[kmail2] [Bug 473391] Having a special / non-ASCII character in your e-mail address fails to fill in the From field (also when answering calendar invites)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473391 --- Comment #1 from Matija Šuklje --- When interacting with a calendar invite in KMail I get the following error: 5.1.7 Bad sender address syntax Looking at the Outbox, this is the address it tries to send from – so clearly an issue with encoding (change “ [at] ” for “@”, of course): If I switch the default Identity back to it works fine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 473391] New: Having a special / non-ASCII character in your e-mail address fails to fill in the From field (also when answering calendar invites)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473391 Bug ID: 473391 Summary: Having a special / non-ASCII character in your e-mail address fails to fill in the From field (also when answering calendar invites) Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: 5.23.3 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: composer Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: mat...@suklje.name Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY By default I (am forced to) use as my primary e-mail address , which translates to . Since I changed my primary Identity in KMail to that, it stopped populating the From field when I’m writing e-mail in KMail. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. set your primary Identity to have an e-mail address with a non-ASCII character (e.g. š) 2. write an e-mail – either new or as a reply OBSERVED RESULT Notice that the From field is empty, even though the right default Identity is automatically selected. EXPECTED RESULT Have the From field populate as expected. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.108.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This is quite annoying because for every single e-mail I send, I now need to manually select the Identity. In addition, I noticed that answering to calendar invitations through KMail started throwing errors that it cannot send the e-mail, which I suspect is connected to the issue with the From field being empty. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Akonadi] [Bug 452588] New: Adding a iCal file as resource ends up in a duplicated entry in KOrganizer, Zanshin and Akonadi Console
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452588 Bug ID: 452588 Summary: Adding a iCal file as resource ends up in a duplicated entry in KOrganizer, Zanshin and Akonadi Console Product: Akonadi Version: 5.19.3 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: ICal file resource Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: mat...@suklje.name Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY On a fresh new user I added (an existing) todo.ics as an a iCal file resource and after doing so, in Zanshin, KOrganizer and Akonadi Console I see the resource duplicated – once with its proper name (e.g. `ToDo`) and once with its internal name (e.g. `akonadi_ical_resource_3`). Only one of the two includes any events though. Potentially related: MySQL also spent 100% CPU for a long long time (see below). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. have an existing iCal file with todos on hand 2. add that file as iCal File Resource – does not matter whether through Zanshin or KOrganizer OBSERVED RESULT - the todo list shows as an appropriately named (e.g. `ToDo`) and working resource in Zanshin, KOrganizer, Akonadi Console - but it _also_ shows as a wrongly named (e.g. `akonadi_ical_resource_3`) and empty resource in Zanshin, Korganizer, Akonadi Console - during this process I noticed Akonadi being unavailable for quite some time and also MySQL using up 100% CPU for a long long time (see below) before Akonadi started working again – perhaps related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384309 EXPECTED RESULT See only the properly named resource. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: yes (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I’m attaching a fuller log of how it happened this time (IRC log from #akonadi): I’m having issues with Akonadi again. In order to more properly fix some mess-up, I decided this time to create a new user and start from scratch. This will be a bit (but not super) long, I apologise in advance. 1) I renamed the old user to `backup_hook` (with `usermod --login`) and also its home to `/home/backup_hook`. Previously the above user was `hook` and its home appropriately `/home/hook`. 2) I created a new user `hook` with a fresh, empty `/home/hook`. 3) I logged into Plasma as this new `hook`, with a fresh new Plasma set of defaults :) 4) I stared KMail and entered the credentials to my default e-mail account (quite a few e-mails there) through IMAP, I let them all download. 5) I started KOrganizer and entered my Nextcloud servers’s credentials --- so far so good --- 6) I started Zanshin and added my todo.ics --- for some reason, none of the todos seem to have showed up – and there’s _a lot_ of them --- 7) While the things were syncing, I started moving some folders from /home/backup_hook to /home/hook – documents, etc., (no settings). --- at this point my laptop froze and after 15' I hard-rebooted it --- 8) When I logged into Plasma again, I got greeted by Zanshin not working and Akonadi claiming it’s not registered at D-Bus and agents are missing 9) just as I was writing point 8) the Akonadi Migrator popped up and things started working again. Oddly enough I can see my todo.ics twice in Zanshin and twice in Akonadi Console – as “Todo” and as “akonadi_agent_ical_2” (or something like that) 10) Once the Akonadi Migrator was done, I restarted the Akonadi server. --- now it does *not* work again --- --- but I have mysqld hammering my CPU --- At point 8) this is the report I got: https://thatfunkyplace.wheremymonkeyis.at/s/QeFFTWxBm6AoJpL (for a later report, I’m still waiting for the button in Akonadi Console or Zanshin to actually pop up something) --- now MySQL stopped churning and Akonadi works again --- 11) KMail seems to work OK, but both Korganizer and Zanshin show empty – no entries, even no resources listed at all. Which is doubly-odd because the resources are clearly listed in their respective settings dialogues as well as in Akonadi Console. --- …and MySQL is churning 100% CPU again. --- 12) After MySQL stopped eating all the CPU, I can see some resources and entries in KOrganizer and Zanshin again – oddly enough, the todo.ics _again_ shows twice: as ”TODO” and as “akonadi_ical_resource_2” --- next day --- Hm, I don’t like this one bit …I just noticed that after all that MySQL churning, the vast majority of the messages in KMail show as empty. Especially anything older than 8 months. …what I like _even less_ is that this seems to have now replicated to the server-side as well. so even in RoundCube I see those messages empty. This issue in irreversible and spreads also to the server. This is a grave issue, since data – whole messages – are lost. Only the headers remain. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. make sure you have “download messages for offline use” enabled for the IMAP resourse 2. the e-mail sync – cannot predict or tell what triggers the issue with the sync TBH 3. eventually notice some e-mail is missing their bodies OBSERVED RESULT Many e-mails are missing their message body parts, but the headers seem intact. The issue propagates to the servers (probably in the next sync), so now _everywhere_ these e-mails are lacking message bodies. [kontact] [Bug 327282] Google calendar/ical event gets doubled, i.e. added twice - event visible with no calendar displayed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327282 Matija Šuklje changed: What|Removed |Added CC||mat...@suklje.name --- Comment #7 from Matija Šuklje --- I can confirm that this is still an issue in KOrganizer 5.7.3. Furthermore, it seems it does not depend on the KDE user having a Google Calendar. I have two laptops: • work laptop – where we pay for Google apps, including Google Calendar and use that • private laptop – where I do not have a Google account, but my primary calendars are on my own Nextcloud (i.e. SabreDAV) CalDAV I have been told that in both cases if I click on “approve” in the invite as described herein, I cause a duplicate entry either in my own Google Calendar and/or other participants’ calendars. If memory serves me right, it is worse on work laptop, than on my private one. On my private laptop, I think all that happens is that the original creator receives a duplicate event, but I don’t (and I think other participants neither). On my work laptop, I think everyone (who already accepted the original invite?) receives a duplicate, including me. In order to fix this bug, I am prepared to be a test bunny for finding what exactly causes this bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

For starters, now the biggest calendar I have instead > of containing 1016 items, only contains 202 items. This workaround seems to have deleted the items on my ownCloud as well now, so I only have ~200 items instead of ~1000 in it. I suspect that this part is due to the 3 month issue. [Akonadi] [Bug 351628] New: Akonadi DAV Resource does not sync all calendars on ownCloud any more
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351628 Bug ID: 351628 Summary: Akonadi DAV Resource does not sync all calendars on ownCloud any more Product: Akonadi Version: 1.13.0 Platform: Mageia RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: DAV Resource Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: mat...@suklje.name What happens is that every now and again, one or several of the calendars (and/or contacts) resources on ownCloud stop syncing with Akonadi. Since the sync works fine with my Jolla phone, I suspect the issue is on KDE’s side. How this looks in practice is that suddenly and without warning items from some calendars are missing in KOrganizer, Zanshin, EventList and even Akonadi Console. What I already tried to do, that before worked, but since the latest update doesn’t: • in Akonadi Console: toggle offline; abort activity; restart resource; toggle online • in Akonadi Console: restart Akonadi server • in Akonadi Console: clone the WebDAV resource and remove the old one • in Akonadi Console: just remove the old one and create a new one manually • restarting KDE/X • restarting the computer (yes, I’m getting desperate!) • created a fresh new user on my laptop with a clean new home and added my ownCloud as a new CalDAV resource • export the iCal file from ownCloud and reimport it to ownCloud, so I have a duplicate (funnily enough if I open that iCal file in KOrganizer it works) …all to no avail. The events don’t show in the Akonadi Console. The current state that I can see in Akonadi Console ↦ Browser is that: • Contacts shows 673 entries (seems correct) • “Dogodki” calendar shows 17 entries (seems correct) • “Faks” calendar shows no entries and 0 size (**FALSE**) • “FSFE” calendar shows 579 entries (seems correct) • “Osebno” calendar shows no entries and 0 size (**FALSE!**) • Rojstni dan/Birthdays show 14 entries The only thing that I can think of as special for the two non-syncing calendars is that I renamed them at some point (Študij ⇒ Faks; Opravki ⇒ Osebno) and in the backend they are still called the old name. But this was long long before this bug happened and it works fine with the Jolla Sailfish calendar app. My setup: Mageia 5 (stable); x86_64 Akonadi 1.13.0-4 KDE: 4.14.5 KOrganizer: 4.14.5-1 ownCloud: 8.0.4 I suspect this could be related to: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328734 Confirmed at Akademy, when dvratil (will add to CC) looked at my laptop and tried to figure out what’s the cause. [kmail2] [Bug 339091] New: Make snippets panel in KMail able to hide
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339091 Bug ID: 339091 Summary: Make snippets panel in KMail able to hide Product: kmail2 Version: 4.11.5 Platform: Mandriva RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: composer Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: mat...@suklje.name Currently the snippets panel in KMail is either completely there and consuming a massive amount of horizontal space or turned off completely. This is both a waste of space and the additional text (list of snippets) in the composer is distracting from writing a mail. I propose that the snippets panel would be made as one of those vertical-tab-operated panels that you can pull out or close (e.g. in Kate, KDevelop). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable snippets. 2. Add a few snippets. 3. Resize the snippets panel to be readable. 4. See actual results 1. 5. Resize the snippets panel so the actual e-mail composer part of the window is useful. 6. See actual resuts 2. Actual Results: 1. Be amazed at how much horizontal space it consumes. 2. Be frustrated at how you have to chose between a usable composer or a usable snippets, for a normal sized font and a reasonable e-mail composer window. Expected Results: 1. Happily write your e-mail. 2. Pull out the snippets panel when needed. 3. Use the snippet. 4. Close the snippets panel. 5. Enjoy ☺ I would call this a usability bug, but am just too nice to do so :P -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Oddly enough it doesn’t happen to me with Baïkal, which is just as ownCloud (using SabreDAV 1.6.4) a SabreDAV-based (1.8.0, so newer) CalDAV and CardDAV server. I don’t know if it’s related, but I did notice (due to some other bug I found) that in both WebDAV instances I tried, Akonadi at some point wrongly changes todo items’ mimetypes to application/x-vnd.akonadi.calendar.event. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Akonadi] [Bug 313670] New: DAV Akonadi resource falsely changes the mimetype of the todos to events
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=313670 Bug ID: 313670 Summary: DAV Akonadi resource falsely changes the mimetype of the todos to events Classification: Unclassified Product: Akonadi Version: 4.9 Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: DAV Resource Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: mat...@suklje.name Akonadi’s DAV resource at some point in time — usually after a few days, but it never fails me — changes the mimetypes of all items in the resource to application/x-vnd.akonadi.calendar.event, regardless whether it’s raw output is VTODO or VEVENT. This happens regardless of whether a certain calendar in the resource includes only VTODO, only VEVENT or both. If I add new todo’s, until the next recurrence their mimetype stays as application/x-vnd.akonadi.calendar.todo. This is quite annoying for me because Zanshin only shows application/x-vnd.akonadi.calendar.todo and not .event — meaning that I’m left with empty todo lists. As KOrganizer and EventList do not do such filtering, they show todos as well. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a calendar with that includes VTODO’s on a CalDAV resource; 2. Add the CalDAL resource to Akonadi; 3. Wait for a few days; 4. Check Zanshin and/or Akonadi Console. Actual Results: - in Zanshin you see empty calendars; - in Akonadi Console’s browser you can see that all the items were changed to application/x-vnd.akonadi.calendar.event regardless whether their raw output says it’s VTODO or VEVENT; - in KOrganizer and EventList plasmoid you see VTODO’s as well. Expected Results: - *keep* the mimetypes correctly — i.e. .event for VEVENT and .todo for VTODO Workaround: - in Akonadi Console remove DAV resource - in Akonadi Console re-add the same DAV resource (works also by simply cloning it) Because a freshly (re)added resource fixes it, I’m suspecting it’s Akonadi that messes things up. Local iCal files and Kolab work just, fine, so I suspect it’s only the Akonadi DAV resource. I heard that this used to happened also with the Google resource, if it’s maybe related. Versions: KDE 4.9.3 Zanshin 0.2.1 Akonadi backend: MySQL ownCloud: 4.5.5 (same issue with older versions), uses SabreDAV 1.6.4 Baïkal: 0.2.4, uses SabreDAV 1.8.0 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Managed to replicate it as well by running just Kontact and: 1) edited some titles of ToDos; 2) changed the category of some ToDos; 3) deleted two ToDos; *** Kontact starts eating up 100% CPU now *** 4) waited for 10 minutes or so; 5) killed Kontact with SIGSEGV to get a backtrace Note: in the first example I edited only the Kolab resource and in the second example only a local resource. Also in the second example I didn't look when the resource list got garbled. So, it seems it's not a Zanshin(-only) thing, but could be a lower level problem.
