 85911
  -- https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=85911action=edit
output of kmail with wrong signature

DHL an important logistics provider in Germany and Worldwide has a new service,
they sign their mails s/mime to avoid scams. This is very nice but fails with
KMAIL. The signature is shown as invalid.

DHL answered as follows:
vielen dank für Ihre Information.

Wir haben den Sachverhalt von der zuständigen IT-Abteilung untersuchen lassen.
Dieses Problem ist uns bereits bekannt und tritt vereinzelt bei älteren
E-Mail-Clients (zum Beispiel MS Outlook 2003 / Express) auf.
Diese E-Mail-Clients haben gelegentlich Schwierigkeiten mit der verwendeten
Technologie (hier: nested multipart).
Wir arbeiten zur Zeit daran eine Lösung auch für diese Art der Email-Clients
bereitzustellen.

Now...I hope that we are not on the level of older email clients like MS
outlook/express! They claim the reason is incapacity of the client side to
elaborate nested multpart messages.
I think this is an important feature given the size of DHL. Other providers may
get more serious on signing too.

In Upcoming Events is shown in the second column the time remaining for every
event. The problem is that when an event ends, you still see now. For
example, I had an activity from 9:00 to 10:00 and it's 19:00 and still appears
that the event is occurring now.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
The finished events must disappear from Upcoming Events.

[kmail2] [Bug 332973] Kmail fails to recognize the digital signature of DHL, reason kmail fais on nested multipart html messages

I suggest that this bug may also be related to the following reports:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=331991
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322932
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332036

Is it possible to attach a showcase email which fails to validate? Further, can
you verify that other clients (e.g. thunderbird) recognize the same email a
correctly signed?

showcase email: not from my part sorry (as it was eliminated, I did not even
think DHL would reply) butas they where so compliant, open and friendly
(and seem more than interested to get the problem fixed) you could contact them
officially from KDE for solving the issue and ask to put their technical staff
in contact with you. They will send you any example you may need I am dead
sure.

phish...@deutschepost.de

is your man for so to say. They covered it.

The duplicates: I do not use bogofilter (with which I had several issues in the
past) but spamassassin. The mail in question was not filtered actively but
stayed in the original mailbox. Of course filters where on. Of course the
filters work on and off like in all kmail versions since the change to
akonadi, I have filter logging running (felt since a decade), if it helps you
we could see if in the log there is something interesting the day the thing
arrived. As for the signature bug you mentioned (332036), this is for gpg, if
this is s/mime that is having identical issues, well I do not know. Hold in
mind however that it must/should be an issue with html messages (and
unfortunately this is practically the only signed s/mime html email I receive
in an entire year) because I receive gpg signed messages from Cert-Bund every
second day and they are filtered, mangled, classified, rattled, shaken and rock
and roll.and perfectly validly signed at the end of the process.
Regards
