SUMMARY

KMail never loads external references from the internet even though it has been
explicitly allowed in the Settings.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable Settings>Configure KMail>Security>Reading>Allow messages to load
external references from Internet
2. Open a mail with external references
3. 

EXPECTED RESULT

It should load external references like images from internet.


ACTUAL RESULT

A message is constantly displayed which is as follows

I suffer similar issue (I think), in Gentoo with 5.8.3 version and in Kubuntu
18.04 with 5.7.3.

I'm trying connect to Zimbra (I think is a 5.x version). It list all my
calendars, but won't show any event.

Tried connection with cadaver without success (says that cannot find a
collection resource). If use -t parameter I can force connection (same error)
but I can list the events.

I don't know if this is caused by poor implementation of caldav protocol in
Zimbra or issue in akonadi.

In Kubuntu 14.04 I can connect and show all events but Zimbra admins ban my
account due a lot of request.

Starting akonadi with debug flags, outputs:

It is possible to disable that functionality. I digged in the settings, but I

Seems to be that on some occasions identity name and/or email name are compared
against the full user name and the "Ich" is inserted in some place.

these are not:
- new additional identity is created with old email name and address and set as
standard

these are:
- old identity gets deleted, new steps up as standard, comparisation executed,
bingo
- others, I can't describe exactly

I can't prove for sure but the problem seems to exist only if the name of the
configured identity in kmail is the same as the users full name in /etc/passwd
(5. entry?).

Create an other identity (let's assume "BS") with the same old email name and
address and everything works fine.
Rename this new identity back to users full name (here "Bernhard Schiffner")
and you get the "Ich" problem again.
(But rename it back again to "BS" doesn't work, you have to recreate the "BS"
identity from zero.)

I don't like too much magick ...

Screenshot with the unwanted and abbreviated identity

The view for email headers (encoded in
/usr/share/messageviewer/defaultthemes/5.2/header.html) shows in my case in
fields containing my email account "Ich" instead of "Bernhard Schiffner 
" as I would like to see it. 

As example it can be delivered by the entry "header.from|safe" in the above
mentioned header.html file.
"Ich" is German, translating into I / me / myself.
When hovering this field the link itself is the complete one and ok to use.

"Ich" is not part of any identity configured in kmail.
I can't figure out where this replacement originates from. I grep'ed  in
~/.config and  ~/.local folders with no result.

I don't know what to do about.

I need some debug output from Akonadi, otherwise I can't even guess what's
going on.

Enable logging and restart Akonadi from terminal:

export QT_LOGGING_RULES="*=true;qt_*=false"
akonadictl restart


You should be seeing more than plenty of messages, you may want to redirect
them to a file.

On Plasma 5.14 beta, in the Wayland session, I can minimize Kmail to the
systray when I click the "Close" icon in the window decoration. But then I
cannot restore it when I get an email : the window appears totally frozen and
the only way to make it start again is to stop akonadi and kill Kmail.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a Plasma Wayland session, start Kmail
2. Minimize Kmail
3. Restore Kmail

EXPECTED RESULT
Kmail should restore

ACTUAL RESULT
The Kmail window is displayed but it is completely frozen
