I haven't seen it in a while. At the moment I am running kmail 2.0.95 (from KDE

Right now I am using:
Qt 4.7.1
KDE 4.6.2
KMail 2.0.89

And the bug is still there.
It does not always occur, sometimes it works as expected,
sometimes I see that annoying behaviour.
Unfortunately it feels like it's random...

[Bug 265361] New: Some emails from gmail appear on the list with '(no subject)' subject and 'unknown' other details

2011-02-03 Thread Jakub Schmidtke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=265361

Summary: Some emails from gmail appear on the list with '(no
subject)' subject and 'unknown' other details
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0.89
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sja...@gmail.com

Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS:Linux

Every time after starting kmail2 (not opening it from the tray, starting the
application after it wasn't running) and opening my gmail folder (it doesn't
happen with regular IMAP server) some number (usually between 2 and 10) of
random, older messages appear on top of the list (my list shows newest messages
first) with '(no subject)' in subject field, and 'unknown' in all the other
fields - date, sender, most recent date.
When I click such message, it feels like kmail2 downloads it from the server
(it takes a few seconds), and displays properly. The fields of that email
remain unset on the message list.
After I open a different folder, and come back to the inbox, those messages are
gone (have proper field values set and are in the right place of the list - way
down the list).

In the old kmail, when you deleted a message, the next one in the same folder
would be selected. So it was possible to delete several messages one by one
just by pressing delete several times. Now, after a message is deleted, the
next message is not selected, so after deleting each message it is necessary to
select
another one with the mouse. It makes operating on the message list more
difficult.

They are not that current. So I have to build it from SVN. And I can do that,
but I would like to know where in SVN that change was made, so I could only
build and install that part, not the entire KDE. Was it the kmail? Or akonadi?
The path to the commit, or at least a path to modified files would be
sufficient.

I removed: ~/.kde4 (which is KDE's dir used by Arch), and ~/.kderc, and also
most of ~/.local and ~/.config (Akonadi kept some stuff there), and anything
KDE-related in /tmp and /var/tmp. So the system was not a fresh install, but
there was no KDE configuration (unless I missed anything)

When I create a new IMAP account, and right click on its name in the folder

After a while (not sure if it is after I close and reopen the kmail, or after
some mail has been downloaded), that option is no longer there.
I wanted to change retrieval options of all the folders in the account,
and each of them have an option to use options from parent folder or account.
Without that folder properties for the account there is no way to edit it for
all the folders inside that account. And I haven't found a way to edit it

Kmail2 included with 4.6 beta2 is close to unusable.
The migration from kmail migrated the emails, but kmail2 would not retrieve new
messages any more. So I started with an empty configuration and recreated
everything. And it worked for a bit, downloaded the emails, but now
it justs sits there. If I want to open an email it just displays Retrieving
Folder Contents Please wait . . . message. It also doesn't download new
messages that I know are there. And it has been after a clean reboot of the
system. No progress bars, no activity, nothing is going on, just this message,
which disappears after a while and just shows an empty email.

I described what I had in the template window. The problem is not with the
composer not using the templates. The problem is with default values of those
templates.

I started with an empty KDE configuration, and all those templates were set to
%BLANK, resulting in behaviour described. Once it is set to %QUOTE it works
fine. Do you expect every KDE user to set those things manually?

I looked at the bug 184307 and found something about 'use defaults'. In my case
this helped too, pressing 'default' button restored those templates to a usable

well... default when there is nothing set, right? ;)

In my case there is no systray unread message count at all, and unread message
counts in the folderview don't decrease at all. Not sometimes, it happens every
time. I have to quit kmail and start it again to get rid of unread message
numbers from folder names.
I use IMAP accounts.

It has been like this in 3.5, and is still in 4.5.
It's really really annoying.

[Bug 74938] [PATCH] Clicking kmail notification in tray should always bring kmail window to top

Iori: What's that bug's number?
I submitted a similar one: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123532 and I
guess it is a duplicate of yours, not of this one.

I'm not sure what was the correct behaviour and why this was resovled, but
kmail from KDE 4.1 when opened from tray brings you to the desktop it was
previously opened on. Since the bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89847
is marked as a duplicate of this one, this behaviour should be fixed as a part
of resolving this one, right? Current behaviour is really really irritating :/
