Hi.

Have just upgraded to 6.1.0(24.05.0) and seems (but just from a short simple
test) that everything works fine.

If this persists, I'll close the bug in a few days.

Bug ID: 487468
Summary: Patch for calendar - Philippines holidays 2024
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kholidays
   Version: 6.2.0
  Platform: unspecified

Status: REPORTED

Proposed holidays file for Philippines 2024

Frameworks currently lacks a holidays file for Philippines.
Attached file contains compiled date from Official Gazette of the Republic of
the Philippines.
Holidays in Philippines are subject to Presidential proclamations, so it needs
to be updated on a yearly basis upon new Presidential proclamations.
It also includes the updated school year dates.
I've attempted to verify the validity of the data with native citizens of the
Philippines.
I've tried to adhere to the format specified in
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kholidays/-/blob/master/holidays/file-format.txt
I'm posting this as a bug report to start a discussion on it before a merge
request can be opened.
Please feel free to point out any shortcomings or misinformation contained in
the attached file.

Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: Kubuntu

account name being user-specified, and ignored in both 'receiving' tab list,
and 'check mail' button pulldown menu

SUMMARY
1. 'Check Mail' button displays meaningless list of account titles to choose
from.
2. 'settings > configure kmail > accounts > receiving' ignores user specified
account names. Probably due to creation by import, but continues to ignore
after being changed. This is reflected in the meaningless list of account
titles in 1) above.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right click 'Check Mail' toolbar button

OBSERVED RESULT
almost all accounts are called POP3 Account, which is utterly useless when
trying to decide which account you want to check.

EXPECTED RESULT
display the 'Account Name'

Notice that QT_SCALE_FACTOR_ROUNDING_POLICY=RoundPreferFloor doesn't solve the
issue. The main issue is that the selected font in the configuration isn't
used. In KMail, if you go to Configuration / Configure KMail / Appearance /
Font and select "Message text", in Plasma 5, you could change the displayed
message font and size. In Plasma 6, you can't, it simply ignored.

The only thing you can change is, in General tab, the minimum size for the font
used

Bug ID: 487029
Summary: kmail uses media type literal packet in OpenPGP
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 6.0.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: theodor-andreas.boer...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When encrypting messages in OpenPGP/MIME format, kmail uses the format tag 'm'
in the literal data packet inside the OpenPGP Message, while in RFC 4880, only
are 'b', 't' and 'u' are defined. Because of that, some MUAs do not display the
decrypted message.
kmail changed from using 'b' to using 'm' between 5.24.5 and 6.0.2.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Compose an encrypted message.
2. Export the message, save it into an imap folder, or send it to another
mailbox.
3. Try to view the message in Mozilla Thunderbird.

OBSERVED RESULT
Thunderbird shows obscure error message.

EXPECTED RESULT
The message should be displayable by Thunderbird (and other MUAs).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Relevant section in RFC 4880:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc4880#section-5.9
Draft for the 'm' format tag:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-moscaritolo-openpgp-literal-01.html
You can use `gpg --list-packets` to find out which format tag was used in an
OpenPGP Message.

[kmail2] [Bug 486773] New: KMail hogs 1 cpu core trying to display a message

2024-05-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486773

Bug ID: 486773
Summary: KMail hogs 1 cpu core trying to display a message
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.22.3
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tnem...@free.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 169308
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169308=edit
Bzip'ed mail causing 100% cpu usage on 1 core.

SUMMARY

A friend of mine sent me a mail because he needed help writing a shell script.
Just displaying his mail in the
message viewer part or message viewer window takes 1 cpu core (100% cpu usage
on that core). Changing
the view to another mail makes the cpu usage go back to normal.

What I found strange is that even though I've often received mails from gmail
(since he's at gmail), I've never
faced such a behavior. I suspect it comes from how the mail is formatted. Maybe
its size (12MB !) but not sure.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the mail in kmail
2. Look at the CPU usage

OBSERVED RESULT
Usage of one of the CPU core is at 100% by kmail.

EXPECTED RESULT
CPU usage should not be at 100% when displaying a mail :)

Found the solution.

Go to Kmail Settings -> Configure KMail -> Appearance -> Message List and
choose a different "Date Display" option.
Mine was set to "Smart format", I switched to Localized and hit "Apply", and I
suddenly saw the date column being populated in the message list. Then, I
clicked back on "Smart format" and applied again, and it worked as expected.

Probably there is some setting being stored differently in the configuration
file, and the "migration" from the past version does not work perfectly. I
wonder how many other similar issues are there...

For clarification: The entries were there before.
I also tried several methods, including "refreshing" the source in the options

Nothing worked, until I removed and re-added the calendar source.

same pacman -Qii | grep command from before:
Name: kmail

Name: kontact
Version : 24.02.2-1

along with Plasma Framework going from 6.0.0 -> 6.1.0, Kmail now does spawn a

SUMMARY
When I add a Google account to Akonadi it syncs properly, calendar events turn
up in KOrganizer and Merkuro calendar as well. Sync can be initiated from
Merkuro or from Akonadi Console. After a while if there is a sync it gets stuck
at 0% forever. Recreating the agent or reconfiguring it (reauth) solves the
issue. My guess is that refreshing the access token is not working. I had the
same issue with 6.0.1 as well.

I have tried clearing up akonadi config and starting from scratch, I have tried
switching backends, tried stopping and restarting akonadi. I also tried to
install latest KDE neon in VirtualBox and set up the same account, it had the
same results (6.0.1).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add a google account
2. confirm it syncs properly in Akonadi Console, manual resync is also possible
with Sync all
3. wait a few hours (6-8) and try to resync, it gets stuck at 0%

OBSERVED RESULT
not Syncing

EXPECTED RESULT
Syncing

[kmail2] [Bug 485268] New: Kmail crash after creating new PGP key

2024-04-09 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485268

Bug ID: 485268
Summary: Kmail crash after creating new PGP key
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@lukesratcliffe.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kmail (5.22.3 (22.12.3))

Qt Version: 5.15.8
Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Operating System: Linux 6.1.0-18-amd64 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
DrKonqi: 5.27.5 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
I created a new PGP key for my email identity and the dropdown did not show the
key after creating, it showed it was still loading - then on attempting to
close the entire dialogue after 2 minutes of waiting, Kmail crashed as a whole.
This appears to be similar to bug 485190 however I find it concerning that
this behaviour is appearing on multiple different distributions (484869)

The crash can be reproduced every time.

It seems a packaging issue. See bug 484869
You're on Qt6.7 (are you using testing?), so it's not a Qt version mismatch as
I suspected initially.
Anyway, recompiling kmail package manually should fix your issue as well. If
so, it will probably resolve after the next kmail arch upgrade.

[kmail2] [Bug 485222] New: KMail Mail Display shows wrong date (just cutoff from the plain header, not regarding timezone information)

2024-04-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485222

Bug ID: 485222
Summary: KMail Mail Display shows wrong date (just cutoff from
the plain header, not regarding timezone information)
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 6.0.1
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: mail+...@branleb.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When displaying an E-Mail with kmail, the date shown (from the Date header) is
shown wrong in the mail header view because the timezone information is just
dropped.

In the Mail List of the folder, the date is shown correctly.

If there is no timezone information displayed, the only valid assumption is
that the information displayed is meant to show something in my systems
localtime because i have no way of asserting the timezone of the sender from
that representation. I will not always know from which timezone a sender sent
their email.
In fact, the only way to know that is inspecting the raw headers which is what
a MUA should be about not doing in the first place. So that information needs
to be shown at least, better would be a rendering in localtime (which is more
intuitive i think to most users) or an option for the use to choose from both
(or both being displayed simultaneously in some way)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have an E-Mail with a Date Header from some Timezone thats not UTC (+ oder -
doenst matter) in your mailbox
2. navigate to said mail
3. select it

OBSERVED RESULT
1. The Folder Mail list will display the correct date in your systems localtime
based on the the timezone information
2. The mail details display will show the local time of the sender (or, to be
specific) of the Date Header) without any Timezone information.

EXPECTED RESULT
Displaying the timezone information should be the minimum. Better would be to
render the time in the local time as the mail list does.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSuse Tumbleweed 20240403 - Kernel 6.8.2-1-vanilla
(64-bit) - X11
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Thread Theme: "Smart" (But same result with "classic")
Header Theme: "Standard-Grantlee" (but same result with "Dekorativer Vorspann"
instead)

Related to Bug #379467 but no duplicate imo as the problem critizised here is
the completely missing timezone information. If the aim is to implement the
(imo bad) "solution" of #379467, please at least display the Timezone of the
sender and show the localtime with a tooltip or something like that

Kind of related to #361441 - at least as I understand the original report of
#361441, but definitively not related to what is discussed afterwards and which
seems to match the bug report title more than the first comment.

nmset, I'm afraid it was a false positive.
I noticed that simply recompiling manually the Arch kmail package, (the very
same package you're executing), the problem disappears. So, it is possible that
arch kmail was compiled with some outdated library (or a library that is still
in testing -- qt 5.7 is the suspect). It happens on Arch, sometimes.
Can you try to simply recompile the package locally?

I don't think it's a kmail specific problem.
If you google for "radeon_bo_reference" you will find some drm related crashes

could be different).
I will consider a possible mesa issue then.

No problem. I should thank you for providing me such a big help for free.

I have two machines. Please note I might have changed some locales from the
last time. I executed

env | grep -e '\(LC_\|LANG\)' && korganizer --version && lsb_release -a &&
qmake --version

on both which returned:
Machine 1:

LANGUAGE=en_GB

LC_PAPER=de_DE.UTF-8

Machine 2:

Description:Debian GNU/Linux trixie/sid
Release:11
Codename: trixie
QMake version 3.1
Using Qt version 5.15.10 in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

The regional settings in kOrganizer are identical. I honestly don't know of any
other special settings that could cause this. Agenda view shows the same error.
Week view too, although it might be interesting when iterating through the
weeks starting from the week 16-22.10.2023 (in this week, the event that should
recur every two weeks starts), the event is correctly shown in the week
16-22.10, then it is incorrectly shown in the week after that (23-29.10) then
it alternates every 2 weeks, but on the weeks 18-24.03.2024 and 25-31.03.2024
it is again incorrectly absent for 2 weeks in a row.

So, I find it quiet interesting that Week View shows the event in the week
23-29.10 while month view does not show it there.

I attached the small calender view in the latest attachment. It shows the 04.11
bold correctly in October, but not bold in November

I played a little more with gdb and discovered the following.

The infinite loop happens in QTextDocumentLayoutPrivate::layoutBlock, in the
"while (1)" block at line 3477:
https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qtbase.git/tree/src/gui/text/qtextdocumentlayout.cpp?h=6.6.2

Here, tl->createLine is called.
>From QTextLayout::createLine, on lines 802/803,
https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qtbase.git/tree/src/gui/text/qtextlayout.cpp?h=6.6.2
I can see that the "from" field is always 0. So, the incoming text is never
consumed, and an endless number of 0-length QTextLines are produced. This is
where all the memory is consumed.

With the help of gdb, I dumped the problematic html payload which is passed to
QTextEdit::setHtml (it is the "reply" formatted html string prepared by kmail
in response to the mail we're replying to) and created a test program
populating a QTextLine with the same payload. The program worked correctly, so
I don't really understand what is going on here. Maybe some layout settings
from kmail are not handled correctly by Qt 6 code, who knows.

A dev eye would be really appreciated at this point. At a first glance what
kmail is doing seems correct to me.

Issue is also present after a clean install.

Replying as plaintext works, so it is related to html.

If any dev wants to have a look, I can provide a simple test mail privately.

I have the same problem on KDE Neon 6.0.2. Some applications which can be
minimized into the system tray work as expected (Strawberry, Ferdium, Krusader,
QBitTorrent) but some when are minimized cannot be toggled back on screen
(Kontact, Neochat). The only way to show the window is to run them again with
KRunner or from launcher.

[korganizer] [Bug 483504] New: holiday display doesn't update after picking holidays

2024-03-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483504

Bug ID: 483504
Summary: holiday display doesn't update after picking holidays
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: otherviews
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: t...@adminart.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The holiday display doesn't update after picking holidays. You need to restart
korganizer for the holidays to show up in the day view.

(Why is there no component for dayview?)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start korgnizer (for the first time)
2. pick holidays for some country (or two countries) in the settings
3. apply the settings and close them by clicking on ok
4. click on a day that is a holiday in the month view

OBSERVED RESULT
No holidays are showing up in the dayview. (They do show up in the tooltip of
the month view when hovering the mouse pointer over the day; but who would
notice.)

EXPECTED RESULT
The holidays should show up in the day view when that day is a holiday once
they have been picked without needing to restart korganizer.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 39
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0
Qt Version: 5.15.12
Kernel Version: 6.7.7-200.fc39.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 16 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2637 v4 @ 3.50GHz
Memory: 125.6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: Precision Rack 7910

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
You can also unpick all holidays in the settings and the dayview doesn't get
updated, either. The tooltip is being updated in that no holidays are shown.
So every time you pick or unpick holidays, you need to restart korganizer for
the dayview to correspond with the tooltip.

Please consider https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483502 : with changing the
holidays that were picked, colours in the month view would need to be updated
accordingly.

Bug ID: 483502
Summary: colours are bad for retired people
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: monthview
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: t...@adminart.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When you're retired and thus have configured no workdays since you don't work,
all the days in the month view are shown in red with no good way to change
that.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. uncheck all days so no days are configured as work days
2. look at the month view
3. try to configure a spefic colour for non-workdays

OBSERVED RESULT
All the days in every month are shown in red as if they were suddenly
dangerous. They also seem to be bold which doesn't exactly improve
readability. There doesn't seem to be a way in the settings to change this.

EXPECTED RESULT
Use a more harmless colour as default and allow to customize colour and font
(boldness) for non-workdays.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 39
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0
Qt Version: 5.15.12
Kernel Version: 6.7.7-200.fc39.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 16 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2637 v4 @ 3.50GHz
Memory: 125.6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: Precision Rack 7910

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Oh! I just found out by chance that the holiday colour is being used for the
non-workdays. That means that normal days (i. e. non-workdays) can not be
distinguished from holidays. Of course I do want to use a different colour for
holidays than the one for non-workdays. Even when one doesn't work on a day
that doesn't mean that that day is a holiday. Obviously, that doesn't only go
for retired people but for everyone who doesn't work every day.

This also as has an effect on weekends. Weekends need their own colour because
some people are working on weekends, and not all weekends are holidays, either.
And normal days (i. e. non-workdays) should be distinguished from weekends, so
that requires yet another colour for weekends (which mostly aren't holidays).

Once we have enough colours for the types of days, we'll need to be able to set
priorities for the colours of the days. For example, I would prefer holidays
always shown in holiday colour even when they are weekends while other users
may prefer to keep showing them in weekend colour, etc. ...

html is probably involved, but I have some html emails that don't show this
problem when replying to.

I attached the screenshots. Additionally executing

env | grep -e '\(LC_\|LANG\)'

yields

LANGUAGE=en_GB
LC_ADDRESS=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NAME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MONETARY=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_PAPER=de_DE.UTF-8
LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TIME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC=de_DE.UTF-8

Please note the mixed German and English settings. An interesting question
would be, if pi...@gmx.de has similar locale settings.
