Title:
  Bluetooth audio quality bad

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Listening to music using a2dp compatible bt headphones, the audio is
bad. Let me explain. If I plug in a pare of headphones with a 3.5 mm
stereo plug and compare it to the bluetooth audio, I cannot tell the
difference in most devices. I know that a2dp is done with lossy
compression, so in theory the audio quality suffers. However, the
difference is minimal, something that you can either barely notice, or
at times other links in the audio-to-ear chain are way worse masking
the quality difference from compression. I have tested this on
Android, Debian, Ubuntu etc. and I have to admit that most of the time
there appears to be no difference to me.

However, on Ubuntu touch (arale OTA-14) there is a difference that any
one can notice immediately. The bluetooth audio is really poor, sounds
as if it were distoreted and compressed or sample rate lowered or
something. Not poor enough to make it unusable but poor enough that
  you notice it right away.

I have no idea what package is causing this, but I suspect that it has
something to do with either audio mixer or bluetooth. But everything
seems to be OK. AFAIK the audio settings are as I would expect.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1620636] Re: Fails to pair with Bose QC35 headphones

2017-01-01 Thread Konrad Zapałowicz
@Alexis,

I would like to ask you to register the Sony bug as a new one as this
will allow us to track it more efficiently.

As for the logs, try sending us syslog with debugging enabled.
Instructions on how to capture it are here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingBluetooth

Also, could you share which Ubuntu version are you using?

Thanks!

proposed build for Turbo #174. I'm trying to pair through the normal
bluetooth control panel brought up through the bluetooth indicator.

I've attached some logs that show it failing to pair. If I can provide

  Hi,

  I found a bug in Ubuntu 14.04 !

I tried to pair a bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP compatible). The
pairing process goes well, but after that I can't select it on the
  audio preferences.

When I select it, it only shows the last selected item options and don't do
anything. (he should switch to the headset output).
I must mention that it worked very well on Ubuntu 12.04.

This bug can be in the bluetooth stack or in unity-control-center or
maybe pulseaudio. I actually have no idea.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1652562] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E130] BCM4313: very slow speed with brcmsmac

2017-01-01 Thread tim474
>tim474, the latest mainline kernel is 4.10-rc1 (not 4.4, or 4.9).

When I tried, it was 4.9. I'll try with 4.10, but I doubt that it was fixed. I
tried Ubuntu 16.04 on another laptop (Samsung NF-310) with the same WiFi chip:

>Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn
Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:4727] (rev 01)

And on Samsung it works properly.

And on Lenovo E130 I noticed that brcmsmac can work properly if I
install wl propriteary driver, and do

>rmmod wl
>modprobe bcma
>modprobe brmsmac

and don't reboot or suspend. After reboot (with blacklisting wl and
unblacklisting brcmsmac and bcma) or suspend-resume it has the same
problem.

Maybe cause of the problem is firmware?

And I noticed a problem with wl. It doesn't connect to some public
networks. But brcmsmac (after the hook above) or windows (on the same
laptop) connects to them.

Bug description:
  Hello,
I've been running Raspberry Pi 3 with Ubuntu as described here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi

I've installed Ubuntu 16.04 and then upgraded to 16.10 and have been
using this setup successfully since October up until last week.
Unfortunately one of the latest kernel updates broke the installation
and I found out the same happened for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - and therefore
I can no longer run up-to-date Ubuntu installation (with updated
  kernel) on my RPI.

  I am getting this error:
Error image is not a fdt - must reset the board to recover

I also tried this but it didn't help me:
  https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28=168838

Now I know running Ubuntu on RPI3 this way is not officially
supported, but since Ubuntu Snappy is supported I thought someone here
could know what is going on.

  Thank you very much.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1559576] Re: Ubuntu GNOME boots to black screen when using proprietary Nvidia drivers

Having the same problem on Unity and Ubuntu 16.10. Regardless which of
the prorpietary drivers I use (367, 370, 375) it will result in a black
screen. Intel card works flawlessly though.

Title:
left TPP/2 IBM TrackPoint "sticks on" randomly (X250 15.04)

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have reported the details of this problem at
  https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/272142

  As summarized on that question:

  X250 analysis:
I used the command on the X250
evtest /dev/input/event15 | grep EV_KEY

I can see the bug, as follows:

I click on button 1 (left) over and over. When I push the button down,
I see it register as 1,
and when I let go of the key, it registers as a 0.

The bug is that every now and then (once every 20 clicks), when I let go
of the left mouse button (BIN_LEFT), it does not return to state 0 (it stays
in state 1).

This is highly random, but cant be triggered more often, by dragging a
window, which I do with BIN_LEFT.

I am using a brand new X250, purchased in late July 2015. The system was
returned 3 times to IBM repair as I assumed
this was a hardware error. Now with the above, it seems clear that this is a
software issue.

Title:
left TPP/2 IBM TrackPoint "sticks on" randomly (X250 15.04)

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have reported the details of this problem at
  https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/272142

  As summarized on that question:

  X250 analysis:
I used the command on the X250
evtest /dev/input/event15 | grep EV_KEY

I can see the bug, as follows:

I click on button 1 (left) over and over. When I push the button down,
I see it register as 1,
and when I let go of the key, it registers as a 0.

The bug is that every now and then (once every 20 clicks), when I let go
of the left mouse button (BIN_LEFT), it does not return to state 0 (it stays
in state 1).

This is highly random, but cant be triggered more often, by dragging a
window, which I do with BIN_LEFT.

I am using a brand new X250, purchased in late July 2015. The system was
returned 3 times to IBM repair as I assumed
this was a hardware error. Now with the above, it seems clear that this is a
software issue.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1506817] Re: left TPP/2 IBM TrackPoint "sticks on" randomly (X250 15.04)

2017-01-01 Thread Jont Allen
Pascal,
I installed your suggested fix, and it works perfectly. I have been using it
for more than 24 hours,
and the button-sticking problem is gone.

I am able to return to using the X250. It was sitting on the desk,
unused, but now its back in operation.

I cant thank you enought.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1653361] Re: [Asus E502SA] Suspend/resume triggers random hang

2017-01-01 Thread Janne Heikkinen
This computer is only two and half weeks old and Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS with
the kernels mentioned in comment #3 is the only release I've tested.
I've got dual boot with Windows 10 and on the Windows side
suspend/resume works without hangs.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1653012] Re: RTL8821AE doesn't work after some minutes.

2017-01-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
hotellina:

1)
>"After a few seconds during an upload I get disconencted from the server for
>inactivity."

If you are still uploading a file, then you couldn't possibly be
disconnected for inactivity. Are you getting an error message that says
that?

2) Does your router have the latest "Software version" as per Vodafone?

3) If you turn off the FTP server inside the router GUI, and then try to
FTP to other accounts on the internet, is this still reproducible?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1653012] Re: RTL8821AE doesn't work after some minutes.

2017-01-01 Thread hotellina
1)  sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
X555LAB.601
05/05/2016

2) In my house I have a Vodafone modem/router to connect to the
Internet. It has a FTP jack on the back so that I can put my USB/Drive
or USB memory stick in it and have a FTP inside my house for streaming,
documents and so on.

Product typeHG658c
Device ID F83DFF-Q8Y7NA9441501759
Hardware versionHG658BZV VER.A
Software versionV100R001C172B227
Batch numberBC172P0.227.A2pv6F038m.d24b1

After a few seconds during an upload I get disconencted from the server
for inactivity. This problem used to hang the whole internet connection
in my house but not after the BIOS upgrade anymore.

After the BIOS upgrade I just get disconnected and the upload fails but
I can use the connection for browsing now on other sites with Firefox
for example.

I tried to upload a big file to other FTP accounts on Internet and the
behavior looks the same: it disconnects me from the server after a few
seconds of real upload. I tried with Filezilla, crossftp and gftp.

Title:
C++ demangling support missing from perf

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Hi,
It appears that C++ demangling support is missing from linux-tools-3.16.0-24,
on Utopic on arm64.

Could the following please be added to the build dependencies for that
package:
  libiberty-dev
  binutils-dev

Installing the above and rebuilding the package fixed the problem for
  me.

  Cheers,
