When I plug this hub on my windows partition, the ethernet connection is detected fine and I can use it to access my local network and Internet. Not under Ubuntu. Ubuntu does detect the USB-C hub since it uses it to power my laptop and plug 2 additional monitors. The network also works with Ubuntu if I use the Wifi. But ethernet works only with Windows. This seems specific to this hub as I have tried a USB-C ethernet adapter that worked with Ubuntu in the past. I don't have a ethernet port on the laptop to do more tests, the XPS15 only has a usb-c port. I believe the issue is related to the fact that Amazon Echo is paired as a handset (i.e., speaker + microphone) rather than just as a speaker. I believe the critical error is found in a dmesg line such as: Feb 28 10:59:05 n1 bluetoothd[1025]: a2dp-source profile connect failed for 50:F5:DA:A6:3F:EA: Device or resource busy as I describe in the askubuntu.com discussion at: https://askubuntu.com/questions/871630/cant-send-audio-to-amazon-echo- via-bluetooth I have clarified there my thinking and the steps I've taken thus far on this issue, which includes trying debug bluetooth per the Ubuntu wiki page which describes how to do so. This is probably an upstream issue, as Mike H-R has commented there that the problem also occurs on ArchLinux. I and a few others would like to get this resolved, and I am happy to help (I'm a software developer). However, at this point, I'm not sure how to proceed without some assistance. I suppose I could report it to Debain, but I've only ever used Debain vis a vis Ubuntu, so I thought it best to start here. Thanks. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1629469] Re: wifi wi-fi wireless connection drops down randomly
I experiencing the same problem, I have Qualcomm Atheros - QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter. It started after the kernel upgrade, unfortunately, I am not 100% sure which one exactly - most probably 4.4.0-78, and currently I am on 4.4.0-79 and problem still persists. After a day or two of work I have sudden 100% CPU load, and then Wi-Fi failure, which can be cured by the restart only. The messages from the kernel ring buffer are series of these: [13228.390795] ath: phy0: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x AR_DIAG_SW=0x DMADBG_7=0x [13228.575235] ath: phy0: Chip reset failed [13228.575236] ath: phy0: Unable to reset channel, reset status -22 After stopping WiFi CPU goes back to normal, but as I said, WiFi driver cannot resume its function and only restart helps.
