Oha, it works in  KMail 4.14.10 for me...

My experience says that some importan't features or bugs kde team simply
ignore, 
Using kontact or Kmail accross many computers seems to be not realy important.
I try to vote for it.

Many reason to fix it in other way.
Everybody how try to use kontact, kmain, akondi with broken imap (like courier)
and don't find this tread, will think kmail (kontact) is broken and buggy
software. Note that kontact is a important part of KDE.

Thats a reputation of KDE depends also on this small komponent.

Currently i migrated from courier to dovecot (seems to work) but
this is also defenetly massive an akonadi/kmail bug because.

No external service like courier-imap should produce so massive problems by
working with Kontact (Suite). After some minutes akonadi  stop to work and
makes kontact including calendar/todos unusable and need to be restarted like
killall -9 kontact; akonadictl stop; akonadictl start.
KMail (akonadi_imap) should don't influence other services.

Status: RESOLVED FIXED is not correct.

Nothing is fixed, I have here 4.14.10-2 and akonadi-server 1.13.0-8

every time and i have this probleme more or less progressive about one year.
Currently I think to drop kontact from my system and migrate to
thunderbirth
Kontact is Unusable, this issue is so important and kde-team don't take care to
fix it.
