I have managed to add the agent by creating it in the console, then shutting
down akonadi, then editing the agent config file to add the network section
which was missing:

[network]
Authentication=9
UserName=XXX

I am uncertain the username is required. But the [network] section definitely
is, and I don't know why it's not created.

Maybe an update will fix it, but it doesn't work for me, either through the

I can confirm this is related to kmail. Restarting indeed clears the display
issue. I've changed the product.

I will try this. I thought I already had. could it be linked with the headers'
display then?

[Akonadi] [Bug 474538] New: The EWS fetched mails are frequently corrupted

2023-09-15 Thread Cyrille Dunant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474538

Bug ID: 474538
Summary: The EWS fetched mails are frequently corrupted
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.24.1
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: EWS Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: cyrille.dun...@gmail.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu, kri...@op.pl
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The EWS fetched mails are frequently corrupted: the mail itself and its content
are fine, but the show up as (No Subject) with a date of October -4714. When
the cache is deleted and the mails refetched they are listed correctly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Let the EWS agent run normally

OBSERVED RESULT

Mails are frequently misclassified as having no subject, unknown sender and a
strange date. purging the cache and relaunching fixes it, but it is very
irritating as it happens for a good fraction of the mails requiring frequent
restarts

EXPECTED RESULT

sender subject and date should be reported correctly.

2022-04-21 Thread Cyrille Dunant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452480

I solved the bug: it is a packaging error: the library
kcalendar_grantlee_plugin.so is wrongly put in
/usr/lib64/KTextTemplate/kcalendar_grantlee_plugin.so instead of the
grantlee/5.2/ directory.

I'm not too sure how to proceed, but there is either a bug in the build of the
opensuse packaging system.

--- Comment #29 from Cyrille Dunant <cyrille.dun...@gmail.com> ---
As a comment -- I don't know if that helps -- I actually resolved the issue by
reconfiguring everything from scratch.

My suspicion is that as I run git snapshots, the configuration sometimes gets
muddled up, and it results in things like emails not being sent.

[Bug 304096] New: When a thread becomes too long, titles are hidden and selecting mails difficult

2012-07-26 Thread Cyrille Dunant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=304096

Bug ID: 304096
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.9 pre
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: When a thread becomes too long, titles are hidden and
selecting mails difficult
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: cyrille.dun...@gmail.com
  Hardware: openSUSE RPMs
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: message list
   Product: kmail2

When a mail thread becomes too long, eventually, the mail titles disappear and
selecting them becomes tedious.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
have a long back-and-forth email conversation, always using reply and not
touching the title
Actual Results:
the last messages in the thread are hidden in the display and clicking on them
is hit-or miss.

Expected Results:
some form of reset would be desirable, for example
bla

 Not possible to do it.
Otherwise we must break thread to do it.
 = no good

I might have been unclear: I would just like the _display_ of the thread to
have a depth reset after a while with a marker to indicate that.
Thread display would be:

threadLevel = realTreadLevel % maxDepth ;
if(realTreadLevel % maxDepth == 0  realTreadLevel)
 displayResetMarker() ;

If this is too complicated, never mind. But can we pretty please have at
scrollbar appear?

I can (sort of)reproduce this bug with Project Neon ( which is currently
using kdelibs master , and pretty much everything else from master as
well ). Currently as soon as i start up my session , nepomukindexer
starts hogging all my CPU's ( note this is a 8 core machine ) and then
i have to kill the indexer manually via a SIGTERM to bring everything
back to normal, giving me a backtrace similar to the one attached ( i
reported it as a bug which was marked as a duplicate of this one ).

not related to this bug: can you provide the file that makes nepomukindexer
 go wild?

I noticed (using the openSuse snapshots of -- I presume -- master) that what
happens is this: some files are apparently slow to index (I must still have
some of them on my disk, but mostly PDFs generated with inkscape: no text,
mostly drawings) Then, when the indexer gets stuck, it launches another. Now
if you have a bunch of these files, you may end up with 20 indexers running.
Eventually, if you wait long enough, they'll complete their tasks and things
will go back to normal. But in the meantime, the system gets hammered.

This may or may not be related.

[Bug 247848] New: akonadi fails syncing large collections from scratch

2010-08-14 Thread Cyrille Dunant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=247848

Summary: akonadi fails syncing large collections from scratch
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.5
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
AssignedTo: er...@kde.org
ReportedBy: cyrille.dun...@gmail.com
CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org

Version: 4.5 (using Devel)
OS:Linux

The syncing of a large collection/directory is done (seemingly) as an atomic
operation: one never sees the directory filling up as it is synced up.

Now if the collection is large and the download unreliable/sometimes
interrupted it is impossible to finish the syncing.

For example, I have 1 mails on a google mail account and the sync was not
done overnight. Worse, because of the download limit of google, it was
interrupted and all that had been downloaded was not cached, and presumably has
to be downloaded again.

I have activated the offline cache option.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
download a very large collection over an unreliable connection (small
interruption every half hour)

Actual Results:
No progress in the download is apparent after many hours

Expected Results:
download should at least be partially completed, and continued when the
server/the connection is restarted

[Bug 247077] New: irregular crashes of imap agent

2010-08-08 Thread Cyrille Dunant

Summary: irregular crashes of imap agent
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
AssignedTo: er...@kde.org
ReportedBy: cyrille.dun...@gmail.com

Application: akonadi_imap_resource (0.1)
KDE Platform Version: 4.5.63 (KDE 4.5.63 (KDE 4.6 = 20100805)) release 2
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop x86_64
Distribution: openSUSE 11.2 (x86_64)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

As the non-UIDPLUS servers became non-blacklisted, I connected to one on these.
However, the download of the entire from tree never completed (more than 1
messages with big attachments.) Eventually, I used the web interface to the
same server to separate the bulk of the messages in smaller dierectories
(1000-1500 messages) and the synchronisation completed.

Now it works, except for the occasional crashes. I don't know if the issues are
related.

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

I would gladly do that if given some clues how to do it :)

Does this mean that a new akonadi ressource will have to be implemented for the
servers which do not have UIDPLUS? Then how will the UI look like if there are
two IMAP ressources?

This bug is a regression from the previous kmail, which supported servers
without UIDPLUS.

It is also an important use-case, because MS exchange servers which are
configured to provide IMAP access can be configured without UIDPLUS (this is my
case, and I clearly will not be able to budge the admins)
