as of this morning, it appears that the emails I sent out yesterday survived in
my local 'Sent' folder thru multiple reboots. Fixed?

I have an email where the date is not displayed, neither in the message list
nor in the header of the mail. At moment kmail is configured as
View-Headers-All headers and Date: and Message-ID: are empty there. When
displaying the source of the mail, I get:

[kmail2] [Bug 333201] New: Message list widget gets the next selection wrong after an expanded thread is deleted

2014-04-08 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333201

Bug ID: 333201
Summary: Message list widget gets the next selection wrong
after an expanded thread is deleted
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.12.97
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de

When I delete a thread with, e.g. N msgs: select first message, shift-click on
last msg in thread, the next msg below the thread gets selected. Now go down
e.g. 2xN msg and select them again with shift-click. Now only the first
message is select, the next N-1 msg are not selected, the last N msg are
selected again.

IMHO that a bug, I would expect that all 2xN msg are selected.

Workaround is after delete of the thread, click once on the first msg after the
thread that is already automaticly selected, then the following shift-click
selects all msg in the range as expected by a shift-click

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a folder and expand a thread (that has N msgs)
2. Click on the 1st msg of the thread
3. Shift-Click at the last thread msg and delete the thread (next msg after
thread is automaticly selected
4. Scroll down lets say 2xN msg and shift-click on this msg again.

Actual Results:
* 1st msg, that is automaticly selected the delete is still selected
* the next N-1 msg are not selected
* the last N msg are selected

Expected Results:
All 2xN msg are selected from 1st automaticly selected msg to the last msg that
I shift-clicked.

Message list setup:

Msg sort order: By date/time of most recent in subtree
Msg sort direction: Most recent on top
Group sort direction: decending

Aggregation: Current Activity, Threaded

Theme: fancy

Can confirm this with version 4.12.3. It happened after the update from 4.11 to
4.12. Also a couple of emails from an account got copied like 50 times each to
all the other IMAP accounts. A classic.

[kontact] [Bug 333208] New: autocomplete uses wrong ranking and recall is incomplete

2014-04-08 Thread Rigo Wenning
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333208

Bug ID: 333208
Summary: autocomplete uses wrong ranking and recall is
incomplete
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.12.97
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: r...@w3.org

I have three address books and tons of email: One SoGO address book I only
rarely use, my Personal Contacts that I often use and some linkedin import that
is there in case I don't have the person in the other two. Baloo indexed all my
email. Now I want to write a new message.
In KMail, I click on new message. In the to: field I start typing the last
name. After 4 letters, a long list of suggestions is shown. (Works really
quickly now). The list is organized according to the sources the suggestion
comes from.
Often, I know positively that there is a contact in my personal contacts. If I
start to type the last name, sometimes only addresses from SoGO are shown plus
a long list from other sources that Baloo had recorded from the indexed
emails (With all the variations of the email address name that was ever used in
the emails I received from others). So completion works, but not as expected.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create new email
2. type in last name of one of your contacts
3. enjoy a long unordered list of all iterations of that email known to the
system
Actual Results:
Precision is fine as I have only rarely/none false positives. Recall is low as
results are missing. I know I have a contact in my personal contacts and it
isn't shown. Instead, only the result from the SoGO address book is shown and a
long list of matches generated from harvesting my incoming email

Expected Results:
Better recall: At least the addresses from the local address books should be
found reliably
Better ordering: The email address is a unique ID, thus very easy to sanitize
in an IT system. So the email should be only shown once from every source. It
may make sense to let the user expand the list with a [more ...] to see the
full list of matches

The address books should be shown in order: Local first and then remote and
then what was harvested from the incoming email.
