[Akonadi] [Bug 360834] no mechanism to reattempt to store items without rid (just in db) into the resource

2016-03-23 Thread Martin Steigerwald via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360834

Knut, it is safe to remove them (but only the file_lost+found files not
file_db_data!). That Akonadi leaks files in file_db_data which akonadictl fsck
moves to lost+found is a known bug that has been fixed. There are references to
it in this bug tracker on on kdepim-users mailinglist (I donĀ“t have the
references at hand atm and its late here). Make sure you have latest kdepim
15.12. The leakage of files in file_db_data should be fixed (maybe what you see
here are old leaked files and akonadictl fsck now cleaned.)

Please otherwise try to keep the bug clean and only to the original potential
data loss issue it reports. Use kdepim-users mailing list for further
questions. (Bugs that have comments of a lot of different issues are difficult
to follow for developers that why I set the duplicates this way around).

Thanks,
Martin

[kdepim] [Bug 360923] [compatibility] broken characters in subject, if it is splitted violating RFC

2016-03-23 Thread mva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360923

--- Comment #3 from Vadim A. Misbakh-Soloviov (mva) ---
As you can see in attached message, there is splits just in the middle of
character (between 0xd0 byte and "informative" byte)
> =?utf-8?Q?=d0=b4=d0=b0_=d0=b2_=d1=86=d0=b5=d0=bd=d1=82=d1=80_=d0=bf=d0?=

and exactly in that places messageviewer renders two diamonds instead of
character.

Hi!
Unfortunately, it is 5 am here, so I can't remember (and can't google for it
right now) the number of RFC describing subject header splitting rules, but I
do remember, that it forbids splitting characters and states that split should
be before the first byte of the character in that case.

And also I do remember, that there probably was similar bug in old kmail from
the times of kde3.

Anyway, the problem is in that fact, that messagelist doesn't concat that
splitted-in-the-middle characters in the Subject header, and render two (in
case of utf8) diamonds instead.
Other clients (Thunderbird, Outlook and so on) do show it normally.

content).

Reproducible: Always

Hey Martin,

since you marked https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344242 a duplicate of
this I continue here.

In the other bug report I have written about my experience with data loss and
described a workaround to make sure that data - in my case emails - will be
copied were they belong - in my case local mail folder. Nevertheless one
problem remained, the growth of ~/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data. After a
couple of weeks it holds again tens of thousands of items.

After reading what you recommended to Guido I also ran "akonadictl fsck" which
brought up quite a few items without RID. But it also said it had found loads
of items without a reference in the database. Unfortunately I did not redirect
the output to a file and thus most of it is lost. What I still could see are
many entries like this:

Migrated part 1324911 to new levelled cache

When I started it again I got following output:

[knut@chakra-pc ~]$ akonadictl fsck
Looking for resources in the DB not matching a configured resource...

Collection "DeclinedInvitations" (id: 28496) has no RID.

Item "649909" has no RID.
.
here came many more RID entries
.
Found 87 items without RID.
Item "499424" has RID and is dirty.
Found 1 dirty items.
Migrating parts to new cache hierarchy...
Consistency check done.

When I checked ~/.local/share/akonadi/file_lost+found I saw that most of the
files that had been in "file_db_data" before invoking "akonadictl fsck" were
moved there. Now "file_lost+found" holds more than 2GB of files whereas
"file_db_data" only holds less than half a GB.

Now I wonder it it is save to delete all the files in "file_lost+found" to get
disk space back? Or will this cause loss of data? Deleting files in
"file_db_data" caused massive data loss.

Knut

I can copy/paste text all day long into kwrite without it changing fonts. In
fact sometimes I will paste into kwrite and then into kmail to skip the font
conversion part. Maybe its something to do with klipper and having it not
copy/paste or bring over the font information.

when copy/paste
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.14.10
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: w...@obsidian-studios.com

It is VERY annoying to have kmail change the font when copying/pasting text
into an email. This is a plain text email, so it should not change fonts other
than the one set for the composer. Not sure if a setting could be made to fix
the font so any copy/paste with different font would be ignored. Really do not
see the benefit or why it should carry the font over in the first place. Maybe
if it was a HTML email and you wanted to preserve the font. This could be
carrying over from underlying libraries used and not be specific to kmail. But
when composing email, and I copy and paste text. It should all be in the same
font as the email was being composed it, which mine is set to Nimbus Sans, a
default I did not set that.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Copy text from another application in a different font into Kmail
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The copy/pasted text is in a different font than the rest of the email.

Expected Results:
The font does not change, and remains the same font as the email was being
composed it, just copys/pastes the text and if needed does any font conversion.
But should just ignore the font.

I am not certain if this is a regression to bug 286481 again, the symptom looks
very similar to me.

When receiving PGP/MIME encrypted mails from Apple Mail with GPGMail (in most

attachments instead of asking to decrypt them.

[kontact] [Bug 360901] New: Kontact 5.1.2 crashes silently with segfault when resizing from full-screen

2016-03-23 Thread via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 360901
Summary: Kontact 5.1.2 crashes silently with segfault when
resizing from full-screen
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: staka...@freenet.de

opensuse 42.1 leap, open during start-up to full-screen.
Take the program at the bar, tear it down (a re-size should happen).
Instead it crashes silently with a segfault. No konqi comes up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. opens kontact 5.1.2 in Leap full-screen
2. take it at the bar and tear it down to resize
3. crashes with segfault.

Actual Results:
Program segfaults if tearing on bar. Does not segfault if minimizing or closing
to tray.

Expected Results:
Program should re-size from full-screen and not crash.

The version of kontact/kmail 5.1.2 does not come as first choice, 4.12 (or 13?)
is given. But the use of it is encouraged.
The program segfaults silently but I will join the output when running on
console.
Note: this is independent if running it with imap support, or with pop. No
matter, it crashes.
It is also independent of the use of filters, of clamav etc.
Graphics driver of this system is the intel i915.
For the rest this system is practically standard with only packman joined. The
4.x version is not hit.
Output of the CLI (the xxx are anonymizations).

[kdepim] [Bug 360850] broken characters encoding on replying multipart emails

although, it (predictably) doesn't change that bug behaviour in messageviewer.

By the way. I'm just found, that "Keep original charset when replying or
forwarding (if possible)" checkbox changes that behaviour (bug appears when it
checked and disappears when unchecked)

[kmail] [Bug 218986] using multiple sending accounts the default outgoing transport is always used

2016-03-23 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218986

Using Kontact 4.14.2, I could configure this to always work correctly. Like I
mentioned before, the settings are a bit confusing but if you configure them
correctly, you can have your mails sent automatically through the correct
account.

If you want you email addresses to be retrieved and sent separately in KMail,
you will need the following for each email address:
1. An Identity for that email address (e.g. John Doe)
2. A receiving Account for that email address (e.g. IMAP/POP3/etc.)
3. A sending Account for that email address (e.g. SMTP)

You then need to configure them as follows:
1. In the Identity's settings, you need to configure 2 things (on the Advanced
tab):
a. Configure the sent-mail folder to the Sent folder in your account
b. Fill in the Outgoing Account of the Identity to the sending Account (SMTP
server) for that email address
2. In the receiving Account's settings, you need to configure the correct
Identity to use for that email address

The effects of these settings are as follows:
1a. Causes your sent mail to be stored in the Sent folder on the email server
and therefore also shown under that account (and not in the Local Folders)
1b. Causes the mail that is configured for a specific Identity to be sent with
that specific sending Account (SMTP server)
2. Causes mails created from a specific Account (e.g. replies to a mail from
that Account) to automatically use that Identity. This fills in the Identity on
that mail, which also fills in the "From:" field on the mail, but without
configuring 1b it will still send mails with the default sending Account (SMTP
server).

Configuration step 1b was the last part that was missing since the last time I
tried this. Now it works correctly every time.

by the way, as second mbox attachment in bug #360851 shows, messageviewer, when
called in separate viewer window, is affected by that bug too.
