[kmail2] [Bug 393421] No ability to hide the HTML Message Status Bar

2018-04-23 Thread Jani-Matti Hätinen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393421

--- Comment #11 from Jani-Matti Hätinen <jani-matti.hati...@iki.fi> ---
If you're worried that new users won't be able to switch between HTML and
non-HTML message views (a feature, which no one uses btw) make the HTML status
bar visible by default and add a comment to the configuration page about the
lost functionality if the bar is disabled. Simply forcing the bar on all users
does absolutely nothing to promote said functionality.

99,5% of Kmail users are old users. Quit messing around with their settings.
We've set it up the way we like it, and we know what we've done and why.

This is horrible design, and the offered 'justification' for it is a sad, sad
joke.

At least give us a configuration option we can add to kmail2rc.

[kmail2] [Bug 364967] New: Kmail message list does not remember rightmost column width

2016-07-01 Thread Jani-Matti Hätinen via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364967

Bug ID: 364967
Summary: Kmail message list does not remember rightmost column
width
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.2.1
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: jani-matti.hati...@iki.fi

I've setup the Kmail message list using the two-row with clickable state style
so that there's no horizontal scroll bar. Every time I restart Kmail, it
needlessly expands the rightmost clickable state column and thus causes a
horizontal scroll bar to appear. I have not modified the clickable state style
in any way.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Adjust column widths to your liking
2. Restart Kmail

Actual Results:
Rightmost column is expanded needlessly

Expected Results:
Column widths should remain as set by the user

The root cause is that if you move an e-mail (or any node basically) into a
folder, which already has the same identical e-mail/node, this error pops up.

So instead of doing the only sane thing imaginable (i.e. seeing that that the
e-mails/nodes are identical copies) this piece of shit errors out without even
giving the user an idea where problem is. Whoever wrote this should never touch
a keyboard again.

[Akonadi] [Bug 327483] New: Akonadi server keeps restarting while fetching mail and reading mail

2013-11-12 Thread Jani-Matti Hätinen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327483

Bug ID: 327483
Summary: Akonadi server keeps restarting while fetching mail
and reading mail
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: er...@kde.org
  Reporter: jani-matti.hati...@iki.fi
CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org

In KDE 4.11.2 and 4.11.3 (and akonadi 1.10.2) fetching mail in kmail will cause
the akonadi server to crash and restart time after time. The same thing happens
randomly while reading mail, switching between mail folders, etc. I'm using the
sqlite backend. With KDE 4.10.5 and akonadi 1.9.2 everything is fine.

Any thoughts on how to get reasonable debug output out of akonadi would be most
appreciated. akonadiconsole doesn't show anything special and no crash dialog
ever pops up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start kmail 4.11
2. Start fetching, or reading mail
Actual Results:
The kmail interface repeatedly flashes the message that the akonadi service is
not running and then reloads the mail folders. Actually reading or handling
mail is impossible.

[Bug 266608] New: [Regression] Kmail sends e-mails without sender information even though the used profile has it

2011-02-18 Thread Jani-Matti Hätinen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=266608

Summary: [Regression] Kmail sends e-mails without sender
information even though the used profile has it
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: sending
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: jani-matti.hati...@iki.fi

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS:Linux

Kmail version 2.0.89 sends e-mails with an empty From-header (or with no
From-header at all. Can't tell, because Display All Headers no longer works)
even though all the relevant information is stored in the sender profile used.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Define a profile in Kmail with the normal sender information (name + e-mail
address)
2. Send an e-mail using the profile

Actual Results:
The From-header of the sent e-mail is empty or non-existant

Expected Results:
Kmail should insert the information from the used profile to the From-header

This is, of course, a regression from the last stable version.

OS:Linux

Kmail (version 2.0.89) doesn't show any addresses from Akonadi address books in
the autocomplete list of the e-mail composer window, only the recent addresses
are shown.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Store any e-mail address in an Akonadi address book
2. Try to compose a mail in Kmail
3. Start typing the address just added to the address book

Actual Results:
The entry from the address book is not shown

Expected Results:
The address book entry should appear as an auto-complete suggestion

Seconded. This bug is super annoying.

Also, this is somewhat of a regression from Kmail 1 series, where the message
list was at least focused on the last message selected in the folder. In Kmail
2 the last selected message is not remembered between folder changes.

IMHO a preferable fix would be one, which would implement both things. I.e.
when opening the message list of a mail folder:
 - Scroll to the message that was selected when the user last switched away
from the folder
 - If such a message is not found (no message has ever been selected, or
knowledge of the selected message has disappeared) scroll to show the latest
e-mails in the folder

Also running Kmail 2.0.89 on KDE 4.6.0

[Bug 193662] New: Fancy date display in kmail message list is two days behind

2009-05-22 Thread Jani-Matti Hätinen

Summary: Fancy date display in kmail message list is two days
behind
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: jani-matti.hati...@iki.fi

Version:(using KDE 4.2.3)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

The fancy date format in the kmail message list is two days behind. For example
right now messages sent and received on wednesday 20.05.2009 before 19:30 are
shown as today. Messages received after that until the true current time (19:30
on friday 22.05.2009) are shown with normal dates.

The fancy date format in the message preview pane works as expected.

I generally use the Fancy display mode with clickable status, but this problem
seems to affect all the display modes.

For me personally both kmail-1.9.10 (which ships with KDE-3.5.10) and
kmail-1.10.92 (an SVN trunk checkout from 2008.12.09) don't exhibit this
problem, so I'm cool. (Others may disagree, but I'd urge them to test with the
latest SVN version, or at least with kmail-1.9.10 or KDE-4.2 once it's
released, so we can close bugs like this)

BTW, for the record, I use gmail with roughly 1,7GB of mail since early 2005 in
two different accounts, one of them comprising 19 extra folders (in addition to
the 8 default gmail folders)
