[Kernel-packages] [Bug 455942] Re: WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/net/mac80211/scan.c:281 ieee80211_scan_completed+0xf1/0x470 [mac80211]()

2013-12-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
SlingshotSuicide, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily
folder, but the one at the top) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1194761] Re: Camera - Microdia [0c45:648d] rev 1c.07, unable to take still pictures with camera_test (fswebcam)

2013-12-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Po-Hsu Lin, thank you for the consolidated focus of this report. One thing that
is of interest is , as per
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-14r-se-7420 an
update is available for your BIOS (A19). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Camera - Microdia [0c45:648d] rev 1c.07, unable to take still
  pictures with camera_test (fswebcam)

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  CID: 201203-10664 Dell Inspiron 7420

On this system, the camera_test script is able to display video capture form
the built-in camera. But it's unable to display a still image and multiple
resolution images, the file size of temporarily stored file is zero. Causing
the image viewer complain about "Could not load image" (screenshot attached) Or
"Failed to validate image" for multiple resolution images test case. I tried to
get more information from the script by adding "-v" to fswebcam command like
this:
def _still_helper(self, filename, width, height, quiet, pixelformat=None):
  """
Captures an image to a given filename. width and height specify the
image size and quiet controls whether the image is displayed to the
user (quiet = True means do not display image).
  """
  command = ["fswebcam -v", "-S 3", "--no-banner",
     "-d", self.args.device,

I didn't get any extra information, but both the "still" and
"resolutions" test cases work fine with this.

  201202-10404 Inspiron 5720 - 12.04.2 Precise (3.2.0-48) : Same issue, "-v"
tweak works too.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1261753] [NEW] Laptop often suspends once immediately after resume

2013-12-17 Thread Owen Williams
Public bug reported:

I am seeing this behavior:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1243647 and was
told to file a separate bug. It takes 10-15 seconds for the second
suspend to trigger. I can tell I'm going to get a double-suspend when
the network doesn't come up after resume. I have tried the nmcli nm
sleep false trick.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1194761] Re: Camera - Microdia [0c45:648d] rev 1c.07, unable to take still pictures with camera_test (fswebcam)

2013-12-17 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

  """
  command = ["fswebcam -v", "-S 3", "--no-banner",
     "-d", self.args.device,

- I didn't get any extra imformation, but both the "still" and
+ I didn't get any extra information, but both the "still" and
"resolutions" test cases work fine with this.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1243647] Re: [Asus 1005HA] Resuming from suspend mode : suspend loop

2013-12-17 Thread Owen Williams
Thanks for the information, I'll file a new bug. From your instructions
I couldn't figure out which folder to get a kernel from. I don't
understand "the one all the way on the bottom," since the daily folder
appears on the bottom for me.

[Asus 1005HA] Resuming from suspend mode : suspend loop

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Using 13.10 on my laptop (Asus EeePC 1005HA), the system goes into
suspend mode when I close the lid. When opening the lid and pressing a
key, the system wakes up and asks me for my password. This is the
  expected behavior.

However, if the laptop is running on battery, the system will go back
into suspend mode, within a few seconds ; it will do so each and every
time I wake it up subsequently.

If I connect the laptop to its PSU, it is acting as expected when
  resuming from suspend mode.

I did not experience any such problem with 13.04.

Title:
8086:4236 [Lenovo ThinkPad X200] Slow WiFi with Intel 5300 on N
  networks

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I use Ubuntu 13.10 on a Thinkpad X200 (Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300
  WLAN).

What I expect to happen (what happened before):
  - Connect to N network
  - Do a speedest.net
  - get ~32Mbps

  What actually happens:
  - With N network I get ~1Mbps
  - Disabled wifi / speedtest via ethernet ~32Mbps / restarted modem and router
anyway, same results

  What I do instead:
  - I change my router settings to BG-mixed (for the same network)
  - then I get ~8Mbps

Now, I was offered a few updates earlier today and didn't really look
at what was updated. However, this behaviour is new, it didn't happen
before and I think it might be due to some update regression.

Title:
  Keyboard stuck with irqbalance

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: irqbalance

Shortly after logging in to the system it stops responding to keyboard
and mouse (not even SysRq works). The clock is still being updated and
I can access the system through SSH.

Sometimes I'm able to start a terminal window with the mouse. When I
then press one single key that character is repeated indefinitely in
the terminal window. At the same time the mouse stops responding.

When I disable irqbalance everything works fine. I haven't seen
anything odd in the logs (or dmesg) and I don't know how to
  investigate this further.

The system is a P4 with HT so irqbalance might not be useful anyway,
but it shouldn't hang the system.

this be reproducible with it?

Hello,

Since 3.11.0-14-generic I havn't been able to reproduce the problem. It
seems like the bug has been resolved.

Thanks!

Title:
8086:4236 [Lenovo ThinkPad X200] Slow WiFi with Intel 5300 on N
  networks

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Issue: On S3 resume screen is blank. I've tracked this down to 2
patches:

1. 24576d23976746cb52e7700c4cadbf4bc1bc3472

drm/i915: enable VT switchless resume v3

This commit stops the screen from turning back on. Without the patch the
screen resumes back to on, however it is filled with random vertical lines.

2. fa55583797d12b10928a1813f3dcf066637caf5e

drm/i915: fixup the plane->pipe fixup code

I have to manually revert this. If I don't I get the random vertical
lines on resume.

Start off with a drm.debug=6 dmesg just so we can get a feel for the
hardware and what is going on. If you revert the switchless resume
patch, then grab intel_reg_dumper output before and after resume, that
will highlight what the bios touched. In fact, if you grab
intel_reg_dumper after resume with each patch reverted (none, only
switchless patch reverted, both patches reverted) that is likely to have
sufficient information to figure out both bugs.

bug.

  Keyboard stuck with irqbalance

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1251065] Re: HP Mini 1000 fails to resume from suspend

2013-12-17 Thread Colin King
I've tracked this down to 2 patches that trigger this issue:

1. 24576d23976746cb52e7700c4cadbf4bc1bc3472

drm/i915: enable VT switchless resume v3

This commit stops the screen from turning back on. Without the patch the
screen resumes back to on, however it is filled with random vertical lines.

2. fa55583797d12b10928a1813f3dcf066637caf5e

drm/i915: fixup the plane->pipe fixup code

I have to manually revert this. If I don't I get the random vertical
lines on resume.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 896922] Re: Lenovo L520 - "psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync" and stops working for seconds

2013-12-17 Thread Vipin
All,
I'm facing the same problem since yesterday. The trackpoint (I don't use
touchpad) just freezes on my Thinkpad T420 running 12.04 and
3.2.0-57-generic-pae kernel.
After reading the entire thread, I also tried Gero's suggestion but it didn't
work for me.
For the first time (when trackpoint froze yesterday) i got the similar errors
in dmesg and syslog like:
Dec 17 13:51:55 vipin-thinkpad-t420 kernel: [13612.139398] psmouse serio1:
TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
But today, the trackpoint froze for 3-4 times and such errors are not seen in
logs.
I also noticed that this happens when I'm typing and want to use trackpoint
immediately after that.
Strangely, I'm using this laptop (with same OS) since last 1+ year, this
problem started to happen since yesterday only. And now it is happening
everytime in only 5-10 mins after reboot.
Just wanted to give an update on my problem, so anyone working on this problem
currently?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1261668] [NEW] Intel 7260 firmware causes crashes, needs updating

2013-12-17 Thread Mike Heald
Public bug reported:

The firmware we currently ship for the intel 7260 wireless card is
buggy, and causing frequent crashes.

See http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg114861.html

There is updated firmware available, see http://marc.info/?l=linux-
wireless&m=138718659005765&w=2

We should get this updated, as this is becoming a very popular wireless
card (System76 are shipping it in their systems) and it's a pain having
to reboot every time it crashes...

2013-12-17 Thread Stefan Bader
I set the saucy confirmation to done because a real verification is hard
there. ISO images are usually not re-created after release and even less
likely with a kernel still in proposed. So I just checked that the deb
packages for 3.11.0-15.23 contain no ohci-pci module and the contained
config has "CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD_PCI".
