That workaround (comment #14) does NOT work for me. It successfully returns FRAMEBUFFER=y in the terminal but doesn't actually correct the problem. I am seeing this message 100% of the time on boot, however in my case it is a little differentI am running a dual monitor setup and on my primary monitor I see the expected LightDM login screen. I used to see the exact same screen on my external secondary monitor as well up until a recent slew of updates. Now on my secondary screen it just shows a purple background with this cfg80211 etc text on it Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160322 Title: [ 21.125934] INFO @wl_cfg80211_attach : Registered CFG80211 phy Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: message in console the start Ubuntu: [ 21.125934] INFO @wl_cfg80211_attach : Registered CFG80211 phy ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: linux-image-3.8.0-14-generic 3.8.0-14.24 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-14.24-generic 3.8.4 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-14-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: caravena 2148 F pulseaudio Date: Tue Mar 26 08:41:12 2013 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=935761c6-0879-49ed-b5a5-c5218c97b843 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-02-06 (47 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail - Alpha amd64 (20121126) Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 046d:0896 Logitech, Inc. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372609] Re: Touchpad detected as mouse on Asus ux303ln laptop
I am in the process of reverse engineering the protocol. I have executed the Windows 8.1 driver in a VM and have written a short program which puts the touchpad into the proprietary mode. The code can be found here: https://github.com/mgottschlag/focaltech-tools If anybody wants to join me, before a proper driver can be written, the next step is to decipher the report packet stream - so if anybody wants to run the program on their machine and try to find out some information about the packet format, go ahead. I am going to collect my findings in the github wiki at the link above. Example output (from a single finger moving to the left): reset, device id = 00 status: 69 80 80 status: 36 53 03 status: 00 13 0d status: 0b 03 00 status: 23 bd f8 (the interesting part starts here) packet: 03 01 00 00 00 00 packet: 06 17 ce 03 b8 10 packet: 06 17 ce 03 b8 10 packet: 06 17 ce 03 b8 10 packet: 06 17 cc 03 b8 20 [...] packet: 06 15 a4 03 d4 20 packet: 06 15 9a 03 d4 20 packet: 06 15 8d 03 d4 10 packet: 06 15 76 03 d2 10 packet: 03 00 00 00 00 00 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1372609 Title: Touchpad detected as mouse on Asus ux303ln laptop Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi! First of all, thanks a lot for the effort to give us a solution to this problem! I'd like to verify that it works on my UX303LN. I went ahead and compiled the code and tried echoing in serio_raw into one of the /sys/bus/serio/devices/serio*/drvctl, but got stuck on the following: $ sudo ./init /sys/bus/serio/devices/serio1/ Could not open /sys/bus/serio/devices/serio1/. Try sudo ./init /dev/serio_raw0. I'll add a comment about that in the usage section. That device file should be created if you switch a device to serio_raw (serio4 here!). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1265198] Re: [ASUS ZENBOOK Touch UX31A] Bluetooth mouse problems after 13.10. update
I can confirm the bug for 14.04 and 14.10, running the current, updated beta on my Zenbook UX32VD: After booting up the computer the bluetooth applet is not able to turn on bluetooth again (the slider slides, for an instance of a second my paired devices show up, and then the slider is on OFF again) When running the command rfkill unblock all (im in the bluetooth group) the bluetooth applet displays bluetooth being on and Im able to use my BT devices. The error is the same when - closing and then opening the lid - Turning BT off using the applet @Bachi: You can add 'rfkill unblock all' in /etc/rc.local before the 'exit 0' line. serio4 was indeed the device for which the program worked. All five fingers are registered and give plenty of output. I actually went back to v3.12.30-trusty -- the most recent in the 3.12 line, because I remembered that 14.04, when the problems started, installed v3.13.something. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1380444] Re: xhci locks up computer with NULL pointer dereference trying to wake up external USB3 disk
The initial crash appears to be a UAS issue. Disabling UAS for this particular device with this in the file /etc/modprobe.d/usb-storage.conf stops the initial uas error and the resulting kernel crash: options usb-storage quirks=1058:1230:u Instead, the drive wakes up as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1380444 Title: xhci locks up computer with NULL pointer dereference trying to wake up external USB3 disk Status in The Linux Kernel: Unknown Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: In Ubuntu 14.10, my laptop locks up completely when trying to wake my WD 1230 USB3 external hard drive from its default 10-minute standby. The system tries to wake up the drive, which is unsuccessful, and after a few seconds uas_eh_abort_handler gets called. Shortly after this the NULL pointer dereference occurs in xhci_alloc_streams or xhci_check_streams_endpoint (most times the NULL pointer dereference error doesn't even get persisted to disk, so there may be other points where it occurs). Not long after this the laptop locks up completely and both it and the hard drive have to be power-cycled. I can put the drive manually into and out of standby using hdparm, so I guess there are two problems: one which makes the drive crash (ie it must crash because it needs to be power cycled) and the other being the NULL pointer dereference and complete kernel lockup. The last good kernel was 3.15-rc4. All kernels since since have this problem, including the latest upstream kernel. Note that just blacklisting the uas module (blacklist uas in a conf file in /etc/modprobe.d) stops the drive from ever mounting, even though the usb subsystem sees it being attached. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? I'm so sure that it is a bug of the kernel because if I restart my computer with the older kernel version(3.2.0-63) the port work's perfectly well. Anyway my system recognizes that the port exists and if I connect something to the port the command lususb recognizes it, but still not working. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1331150] Re: arp fails to update, 3.13.0-{24, 29}
[Expired for linux (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1331150 Title: arp fails to update, 3.13.0-{24,29} Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: in an AWS environment managed by BOSH, we saw tcp connectivity problems between pairs of VMs. VM A and VM B are up, running ubuntu 14.04-based images, and in the same vpc subnet. VM B is terminated, and another VM is created that uses the IP address from VM B The new VM tries to make a tcp connection to VM A. In some cases, the connection fails. Investigation reveals that VM A has the old MAC address in its neighbor list. In some cases, running arp -d IP Address on VM A fixes the problem. Also in some cases, running arping in gratuitous arp mode on the new VM also fixes the problem. The problem does not occur if VM A is running an ubuntu 10.04-based image. The problem seems to occur only on machines with lots of tcp connection traffic between them. 'arp -d' and arping on the new VM do not seem to fix the problem if there are processes on the VMs that are trying to create new TCP connections.
