  SRU:

  [Impact]
ThinkPad 11e 2nd/3rd touchpad not working when load i2c-i801.
PNP LEN0049 will use smbus by default in kernel, but i2c bus is in
runtime suspend mode in old touchpad fw.
  Then touchpad will not work.
LEN2040 on 11e 3rd can reproduce this issue by passing
  psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1

These 2 pnp device should be the same one Synaptics s3203_ver5.

  [Fix]
i2c-i801 should auto suspend when not used, no need runtime pm.

  [Test Case]
  Tested on Thinkpad 11e 3rd.
  Touchpad works fine.

  [Regression Potential]
  Low, upstream fix cherry-picked.

4.18 kernel patch, no need for cosmic.

  Original bug report:
  =
After upgrading to kmod (24-1ubuntu3.1) the trackpads stop working on Lenovo
11e 2nd gen machines.

We have a fleet of approximetly 1000 of them in production running
ubuntu 18.04. Prior to this update the trackpads worked out of box in
  18.04.

We are currently working around the issue by deploying our own
  blacklist files.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1791908] Re: uvcvideo: Failed to query (GET_INFO) UVC control 4 on unit 2: -32 (exp. 1).

2018-12-30 Thread KEYofR
Problem is intermittent for me.

When I posted my previous comment, I had just done a fresh boot from
power-off (I never use hibernate or suspend, and don't even have any
swap partition or swap file configured), and had gotten the error on
that boot, and guvcvideo didn't work.

I just did 4 more power-off reboots (using "shutdown" from the LXDE
shutdown menu, not "reboot" or "suspend" etc) , and I didn't get the
error any of those times, and guvcvideo worked in each of those
sessions.

Same kernel each time, (4.20.0-042000rc7-generic).
Two of the boots I pressed enter in grub to skip the grub timeout, 2 times I
let grub time out, no difference.

Title:
Failure to boot as QEMU guest when using -device virtio-vga,virgl=true

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

virtio-vga,virgl=true fails to boot. Even setting to output boot
messages to a serial console no messages appear as if it never tried

What makes this strange is that the live media works correctly using
-device virtio-vga,virgl=true, but then, on reboot, the installed

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1299007] Re: [ASUS Z87-PRO] suspend/resume failure

2018-12-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sam (sr897), as the root cause of this report isn't confirmed to be solely
dependent on the motherboard, it is most helpful if you use the computer the
problem is reproducible with, and provide necessary debugging logs by filing a
new report with Ubuntu via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Also, please note as per the article
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend manually attached files
should be uncompressed and untarred (not zipped, gzipped, etc.).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1810096] Re: xf86OpenConsole: Switching VT failed

2018-12-30 Thread Bougron
It's not easy to do an APPORT execution under WSL because firefox is very slow
to respond and the display server mixes a bit.
  I have a screenshot.

a@W0:~$ sudo apport-collect 1810096

This was the last OK then my 18.04 hangs after an update this morning.

Last Ok in boot was Started gnome display manager. dispatcher service
.. tem changes.pp link was shut down

Tried install lightdm from command line and the response was lastest
  already installed.

Probably it is what is coming after the lastest OK which is to be the
error. And here I have lots of guesses..

Any Ideas ? I need to do some work and I may not be waiting long.

Search and browsed and now close to give up. Yeah it is a Lenovo.

Guys: turn of auto update it is a machine killer.
