[korganizer] [Bug 483976] New: KOrganizer forgets the enabled calendars

2024-03-19 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483976

Bug ID: 483976
Summary: KOrganizer forgets the enabled calendars
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 6.0.0
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: aman...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
KOrganizer regularly forget what calendar was enabled and all calendars remain
unchecked.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Hard to reproduce, but I suspect this happens when KOrganizer crashes for
whatever reason. That is what happened just now: some calendars were enable,
removed an event. While Kontact was in the background, it crashed. After
restarting no calendars were enabled.
This bug is not recent, it is around for a very long time.

OBSERVED RESULT
All calendars are unchecked.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should keep the state the user selected.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2

Should we keep this open? I'd close with wontfix, as nowadays Konqui is well,
less usable as a default browser anyway, so people usually have one fixed main
browser, as Open in External Browser works fine in that case.

Theoretically anything related to opening and closing webpages in Akregator is
a duplicate in the sense that even if the exact reproducing method is not the
same, the patch should fix it.
I just found out though, that there are other webengine instances, outside of
Akregator in Kontact, so probably not all kontact crashes (eg. Kontact crash on
close) are fixed by it.

[Akonadi] [Bug 371112] New: Handle akonadi_control and akonadiserver crash gracefully

2016-10-18 Thread András Manţia via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371112

Bug ID: 371112
Summary: Handle akonadi_control and akonadiserver crash
gracefully
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: GIT (master)
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: server
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: aman...@kde.org

When akonadi_control or akonadiserver crashes, the agents and resources remain
in memory, and an akonadictl restart or akonadictl stop does not remove them.
This case should be handled gracefully (the agents should detect the server
crashed).

Reproducible: Always

[Akonadi] [Bug 345822] New: Mail gets corrupted using IMAP/Kolab resource

2015-04-03 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345822

Bug ID: 345822
Summary: Mail gets corrupted using IMAP/Kolab resource
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Kolab Resource

How the message looks on server

A mail from a certain mailing list is always shown as corrupted in KMail,
because the To field is somehow lost. I'm not sure if this is IMAP specific,
though, but I had no time to debug inside the code.
Attached is the email as downloaded from Roundcube (good.eml) and from KMail
(bad.mbox).
The problem is the following:
- in good.eml, there is a line To: undisclosed-recipients:;
- in bad.mbox this became: To

Which messes up header and mail parsing.
If you open good.eml in KMail all is fine, so the real problem is that the
undisclosed-recipients:; got lost at some place (message reassembly after
download? ).

[Akonadi] [Bug 283682] KMail duplicates filtered messages

2014-12-16 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682

--- Comment #121 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
Tobias Leopold, you are probably right of being a timing issue. If you can
reproduce it, and could work on the code, the chances of fixing it would be
high(er). As I pointed out already, I use POP3 and IMAP with local filters on
two machines and didn't see this problem for a long time, so best would be to
fix on a machine where it actually manifests it.
It was a long time ago when I last worked on Akonadi/KMail code, but here are
some hints:
- add debug output (possibly with timestamps) in the filtering and the akonadi
code. You might have to do that both in the akonadi server and the akonadi
resources (filter agent and the base classes)
- the filter agent is in kdepim/mailfilteragent, the starting point could be
mailfilteragent.cpp and there the itemAdded() method. This is called when a new
mail appeares in a monitored folder (ie. the inbox)
- itemsReceiviedForFiltering() there is called when the filter agent retrieves
the above item (so it can analyze that it needs to be filtered or not)
- interesting code could be also in Akonadi::AgentBase class (kdepimlibs
repository) and the changeRecorder() part, but only if you can't figure out
anything useful from the above
- mailfilteragent/filtermanager.cpp is the code that does the filtering.
processContextItem() is the method that does the move/copy of the messages.
Adding debug output here also makes sense to see when does this happen
- for the server itself you can enable debugging in the akonadiconsole app,
although this will give you lots of data and will make things slow, so better
make sure you don't get lot of mails while debugging is enabled. But it can
show all the communication between the akonadi server and the clients and all
the jobs running and their order.

[Akonadi] [Bug 283682] KMail duplicates filtered messages

2014-11-17 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682

--- Comment #113 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
Unless someone changed meantime, the way it works is:
- mail is delivered to Inbox
- the filtering code gets a notification of new mails
- it runs the filters on them and does what you have set up in the filter, like
moves the mail

[Akonadi] [Bug 283682] KMail duplicates filtered messages

2014-11-04 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682

--- Comment #108 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
If you look at the history, you see we care about it and use it. Unfortunately
I have no real time for KMail these days, and for me it works. Both for POP3
and IMAP accounts, I have no mail duplication with filters, so it is really
hard to do anything without spending a lot of time on it,

--- Comment #16 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
Git commit d161e37622f8acb550d54cacd48f4886354fc1e5 by Andras Mantia.
Committed on 18/11/2013 at 16:18.
Pushed by amantia into branch 'KDE/4.12'.

Use QDirIterator for listing the maildir folders. This:
- avoids some extra stats
- avoids calling into Maildir::findRealKey that caches the keys and uses a lot
of memory for no real reason (in this case)

[Akonadi] [Bug 322871] mail filters do not work for incoming messages if the destination folder of the pop3 resource is not the inbox

2013-11-19 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322871

--- Comment #4 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
do I understand you correctly that this is supposed to work after an akonadi
restart? Yes, that is what I see here. The filter agents doesn't detect
changes in the POP3 configuration until it is restarted (which is usually done
by a full akonadi restart).

If you change the destination folder, the change is not noticed until you
restart Akonadi, but once it is restarted, all works fine. I find this as a
minor issue, I don't think POP3 destination mailbox is changed often.

Very similar to yours, based on List-Id and works on a specific POP3 account.

2013-07-09 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=255388

--- Comment #91 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
Adrian: none of the List-Id based filters work for you? As I see you are using
an IMAP account, is it disconnected imap or online imap?

[Akonadi] [Bug 255388] Kmail filters dont work in incoming mail

2013-05-29 Thread András Manţia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=255388

--- Comment #88 from András Manţia aman...@kde.org ---
Works for me (also for List-Id) since I originally fixed the bug - all mails
are filtered - , so those who have problems should give me more information,
like:
- the exact filters (basically the filter rules file with sensitive info
replaces by some string, like )
- detailed description about the account types used

You can finetune the cache and you could do that always (no idea when it was
introduced, but probably in early days of akonadi). Right click on folder,
Retrieval and see the Retrieval options. You can do this per account (by
changing the toplevel folder's properties) or per folder.

I'm surprised by this bug, as I use maildir with pop3 exetnsively and don't
have mail losses. Can you try to put the Mail directory onto an ext4 fs and see
if you still have problems?

Seems your imap resource is crashing (but you refer to maildir originally, so
might be not related). Anyway, can you do a ps uax | grep akonadi to see what
akonadi processes are running?

see bug 292418.
Reopen only if you see the problem for mixedmaildir accounts. If you see with

Git commit d8fd7a28e7d6d8a89dd398311d423118ff529718 by Andras Mantia.
Committed on 28/03/2013 at 22:45.
Pushed by amantia into branch 'KDE/4.10'.

1) Fix creation of new toplevel folders (and all its subfolder): it used to
generate a broken remote id and separtor (i) causing weird problems.
2) Make sure toplevel imap folders are shown immediately, without a need to
sync the account (workarounds an ETM bug 291143)
3) Warn the user if creating a folder failed on server-side and remove the
folder locally. Otherwise if creation failed, it was impossible to create again
a folder with the same name,
as it was already a folder with that name in the akonadi cache...
4) Make sure deleting folder foo doesn't deleted all folders starting with
foo as it did before.
5) Just fix folder deletion. :) It could fail in certain cases.
6) Fix and adapt the tests.

Reporters of closed bugs: if you can still see the bug in 4.10.2, please reopen
and state the details.

I made a fix for a problem that could give the above error, it will be in KDE
4.10.2 (sorry, it missed 4.10.1).
Please test with that as well and if it is still reproducible, find the mail
folders on the file system and tell me their structure for the directory it
gives the error. Should be something like:
folder
folder/cur
folder/tmp
folder/new
.folder.directory (if the folder has subfolders)

Can you please test it in KDE 4.10.1? There was a bug related to file watching
and leaking file descriptors(a bug in Qt) that is workarounded now.
I'd like to know if this fixes your bug.

I cannot promise. The linked commit is only part of the fix. It needs
not-yet-released Akonadi server, changes in the Akonadi client library (new
API), that is not allowed to be introduced in patch releases.
