[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1700657] Re: Touchpad not detected in Lenovo X1 Yoga / Yoga 720-15IKB

2017-07-16 Thread Björn Dahlgren
I am using Ubuntu 16.04.2, currently running the default
4.8.0-58-generic kernel (works fine except for the touchpad not being
detected, had to switch sata mode from raid to ahci for it to detect the
ssd though).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1704374] Re: system randomly hangs itself

Does "intel_idle.max_cstate=1" can still workaround the issue on 4.12?

  Kde Plasma: 5.10.3

  Probably I've solved with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash
intel_idle.max_cstate=1"

  Randomly the operating system hangs both eist and or c1e options enabled or
disabled. I hope that Kubuntu has not damaged my hardware. However what kind of
workaround should be made on the klernel to have this problem solved once and
forever?
  My hardware specs:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1693464] Re: Bluetooth Audio broken for Bose SoundLink Mini

2017-07-16 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm guessing Bluetooth has paired with it just fine, and just the audio
part isn't working (?)

Bluetooth audio bugs are almost always in pulseaudio, not bluez.

  very long kernel boot time with some KVM switch

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

  I run a Ubuntu 17.04 system.

  I experience a very long boot time, having done an analysis it appears
  that the main problem is the kernel boot time and more specifically
  the time it takes to start its USB subsystem.

  when you look at the dsmg output you can clearly see a gap between 4-78s and
79-91s, all in the USB sub-process.

Title:
  very long kernel boot time with some KVM switch

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I am using a Aten KVM switch CS1794 hooked on my computer.
  It allows the switching for USB, HDMI, and audio.

http://www.aten.com/global/en/products/kvm/desktop-kvm-switches/cs1794/#.WWrnguk9iUk

Which ubuntu distribution do you use?

I could test this patch on my own notebook as soon as I got some spare
time...

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1700657] Re: Touchpad not detected in Lenovo X1 Yoga / Yoga 720-15IKB

2017-07-16 Thread Björn Dahlgren
I am affected by this bug as well (Lenovo Yoga 720-15IKB, touchpad not
detected).

I tried the mainline kernel (4.12.1) but I only see "Loading initial
ramdisk ..." and it appears to hang. (removing "quiet" has no effect).

I wanted to try if this diff would fix the problem (hwid from windows device
manager):
```
diff --git a/drivers/input/mouse/elan_i2c_core.c
b/drivers/input/mouse/elan_i2c_core.c
index d5ab9dd..6a8b40f 100644
+   { "ELAN0651", 0 },
{ "ELAN1000", 0 },
{ }
 };
```

But since I can't even boot I cannot verify if it works.

When I install "linux-image-4.8.0-56-generic" using apt-get install, I get the
same error.
If I also (apt-get) install "linux-image-extra-4.8.0-56-generic", it proceeds
to give me a
blank screen before hanging (before the Ubuntu splash screen)

Not quite sure how to proceed troubleshooting this, any ideas?

no worries! Photographing models up close is always eye opening!
They're definitely not showcase models, but I'm shooting for above
tabletop standard. I took a little more time with Mortarion and
Typhon, of course, but also am going for speed! In 6 ish months I've
painted  155+ infantry, 4 tanks, 3 Contemptors, 3 rapier platforms, a
Fire Raptor, and Mortarion.

Don't feel bad, constructive criticism is useful. Thanks for the
compliments too!

Title:
  229-4ubuntu18: '+' command prefix does not work in ExecStart*= and
  ExecStop*=

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The systemd version 229-4ubuntu18 from xenial-proposed archive has a
  bug. The '+' prefix (see
  https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.service.html)
  in ExecStart*= and ExecStop*= statements does not work any longer.

  File /lib/systemd/system/systemd-resolved.service.d/resolvconf.conf of
  this version contains two commands prefixed with '+':

  # When resolved is in use, it must be brought up before we consider networking
  # available because otherwise there is a window where DNS resolution doesn't
  # work.
  [Unit]
  Before=network-online.target

  # tell resolvconf about resolved's builtin DNS server, so that DNS servers
  # picked up via networkd are respected when using resolvconf, and that
software
  # like Chrome that does not do NSS (libnss-resolve) still gets proper DNS
  # resolution
  [Service]
  ExecStartPost=+/bin/sh -c '[ ! -e /run/resolvconf/enable-updates ] || echo
"nameserver 127.0.0.53" | /sbin/resolvconf -a systemd-resolved'
  ExecStopPost=+/bin/sh -c '[ ! -e /run/resolvconf/enable-updates ] ||
/sbin/resolvconf -d systemd-resolved'

  Those two statements in section [Service] lead to the following two
  error messages in dmesg:

  [3.687475] systemd[1]:
[/lib/systemd/system/systemd-resolved.service.d/resolvconf.conf:12] Executable
path is not absolute, ignoring: +/bin/sh -c '[ ! -e

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1704374] Re: system randomly hangs itself

2017-07-16 Thread morris
Ordered a new set of DDR3 to verify a possible conflict between the
corsair model and the system. I've spent the day to test every single
dimm by memtest the result of this test is good for every single dimm it
is positive for dual channel dimms but I get problems when all 4 dimms
are used on 7th test during which the memtest program hangs itself. I
made a memtest diagnose by floppy disk without any problems assuming
that the system was stable also when 4 dimms are plugged. However I've
decided to get another set of memories to try. The currently model of
dimms works at 1333 but it is 1600FSB based.

Bug description:
  Hello Everybody,

  since last update from ubuntu 16.04.2, last night, my servers are
  randomly not able to read and write from shared folders. I got this
  message:

  lsof: WARNING: can't stat() cifs file system /mnt/record
    Output information may be incomplete.
  lsof: WARNING: can't stat() cifs file system /mnt/record

  This comes from my cron script.

  When I type df -h it takes sometimes very long to get the list. And it
  also can be that the mounted share is disconnected and I have to mount
  -a (what also takes long) again.

  My fstab have this command:

  //address /mnt/storage cifs

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1704374] Re: system randomly hangs itself

2017-07-16 Thread morris
Now the system blocks occur repeatedly.

Another bios info:

plug and play os: YES

This function should be irrelevant since ACPI is enabled.

  There are also usb hot-plug messages in between ath10k related ones -
  this is because I disabled a wireless adapter and immediately plugged

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1704374] Re: system randomly hangs itself

2017-07-16 Thread morris
Problems has just occurred again (I'm making verification): the system
hangs just after almost one hour in idle state without any application
used when I've just opened the start menu moving the mouse towards the
icon from which to run the browser.

Obviously I returned the grub file to its original state deleting the
workaround before installing the new kernel 2 day ago.

The problem has happened after much more time in confront of the
previous kernel, however it has happened.

That's some kind of issue on ACPI events to manage C-states (so that the
hardware is faulty and/or bios is broken and/or kernel is defective).

Other info:
bios:
1) bios ehci hand-off: disabled (enable or disable appears to be irrelevant);
2) cpu q-fan control: enabled on optimal (this option seems to increase the
problem).

I'll wait for another hangs then I'll apply again the aforementioned
workaround if it fixes the problem affects the kernel or the hardware.

  failure

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Under 8.10 suspend worked pretty much flawlessly. Installed Karmic as
  9.04 my sound card would not work for some reason. may end up going
  back to 8.10 as My vid card is not supported anymore by ATI after that
  version. but that is not here nor there. tried to wake up my laptop
  like normal. system stayed at black screen. backlight sis not come on.
  I know this is alpha and I am not mad but I am reporting this so the
  developers know it. I have no idea what caused the problem but
  hopefully the bug catcher included stuff to help trace it. If not
  please delete this bug as I have no other Idea what could have caused
  it.

  Thanks for making a great product. I have used Ubuntu since 6.06 and
  have watched it get better and better every release (with exception to
  9.04) ;)

  thanks again guys.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1697132] Re: CPU Cores Stalls/Lock

2017-07-16 Thread William Osborne
This issue is not related to ZFS. It simply happened to stall on that process.
I have since removed zfs and rebuilt with mdadm and installed an upstream
kernel (4.10.17-041017-generic) and the issue continues.

Title:
  CPU Cores Stalls/Lock

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in zfs-linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  CPU Stalls or Locks up after a random period of time. Can not trace
  issue to high resources or heat. System will crash while sitting
  essentially idle. Sometimes system will crash after a few minutes some
  times it will take days. A large file transfer will usually force the
  crash though.

  I have been having similar issue since Ubuntu 14.04. I have upgrade to
  every version along the way to 17.04 with the same issue. I have
  replaced every piece of hardware except HDD. MB, Proc, power supply,
  memory, video card. With and without AMD micro code. This is a server
  so no GUI.

  I've tried upstream kernels but they don't support ZFS and I haven't
  had any luck shimming it in. Happy to try newer kernels if someone can
  provide one with ZFS support.

Title:
  very long kernel boot time with some KVM switch

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I am using a Aten KVM switch CS1794 hooked on my computer.
  It allows the switching for USB, HDMI, and audio.

http://www.aten.com/global/en/products/kvm/desktop-kvm-switches/cs1794/#.WWrnguk9iUk

  I run a Ubuntu 17.04 system.

  I experience a very long boot time, having done an analysis it appears
  that the main problem is the kernel boot time and more specifically
  the time it takes to start its USB subsystem.

  when you look at the dsmg output you can clearly see a gap between
  4-78s and 79-91s, all in the USB sub-process.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1703091] Re: Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

Title:
   Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I have a Clevo P150SM laptop. Recently, I have frequent kernel panics
  "Fatal exception in interrupt".

Screenshot at https://i.stack.imgur.com/eZRcu.jpg

  (I will try to upload the screenshot of the console once I have a bug
  number).

  It happened the 1st time kernel 4.4.0-83 was installed and since yesterday's
package updates was
  happening almost all the time.

  Today (the next morning) kernel 4.4.0-83 is booting fine.

  The symptons are simular to bug 1702164

  (Sometimes it gets far enough to boot the X11 interface - and then crashes,
Sometimes it crashes while still in console text mode).
  2 leds are blinking: "CapsLock", and the other led which is not NumLock (but
I don't know what it is). NumLock is not blinking.

  I alread did as root:

  apt clean
  apt install --reinstall linux-image-generic linux-image-4.4.0-83-generic
  update-initramfs -u -k 4.4.0-83-generic
  reboot

  but it stays the same.

  (The first time I upgraded to kernel 4.4.0-83 the power went down in
  the middle of the upgrade, and I fixed the problem more-or-less with
  the commands above.).

  When it crashes, I manage to boot in 4.4.0-81-generic, and it still
  seems to work fine.
